ಕೊರಿಂಥದವರಿಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ 14

1 ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಅನುಸರಿಸಿರಿ, ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ವರಗಳನ್ನು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವ ವರವನ್ನು ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿರಿ.

FOLLOW earnestly after love, and zealously seek spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡುವವನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡವಲ್ಲ, ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ರಹಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no man understandeth him; although in spirit he speaketh mysterious truths.

3 ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವವನಾದರೋ, ಜನರ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ, ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ಸಂತೈಸುವಿಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

But he that prophesieth, addresseth men for edification, and exhortation, and consolation.

4 ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವವನು ತನಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವವನು ಸಭೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth, edifieth the church.

5 ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಈಗ ನಾನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರೂ, ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವವನು ಸಭೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವವನೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನು.

Now I could wish that you all spake with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy: for greater is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret also, that the church may receive edification.

6 ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಿಯರೇ, ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟನೆಯಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ವಿದ್ಯೆಯಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಉಪದೇಶದಿಂದಾಗಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೇನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ?

Now I, brethren, if I should come unto you, speaking in unknown languages, what should I profit you, unless I should speak to you intelligibly by revelation, or by science, or by prophecy, or by doctrine?

7 ಕೊಳಲು, ವೀಣೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ನಿರ್ಜೀವ ವಾದ್ಯಗಳ ಸ್ವರಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ, ವಿವಿಧ ಶೃತಿಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬರದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಊದಿದ್ದು ಕೊಳಲೋ ಅಥವಾ ಬಾರಿಸಿದ್ದು ವೀಣೆಯೋ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ?

In like manner things inanimate, giving sound, whether the pipe, or the harp, unless they express a distinction in their tones, how shall it be known what is piped, or what is harped?

8 ತುತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಊದದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಯಾರು ತಾನೇ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾಗುವರು?

For if the trumpet also give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

9 ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ, ನೀವೂ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾದ ಭಾಷೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದು ಏನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ನೀವು ಗಾಳಿಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗಿರುವುದಷ್ಟೆ.

So also ye, unless with the tongue you speak an intelligible discourse, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will speak to the air.

10 ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ವಿಧವಾದ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದರೂ ಅರ್ಥರಹಿತವಾದುದಲ್ಲ.

For though there are so many different kinds of languages in the world, yet is not one of them without its meaning.

11 ನಾನು ಭಾಷೆಯ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಮಾತಾಡುವವನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವನಂತಿರುವೆನು, ಮಾತನಾಡುವವನು ನನಗೆ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವನಂತಿರುವನು.

If therefore I know not the force of the expression, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian unto me.

12 ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ, ನೀವು ಸಹ ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ವರಗಳನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವುದರಿಂದ, ಸಭೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ವರಗಳನ್ನೇ ಸಮೃದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿರಿ.

So also ye, if ye zealously affect spiritual gifts, seek that ye may abound in them for the edification of the church.

13 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವವನು ತಾನಾಡುವ ಮಾತಿನ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಲಿ.

Therefore let him who speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret also.

14 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವುದು. ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ನಿಷ್ಫಲವಾಗಿರುವುದು.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my mind produces no fruit.

15 ಹಾಗಾದರೇನು? ನಾನು ಆತ್ಮದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವೆನು, ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವೆನು. ಆತ್ಮದಿಂದ ಹಾಡುವೆನು, ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಹಾಡುವೆನು.

What then is my object? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing psalms with the spirit, and I will sing psalms with the understanding also.

16 ನೀನು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿಗೆ, “ಆಮೆನ್” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ?

Else, though thou bless God in spirit, how shall he who filleth the place of an illiterate man, say Amen after thy thanksgiving, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest?

17 ನೀನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀ ನಿಜವೇ. ಆದರೆ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

For thou indeed givest thanks to God well, but another man is not edified by it.

18 ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

I thank my God, that I speak with different tongues more than you all:

19 ಆದರೂ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ, ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದ ಐದೇ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿ, ಇತರರಿಗೆ ಉಪದೇಶ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನೇ ನಾನು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

but in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

20 ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ಮಕ್ಕಳಂತೆ ಯೋಚಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಿರಿ. ಕೇಡಿನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಶುಗಳಂತೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯೋಚನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಯಸ್ಥರಾಗಿರಿ.

Brethren, be not children in your minds: though in naughtiness be ye children, but in your minds be men complete.

21 “ಬೇರೆಭಾಷೆಯವರ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿಯೂ ವಿದೇಶದವರ ತುಟಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ನಾನು ಈ ಜನರೊಡನೆ ಮಾತಾಡುವೆನು, ಆದರೂ ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಕರ್ತದೇವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ನಿಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿದೆ.

In the law it is written, “That with other tongues, and with other lips, will I speak to this people: and even thus will they not attend to me, saith the Lord.”

22 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವುದು ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗಲ್ಲ, ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to those that believe, but to those who do not believe: but the gift of prophecy is not for those who are infidels, but for believers.

23 ಆದಕಾರಣ ಸಭೆಯೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿದರೆ, ಅಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳು ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದು, ನೀವು ಹುಚ್ಚರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

If then the whole church assemble together in the same place, and all speak different tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say ye are mad?

24 ಆದರೆ ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿರಲು, ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಯಾಗಲಿ, ಅನ್ವೇಷಕನಾಗಲಿ ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ಅವನು ತಾನು ಪಾಪಿಯೆಂಬ ಮನವರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು. ಅವನು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ಪರಿಶೋಧಿತನಾಗುವನು.

But if all prophesy, and any infidel or illiterate person come in, he receives conviction from all, he is judged of all:

25 ಅವನ ಹೃದಯದ ರಹಸ್ಯಗಳು ಬಯಲಾಗುವುವು. ಅವನು ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿ, “ದೇವರು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ!” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟಪಡಿಸುವನು.

and thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God verily is among you.

26 ಹಾಗಾದರೇನು ಪ್ರಿಯರೇ? ನೀವು ಸಭೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಬರುವಾಗ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ಸಂದೇಶವಾಗಲಿ, ಪ್ರಕಟನೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನಾಡುವುದಾಗಲಿ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ವರವಾಗಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದಷ್ಟೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಭೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ ಇರಲಿ.

How comes it then, brethren, that when ye assemble together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation? Let all things be done to edification.

27 ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಅಥವಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚೆಂದರೆ ಮೂವರು ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಬೇಕು, ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲಿ.

If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and one after another; and let one interpret.

28 ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವವನಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವವನು ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೌನವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಅವನು ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೂ ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೂ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ.

But if there be not an interpreter, let him be silent in the church; but let him speak to himself and to God.

29 ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಇಬ್ಬರಾಗಲಿ, ಮೂವರಾಗಲಿ ಮಾತಾಡಲಿ, ಇತರರರು ವಿವೇಚನೆ ಮಾಡಲಿ.

Let the prophets two or three speak, and let the others judge.

30 ಕುಳಿತಿರುವ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆಯಾದರೆ, ಮೊದಲಿನವನು ಮೌನವಾಗಿರಲಿ.

But if any thing should be revealed to one sitting by, let the first be silent.

31 ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕಲಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆಯೂ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಹೊಂದುವಂತೆಯೂ, ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರು ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಿರಿ.

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all be comforted.

32 ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಆತ್ಮಗಳು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿವೆ.

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

33 ದೇವಜನರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಭೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವಂತೆ, ದೇವರು ಗಲಿಬಿಲಿಯ ದೇವರಲ್ಲ, ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of his saints.

34 ದೇವಜನರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಭೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವಂತೆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಭೆಯ ಕೂಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೌನವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅನುಮತಿಯಿಲ್ಲ, ನಿಯಮವು ಸಹ ಹೇಳಿರುವಂತೆ ಅವರು ಅಧೀನರಾಗಿರಬೇಕು.

Let your women be silent in the churches: for it is not permitted to them to speak: but to be in subjection, as also the law saith.

35 ಅವರು ಏನಾದರೂ ಕಲಿಯಬಯಸಿದರೆ, ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಂಡಂದಿರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಿ. ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡುವಂಥದಾಗಿದೆ.

But if they will learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

36 ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಹೊರಟಿತೋ? ಅಥವಾ ಅದು ತಲುಪಿದ್ದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವೋ?

Went the word of God from you? or came it unto you only?

37 ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಆತ್ಮನ ವರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊದಿದವನೆಂದಾಗಲಿ ಭಾವಿಸುವುದಾದರೆ, ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಕರ್ತದೇವರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳೆಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ.

If any man thinketh that he is a prophet, or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that the things which I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

38 ಆದರೆ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಇದನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕಸಿದರೆ, ಅವರೂ ತಿರಸ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗುವರು.

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

39 ಆದಕಾರಣ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರೇ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವ ವರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆಸಕ್ತರಾಗಿರಿ. ಅನ್ಯಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ.

Wherefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

40 ಆದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾಡಿರಿ.

Let all things be done with propriety, and orderly.
