ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 17
1 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದ ಸೋಕೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅಜೇಕಕ್ಕೂ ಸೋಕೋವಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಫೆಸ ದಮ್ಮೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದರು.
Now the Philistines collected their armies to battle, and were assembled at Shochoh, which [belongeth] to Judah, and encamped between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.
2 ಸೌಲನೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಏಲಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದು, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು.
And Saul and the men of Israel were assembled and encamped by the valley of Elah, and [they] set the battle in array against the Philistines.
3 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಒಂದು ಕಡೆಯಾಗಿ ಪರ್ವತದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಒಂದು ಕಡೆಯಾಗಿ ಪರ್ವತದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿಂತರು. ಅವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಗ್ಗು ಇತ್ತು.
And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and [there was] a valley between them.
4 ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ರಣವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದನು. ಅವನ ಎತ್ತರ ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ಮೀಟರ್.
And there went out a champion from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose hight [was] six cubits and a span.
5 ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಚಿನ ಶಿರಸ್ತ್ರಾಣ ಇತ್ತು. ಪರೆಪರೆಯಾಗಿ ಜೋಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕವಚವನ್ನು ಅವನು ತೊಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು. ಆ ಕವಚವು ಸುಮಾರು ಐವತ್ತೇಳು ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ತೂಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
And [he had] a helmet of brass upon his head, and he [was] armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat [was] five thousand shekels of brass.
6 ಅವನ ಕಾಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಚಿನ ಚಮ್ಮಳಿಗೆ. ಅವನ ತೋಳುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭರ್ಜಿ ಇದ್ದವು.
And [he had] greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.
7 ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯ ಕೋಲು ನೇಕಾರರ ಕುಂಟೆಯಷ್ಟು ಗಾತ್ರದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯ ಅಲಗು ಏಳು ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ತೂಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
And the staff of his spear [was] like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head [weighed] six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.
8 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಖೇಡ್ಯ ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದನು. ಅವನು ನಿಂತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಏಕೆ ನೀವು ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಹೊರಟಿರಿ? ನಾನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಲ್ಲವೋ? ನೀವು ಸೌಲನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲವೋ? ನೀವು ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರಲಿ.
And he stood and cried to the armies of Israel, and said to them, Why have ye come out to set [your] battle in array? [am] not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
9 ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆ, ನಾವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸೇವಕರಾಗುವೆವು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಕೊಂದರೆ ನೀವು ನಮಗೆ ಸೇವಕರಾಗಿದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದನು.
If he shall be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I shall prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
10 ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು, “ನಾನು ಈ ದಿನ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾವು ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
11 ಸೌಲನೂ, ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಹೆದರಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.
12 ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಊರಿನ ಎಫ್ರಾತ್ಯನಾದ ಇಷಯನೆಂಬವನ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಈ ಇಷಯನಿಗೆ ಎಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರರಿದ್ದರು. ಸೌಲನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷಯನು ವೃದ್ಧನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
Now David [was] the son of that Ephrathite of Beth-lehem-judah, whose name [was] Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men [for] an old man in the days of Saul.
13 ಇಷಯನ ಮೂವರು ಹಿರಿಯ ಪುತ್ರರು ಸೌಲನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರು. ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದ ಆ ಮೂವರು ಪುತ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನ ಹೆಸರು ಎಲೀಯಾಬನು, ಎರಡನೆಯವನ ಹೆಸರು ಅಬೀನಾದಾಬನು; ಮೂರನೆಯವನ ಹೆಸರು ಶಮ್ಮನು;
And the three eldest sons of Jesse went [and] followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle [were] Eliab the first-born, and next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
14 ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಹಿರಿಯರಾದ ಆ ಮೂವರು ಸೌಲನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರು.
And David [was] the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.
15 ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸಲು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಆಗಾಗ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Beth-lehem.
16 ಆದರೆ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬಂದು ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ನಿಂತುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
17 ಇಷಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದು ಏಫದ ಹುರಿದ ಧಾನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ, ಈ ಹತ್ತು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು.
And Jesse said to David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched [corn], and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;
18 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಹತ್ತು ಗಿಣ್ಣಿನ ಗಡ್ಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ಪ್ರಧಾನನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಕ್ಷೇಮಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಗುರುತನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ,” ಎಂದನು.
And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of [their] thousand, and see how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
19 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಏಲಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, [were] in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
20 ದಾವೀದನು ಉದಯಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದು, ಕುರಿ ಕಾಯುವವನ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಇಷಯನು ತನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡುಹೋಗಿ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿ ಹೊರಡುವಾಗ, ಸಲಕರಣೆಗಳು ಇರುವ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
And David rose early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.
21 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರೂ ಸೈನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆದುರಾಗಿ ಸೈನ್ಯ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.
22 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತಾನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದದ್ದನ್ನು, ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ರಣರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದನು.
And David left his furniture in the hand of the keeper of the vessels, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.
23 ಅವನು ಇವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಾಗ, ಗತ್ ಊರಿನ ರಣವೀರನಾದ ಗೊಲ್ಯಾತನೆಂಬ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು, ಮೊದಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು. ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, from the armies of the Philistines, and spoke according to the same words: and David heard [them].
24 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು; ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were exceedingly afraid.
25 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು, “ಏರಿ ಬಂದ ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿರೋ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಿ ಏರಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಬಿಡುವನೋ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನು ಬಹಳ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಸುವನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ವಿಮೋಚಿಸುವನು,” ಎಂದರು.
And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that hath come up? surely to defy Israel hath he come: and it shall be, [that] the man who shall kill him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
26 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲಿಂದ ನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡುವ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಏನು ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದು? ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟರವನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who [is] this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27 ಜನರು ಆ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದವನಿಗೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುವುದು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
28 ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಅವನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಎಲೀಯಾಬನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, “ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದದ್ದೇನು? ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾರ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಬಂದೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಗರ್ವವನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದ ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೀ,” ಎಂದನು.
And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thy heart; for thou art come down that thou mayest see the battle.
29 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ನಾನು ಈಗ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ಮಾತನಾಡಿದೆನಷ್ಟೇ?” ಎಂದನು.
And David said, What have I now done? [Is there] not a cause?
30 ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಜನರು ಮೊದಲು ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And he turned from him towards another, and spoke after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.
31 ದಾವೀದನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರು ಸೌಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನು.
And when the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed [them] before Saul: and he sent for him.
32 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ, “ಅವನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಯಾವ ಹೃದಯವೂ ಕುಗ್ಗಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಹೋಗಿ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದಾಗದು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಹುಡುಗನಾಗಿದ್ದೀಯೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou [art but] a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವಾಗ ಸಿಂಹವೂ ಕರಡಿಯೂ ಬಂದು ಮಂದೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದವು.
And David said to Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 ಆಗ ನಾನು ಅದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಆ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದೆನು. ಅದು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದಾಗ, ನಾನು ಅದರ ಗಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದೆನು.
And I went after him, and smote him, and delivered [it] out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught [him] by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಆ ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನೂ, ಆ ಕರಡಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟೆನು. ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದರ ಹಾಗೆ ಇರುವನು,” ಎಂದನು.
Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಿಂಹದ ಕೈಗೂ, ಕರಡಿಯ ಕೈಗೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು, ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಕೈಗೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಡುವರು,” ಎಂದನು. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗು, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
38 ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಲು ಹೇಳಿ, ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಕಂಚಿನ ಶಿರಸ್ತ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕವಚವನ್ನು ತೊಡಿಸಿದನು.
And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕವಚಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆದು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅದರ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ, “ನನಗೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸವಿಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇವುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗಲಾರೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಹಾಕಿ
And David girded his sword upon his armor, and he essayed to go; for he had not proved [it]. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I have not proved [them]. And David put them off from him.
40 ತನ್ನ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಹಳ್ಳದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಐದು ನುಣುಪಾದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿಕಾಯಲು ಬಳಸುವ ತನ್ನ ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕವಣೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling [was] in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ನಡೆದು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿ ಬಂದನು.
And the Philistine advanced and drew near to David; and the man that bore the shield [went] before him.
42 ಅವನ ಖೇಡ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದನು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಕೆಂಪಾದವನಾಗಿಯೂ, ಸುಂದರ ರೂಪವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಹುಡುಗನಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಅವನನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ,
And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 “ನೀನು ಕೋಲು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ನಾಯಿಯೋ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರುಗಳಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಿದನು.
And the Philistine said to David, [Am] I a dog, that thou comest to me with staffs? and the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಾ; ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಆಕಾಶದ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೂ, ಕಾಡುಮೃಗಗಳಿಗೂ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh to the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಖಡ್ಗ, ಈಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳೊಡನೆ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು, ನೀನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ದೇವರಾದ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವರು; ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನ ಹೆಣಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ದಿನ ಆಕಾಶದ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಕಾಡುಮೃಗಗಳಿಗೂ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವೆನು. ಈ ದಿನ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಭೂಲೋಕದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಿಳಿಯುವರು.
This day will the LORD deliver thee into my hand; and I will smite thee, and take thy head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day to the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ, ಈಟಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಈ ಸಮೂಹವೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯುದ್ಧವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರದ್ದು, ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವರು,” ಎಂದನು.
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle [is] the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.
48 ಆಗ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಎದ್ದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿ ಬರುವಾಗ,
And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran towards the army to meet the Philistine.
49 ದಾವೀದನು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಕವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಬೀಸಿ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ತಾಕುವಂತೆ ಎಸೆದನು. ಆ ಕಲ್ಲು ಅವನ ಹಣೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಹೊಕ್ಕದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದನು.
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and hurled it with his sling, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನು ಒಂದು ಕವಣೆಯ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but [there was] no sword in the hand of David.
51 ದಾವೀದನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಖಡ್ಗ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಾವೀದನು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತು, ಅವನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅದನ್ನು ಒರೆಯಿಂದ ಕಿತ್ತು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು, ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿದನು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
Therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of its sheath, and slew him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
52 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ, ಯೆಹೂದದ ಜನರೂ ಎದ್ದು ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿ, ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಮೇರೆಯವರೆಗೂ, ಎಕ್ರೋನಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನವರೆಗೂ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹತರಾದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಶಾರಯಿಮಿನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಗತ್ ಎಕ್ರೋನಿನವರೆಗೂ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದರು.
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even to Gath, and to Ekron.
53 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟ ತರುವಾಯ ತಿರುಗಿಬಂದು ಅವರ ಡೇರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸೂರೆಮಾಡಿದರು.
And the children of Israel returned from chasing the Philistines, and they plundered their tents.
54 ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅದನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಡೇರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು.
And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent.
55 ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಸೌಲನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೆ, “ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ, ಈ ಯುವಕನು ಯಾರ ಮಗನು?” ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು, “ಅರಸನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣದಾಣೆ ನಾನರಿಯೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said to Abner the captain of the host, Abner, whose son [is] this youth? And Abner said, [As] thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.
56 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನು, “ಆ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನು ಯಾರ ಮಗನೆಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸು,” ಎಂದನು.
And the king said, Inquire thou whose son the stripling [is].
57 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು, ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ, ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, ಸೌಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ತಂದು ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
58 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು, “ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾರ ಮಗನು?” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾಗಿರುವ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And Saul said to him, Whose son [art] thou, [thou] young man? And David answered, I [am] the son of thy servant Jesse the Beth-lehemite.
