ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 13

1 ಕಾಲಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ ತಾಮಾರಳೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಸುಂದರಿಯಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸಹೋದರಿ ಇದ್ದಳು. ಅವಳನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದನು.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

2 ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾದ ತಾಮಾರಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಬಹು ಸಂಕಟಪಟ್ಟು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾದನು. ಅವಳು ಕನ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಏನಾದರೂ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಮ್ನೋನನಿಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

And Amnon was so distressed that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed hard to Amnon to do any thing unto her.

3 ಆದರೆ ಅಮ್ನೋನನಿಗೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಹೋದರನಾಗಿರುವ ಶಿಮೆಯನ ಮಗ ಯೊನಾದಾಬನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಿದ್ದನು. ಈ ಯೋನಾದಾಬನು ಬಹು ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.

4 ಯೋನಾದಾಬನು ಅಮ್ನೋನನಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನ ಮಗನಾದ ನೀನು ದಿನದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಏಕೆ ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀ? ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾಗಿರುವ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಸಹೋದರಿ ತಾಮಾರಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.

And he said unto him: 'Why, O son of the king, art thou thus becoming leaner from day to day? wilt thou not tell me?' And Amnon said unto him: 'I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'

5 ಆಗ ಯೋನಾದಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ರೋಗಿಷ್ಟನ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಂಚದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಲಗು; ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, ‘ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿ ತಾಮಾರಳು ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದಯಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ನಾನು ಅವಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಹಾಗೆ, ಅವಳು ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ, ನನಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ಕೊಡಲಿ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು,” ಎಂದನು.

And Jonadab said unto him: 'Lay thee down on thy bed, and feign thyself sick; and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him: Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and give me bread to eat, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.'

6 ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಅದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ರೋಗಿಷ್ಟನ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿ ತಾಮಾರಳು ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದಯಮಾಡಬೇಕು; ನಾನು ಅವಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವಳು ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣು ಮುಂದೆ ಎರಡು ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.

So Amnon lay down, and feigned himself sick; and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king: 'Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.'

7 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಾಮಾರಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಅಮ್ನೋನನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಇಡು,” ಎಂದನು.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying: 'Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him food.'

8 ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತಾಮಾರಳು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಅಮ್ನೋನನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದಳು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಮಲಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವಳು ಹಿಟ್ಟನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಕಲಸಿ, ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣು ಮುಂದೆ ನಾದಿ, ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ,

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was lying down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

9 ಪಾತ್ರೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟಳು. ಆದರೆ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು, “ನಾನು ಉಣ್ಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಎಲ್ಲರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋದರು.

And she took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said: 'Have out all men from me.' And they went out every man from him.

10 ಆಗ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು, “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಿನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಆ ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಠಡಿಯೊಳಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ,” ಎಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತಾಮಾರಳು ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಠಡಿಯೊಳಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಳು.

And Amnon said unto Tamar: 'Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat of thy hand.' And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

11 ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವಳು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗು ಬಾ,” ಎಂದನು.

And when she had brought them near unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her: 'Come lie with me, my sister.'

12 ಅದಕ್ಕವಳು, “ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನೇ, ಬೇಡ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಥ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಕೂಡದು. ಇಂಥ ದುಷ್ಟತನದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.

And she answered him: 'Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel; do not thou this wanton deed.

13 ಈ ಅವಮಾನವನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಡುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದುಷ್ಟ ಮೂರ್ಖರೊಳಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬನಾಗಿ ಇರುವೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಈಗ ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಹಿಂತೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದಳು.

And I, whither shall I carry my shame? and as for thee, thou wilt be as one of the base men in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.'

14 ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅವಳ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಆಕೆಗಿಂತಲೂ ಬಲಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಅವಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರಮಾಡಿದನು.

Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.

15 ಅನಂತರ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಗಿಂತ ಅದು ಅಧಿಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ಎದ್ದು ಹೋಗು,” ಎಂದನು.

Then Amnon hated her with exceeding great hatred; for the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her: 'Arise, be gone.'

16 ಆಗ ಅವಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಬೇಡ! ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಆ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನಕ್ಕಿಂತ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಡುವ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವು ಅಧಿಕ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದಳು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅವಳ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ

And she said unto him: 'Not so, because this great wrong in putting me forth is worse than the other that thou didst unto me.' But he would not hearken unto her.

17 ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸೇವಕನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಇವಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತಳ್ಳಿ, ಅವಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಾಗಿಲು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸು,” ಎಂದನು.

Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said: 'Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.' —

18 ಅವಳು ವಿವಿಧ ಬಣ್ಣದ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದಳು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಾದ ಕನ್ಯೆಯರು ಇಂಥಾ ನಿಲುವಂಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವನ ಸೇವಕನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತಂದು, ಅವಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಾಗಿಲು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಬೀಗ ಹಾಕಿದನು.

Now she had a garment of many colours upon her; for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. — And his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

19 ಆಗ ತಾಮಾರಳು ತನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು, ತಾನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ವಿವಿಧ ಬಣ್ಣದ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹರಿದು, ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೋದಳು.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of many colours that was on her; and she laid her hand on her head, and went her way, crying aloud as she went.

20 ಆಗ ಅವಳ ಸಹೋದರ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾನಭಂಗ ಮಾಡಿದನೋ? ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿ, ಈಗ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರು. ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ,” ಎಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತಾಮಾರಳು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟಿಗಳಾಗಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದಳು.

And Absalom her brother said unto her: 'Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but now hold thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; take not this thing to heart.' So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

21 ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಬಹು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡನು.

But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

22 ಆದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಮ್ನೋನನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾದರೂ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದಾದರೂ ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾದ ತಾಮಾರಳನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

And Absalom spoke unto Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

23 ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಮುಗಿದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾಳ್ ಹಾಚೋರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಉಣ್ಣೆ ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವಾಗ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಔತಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದನು.

And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep-shearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

24 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಇಗೋ, ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಉಣ್ಣೆ ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ; ಅರಸನೂ, ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಬಹುದೋ?” ಎಂದನು.

And Absalom came to the king, and said: 'Behold now, thy servant hath sheep-shearers; let the king, I pray thee, and his servants go with thy servant.'

25 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಾವು ನಿನಗೆ ಭಾರವಾಗಿರದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರು ಈಗ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ರಾಜನನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಹೋಗಲು ಒಪ್ಪದೆ, ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

And the king said to Absalom: 'Nay, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome unto thee.' And he pressed him; howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

26 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು, “ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಏಕೆ ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದನು.

Then said Absalom: 'If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us.' And the king said unto him: 'Why should he go with thee?'

27 ಆದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನು ಅಮ್ನೋನನನ್ನೂ, ಅರಸನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

28 ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಅಮ್ನೋನನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸದಿಂದ ಅಮಲೇರಿದಾಗ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಕೂಡಲೆ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿರಿ, ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ, ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿರಿ, ಶೂರರಾಗಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

And Absalom commanded his servants, saying: 'Mark ye now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine; and when I say unto you: Smite Amnon, then kill him, fear not; have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.'

29 ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅಮ್ನೋನನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಆಗ ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಎದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೇಸರಗತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.

And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up upon his mule, and fled.

30 ಅವರು ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಬಂತು.

And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that the tidings came to David, saying: 'Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.'

31 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಎದ್ದು, ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸುತ್ತಲು ನಿಂತರು.

Then the king arose, and rent his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

32 ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಶಿಮೆಯನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಯೋನಾದಾಬನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಅರಸನ ಪುತ್ರರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ನೆನಸಬೇಡ. ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಸತ್ತನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾದ ತಾಮಾರಳನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನು ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದ ದಿನ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said: 'Let not my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

33 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲರು ಸತ್ತರೆಂಬುವ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿಡಬೇಡ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅಮ್ನೋನನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಸತ್ತನು,” ಎಂದನು.

Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon only is dead.'

34 ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಓಡಿಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾವಲುಗಾರನು ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡುವಾಗ, ಅವನ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಅನೇಕ ಜನರು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾವಲುಗಾರನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೋರೋನೈಮ್ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people in a roundabout way by the hill-side.

35 ಆಗ ಯೋನಾದಾಬನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನ ಪುತ್ರರು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆಯಿತು,” ಎಂದನು.

And Jonadab said unto the king: 'Behold, the king's sons are come; as thy servant said, so it is.'

36 ಅವನು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ತೀರಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅರಸನ ಪುತ್ರರು ಬಂದು ಸ್ವರವೆತ್ತಿ ಅತ್ತರು. ಅರಸನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಮಹಾಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಅತ್ತರು.

And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice, and wept; and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

37 ಆದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಗೆಷೂರಿನ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರುವ ಅಮ್ಮೀಹೂದನ ಮಗ ತಲ್ಮಾಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

38 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಗೆಷೂರಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷ ಇದ್ದನು.

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

39 ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಅಮ್ನೋನನ ಸಾವಿನ ದುಃಖ ಶಮನವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಬಯಸಿದನು.

And the soul of king David failed with longing for Absalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
