ಅರಸುಗಳು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 17
1 ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಷ್ಬೀಯ ಊರಿನವನಾದ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅಹಾಬನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ ಹೊರತು ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಮಂಜಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಮಳೆಯಾಗಲಿ ಬೀಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು.
Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there will not be dew or rain these years unless I say so.”
2 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಾತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗಿ,
The word of Yahweh came to Elijah, saying,
3 “ನೀನು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಿಗಿರುವ ಕೆರೀತ್ ಹಳ್ಳದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿರು.
“Leave from here and go eastward; hide yourself by the brook Kerith, east of the Jordan.
4 ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಆ ಹೊಳೆಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತಂದು ಕೊಡಲು ನಾನು ಕಾಗೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
It will happen that you will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
5 ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಾತಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಕೆರೀತ್ ಹಳ್ಳದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
So Elijah went and did as the word of Yahweh commanded. He went to live by the brook Kerith, east of the Jordan.
6 ಕಾಗೆಗಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉದಯಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನೂ, ಸಂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದವು, ಅವನು ಆ ಹೊಳೆಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದನು.
The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
7 ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಾಲವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಹಳ್ಳವು ಬತ್ತಿಹೋಯಿತು.
But after a while the brook dried up because there was no rain in the land.
8 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗಿ,
The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,
9 “ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಸೀದೋನಿಗೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಚಾರೆಪತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರು. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಧವೆಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and live there. Look, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
10 ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನೆದ್ದು ಚಾರೆಪತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಧವೆಯು ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಳು. ಅವನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ನೀನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನನಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ನೀರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ,” ಎಂದನು.
So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city a widow was there gathering sticks. So he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a jar so that I may drink.”
11 ಅವಳು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ನೀನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ತುಂಡನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ,” ಎಂದನು.
As she was going to get water he called to her, and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.”
12 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಳು, “ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಾಣೆ, ಮಡಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹಿಡಿ ಹಿಟ್ಟೂ, ಕುಡಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ನನಗೆ ಬೇರೇನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಾನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರನೂ ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋಗುವಹಾಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ನನಗೂ, ಅವನಿಗೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ಎರಡು ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದಳು.
She replied, “As Yahweh your God lives, I do not have any bread, but only a handful of meal in a jar and a little oil in a jug. See, I am gathering two sticks so I may go in and cook it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
13 ಆಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡ, ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಮಾಡು. ಆದರೆ ಮೊದಲು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಒಂದು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡಿ, ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ. ತರುವಾಯ ನಿನಗೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೋ.
Elijah said to her, “Do not fear. Go and do as you have said, but make me a little bread first and bring it out to me. Then afterward make some for you and for your son.
14 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ‘ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವವರೆಗೂ ಮಡಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಿಟ್ಟು ತೀರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕುಡಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯು ಮುಗಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,’ ಎಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, 'The jar of meal will not empty, neither will the jug of oil stop flowing, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.”
15 ಆಗ ಅವಳು ಹೋಗಿ ಎಲೀಯನ ಮಾತಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದಳು. ಎಲೀಯನಿಗೂ, ಮಹಿಳೆಗೂ, ಆಕೆಯ ಮಗನಿಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸಾಕಾಗುವಷ್ಟು ಆಹಾರವಿತ್ತು.
So she did as Elijah had told her. She and Elijah, along with her household, ate for many days.
16 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಎಲೀಯನ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಹೇಳಿದ ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಮಡಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಿಟ್ಟು ತೀರದೆ, ಕುಡಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯು ಮುಗಿಯದೆ ಇತ್ತು.
The jar of meal did not empty, neither did the jug of oil stop flowing, just as the word of Yahweh had said, as he had spoken by Elijah.
17 ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಮನೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನಿಯಾದ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಮಗನು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಾದನು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ರೋಗವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಉಸಿರಾಡುವುದು ನಿಂತುಹೋಯಿತು.
After these things the woman's son, the woman who owned the house, fell sick. His sickness was so severe that there was no more breath left in him.
18 ಆಗ ಅವಳು ಎಲೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೇ, ನನಗೂ ನಿನಗೂ ಏನು? ನನ್ನ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಪಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಸಾಯುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿಯೋ?” ಎಂದಳು.
So his mother said to Elijah, “What do you have against me, man of God? Have you come to me to remind me of my sin and to kill my son?”
19 ಅವನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಅವಳ ಮಡಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು, ತಾನು ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಕೋಣೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಮಂಚದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಲಗಿಸಿದನು.
Then Elijah replied to her, “Give me your son.” He took the boy from her arms and carried him up into the room where he was staying, and he laid the boy on his own bed.
20 “ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ವಿಧವೆಯ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವ ಈ ದುರಂತ ಅವಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ?” ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೂಗಿ ಬೇಡಿದನು.
He cried to Yahweh and said, “Yahweh my God, have you also brought disaster on the widow with whom I am staying, by killing her son?”
21 ಅವನು ಬಾಲಕನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದು, “ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ಈ ಬಾಲಕನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಅವನಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬರಲಿ,” ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೂಗಿದನು.
Then Elijah stretched himself on the child three times; he cried out to Yahweh and said, “Yahweh my God, I beg you, please let this child's life return to him.”
22 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಎಲೀಯನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬಾಲಕನು ಬದುಕುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಅವನೊಳಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂತು.
Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah; the life of the child returned to him, and he revived.
23 ಆಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಬಾಲಕನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಉಪ್ಪರಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ಮನೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, “ನೋಡು, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಜೀವದಿಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Elijah took the child and brought him out of his room down into the house; he handed the boy to his mother and said, “See, your son is alive.”
24 ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಎಲೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೆಂದೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಸತ್ಯವೆಂದೂ ಇದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದಳು.
The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of Yahweh in your mouth is true.”
