ಕೊರಿಂಥದವರಿಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ 10
1 ಪ್ರಿಯರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮೇಘದ ನೆರಳಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು, ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಾದುಹೋದರು ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಅಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳಾಗಿರಬಾರದೆಂದು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
For I would have you remember, brethren, how our forefathers were all of them sheltered by the cloud, and all got safely through the Red Sea.
2 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮೋಶೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಘದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸ್ನಾನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದರು.
All were baptized in the cloud and in the sea to be followers of Moses.
3 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಆತ್ಮಿಕವಾದ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಉಂಡರು.
All ate the same spiritual food,
4 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಆತ್ಮಿಕವಾದ ಪಾನವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ದೈವಿಕವಾದ ಬಂಡೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಬಂದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರು. ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಯೇಸುವೇ ಆ ಬಂಡೆ.
and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they long drank the water that flowed from the spiritual rock that went with them--and that rock was the Christ.
5 ಆದರೆ ಅವರೊಳಗೆ ಬಹುಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ದೇವರು ಮೆಚ್ಚಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಹಾರವಾದರು.
But with most of them God was not well pleased; for they were laid low in the Desert.
6 ಅವರು ಕೆಟ್ಟ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಾವೂ ಆಶಿಸುವವರಾಗಬಾರದೆಂಬುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಈಗ ನಮಗೆ ನಿದರ್ಶನಗಳಾಗಿವೆ.
And in this they became a warning to us, to teach us not to be eager, as they were eager, in pursuit of what is evil.
7 “ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧಕರಾಗಿ ಉಣ್ಣುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡರು, ಕುಣಿದಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎದ್ದರು,” ಎಂದು ಬರೆದಿರುವಂತೆ ನೀವೂ ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧಕರಾಗಬೇಡಿರಿ.
And you must not be worshippers of idols, as some of them were. For it is written, "The People sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to dance."
8 ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಜಾರತ್ವ ಮಾಡಿ, ಒಂದೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಸತ್ತರು. ನಾವು ಜಾರತ್ವ ಮಾಡದೆ ಇರೋಣ.
Nor may we be fornicators, like some of them who committed fornication and on a single day 23,000 of them fell dead.
9 ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಕರ್ತದೇವರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಸರ್ಪಗಳಿಂದ ನಾಶವಾದಂತೆ, ನಾವೂ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಇರೋಣ.
And do not let us test the Lord too far, as some of them tested Him and were destroyed by the serpents.
10 ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಗೊಣಗುಟ್ಟಿ ಸಂಹಾರಕನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹಾರವಾದಂತೆ ನೀವೂ ಗೊಣಗುಟ್ಟಬೇಡಿರಿ.
And do not be discontented, as some of them were, and they were destroyed by the Destroyer.
11 ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ನಿದರ್ಶನಗಳಾಗಿವೆ, ಯುಗಾಂತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿರುವ ನಮಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. (aiōn g165)
All this kept happening to them with a figurative meaning; but it was put on record by way of admonition to us upon whom the ends of the Ages have come. (aiōn g165)
12 ಆದಕಾರಣ ದೃಢವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದೇವೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುವ ನೀವು ಬೀಳದಿರುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.
So then let him who thinks he is standing securely beware of falling.
13 ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗಾಗುವ ಶೋಧನೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು, ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವುದೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತರು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಮೀರಿದ ಶೋಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಶೋಧನೆಗಳು ಬಂದಾಗ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶಕ್ತರಾಗುವಂತೆ, ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವರು.
No temptation has you in its power but such as is common to human nature; and God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. But, when the temptation comes, He will also provide the way of escape; so that you may be able to bear it.
14 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರೇ, ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿರಿ.
Therefore, my dear friends, avoid all connection with the worship of idols.
15 ವಿವೇಕಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ, ನಾನು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ನೀವು ವಿವೇಚಿಸಿರಿ.
I speak as to men of sense: judge for yourselves of what I say.
16 ನಾವು ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಮಾಡಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರದ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ರಕ್ತದ ಅನ್ಯೋನ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಾವು ಮುರಿಯುವ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿಯ ಅನ್ಯೋನ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲವೇ?
The cup of blessing, which we bless, does it not mean a joint-participation in the blood of Christ? The loaf of bread which we break, does it not mean a joint-participation in the body of Christ?
17 ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಒಂದೇ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಅನೇಕರಿದ್ದರೂ, ಒಂದೇ ದೇಹವಾಗುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆ ಒಂದೇ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಗಳಾಗುತ್ತೇವೆ.
Since there is one loaf, we who are many are one body; we, all of us, share in that one loaf.
18 ನೀವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರ ಕುರಿತು ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿರಿ: ಯಜ್ಞಾರ್ಪಿತವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವವರು ಬಲಿಪೀಠದೊಡನೆ ಭಾಗಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾರಲ್ಲವೇ?
Look at the Israelites--the nation and their ritual. Are not those who eat the sacrifices joint-partakers in the altar?
19 ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಾನು ಹೇಳುವುದೇನು? ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದು ಅಥವಾ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಮಹತ್ವವಿರುತ್ತದೆಯೋ? ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Do I mean that a thing sacrificed to an idol is what it claims to be, or that an idol is a real thing?
20 ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಯಜ್ಞ ದೇವರಿಗಲ್ಲ, ದೆವ್ವಗಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವಂತದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ. ನೀವು ದೆವ್ವಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭಾಗಿಗಳಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂಬುದು ನನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟವಲ್ಲ.
No, but that which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, not to God; and I would not have you have fellowship with one another through the demons.
21 ನೀವು ಕರ್ತದೇವರ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದೆವ್ವಗಳ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕುಡಿಯಲಾರಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಕರ್ತದೇವರ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದೆವ್ವಗಳ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಭಾಗಿಗಳಾಗಿರಲಾರಿರಿ.
You cannot drink the Lord's cup and the cup of demons: you cannot be joint-partakers both in the table of the Lord and in the table of demons.
22 ನಾವು ಹೀಗೆ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಅಸೂಯೆಗೆಬ್ಬಿಸಬಹುದೇ? ನಾವು ದೇವರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆಯೋ?
Or are we actually arousing the Lord to jealousy. Are we stronger than He is?
23 ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಕರವಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವಿದೆ ಆದರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳೂ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Everything is allowable, but not everything is profitable. Everything is allowable, but everything does not build others up.
24 ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ಹಿತವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ಪರಹಿತವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಲಿ.
Let no one be for ever seeking his own good, but let each seek that of his fellow man.
25 ಮಾಂಸದ ಅಂಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರುವುದು ಏನಿದ್ದರೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸದೇ ತಿನ್ನಿರಿ.
Anything that is for sale in the meat market, eat, and ask no questions for conscience' sake;
26 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, “ಭೂಮಿಯೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವೂ ಕರ್ತ ದೇವರದಾಗಿದೆ.”
for the earth is the Lord's, and all that it contains.
27 ಅವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದಾಗ ನೀವು ಹೋಗಬಯಸಿದರೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಡಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಏನನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸದೆ ತಿನ್ನಿರಿ.
If an unbeliever gives you an invitation and you are disposed to accept it, eat whatever is put before you, and ask no questions for conscience' sake.
28 ಆದರೆ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ನಿಮಗೆ, “ಇದು ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ, ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ತಿನ್ನಬೇಡಿರಿ.
But if any one tells you, "This food has been offered in sacrifice;" abstain from eating it--out of respect for him who warned you, and, as before, for conscience' sake.
29 ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಇತರರ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಏಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು?
But now I mean his conscience, not your own. "Why, on what ground," you may object, "is the question of my liberty of action to be decided by a conscience not my own?
30 ನಾನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಆ ಊಟವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಹಾಗೆ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಊಟಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ತಪ್ಪುಹೊರಿಸುವುದೇಕೆ?
If, so far as I am concerned, I partake with a grateful heart, why am I to be found fault with in regard to a thing for which I give thanks?"
31 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಊಟಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಪಾನೀಯ ಸೇವಿಸಿದರೂ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿರಿ.
Whether, then, you are eating or drinking, or whatever you are doing, let everything be done to the glory of God.
32 ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗಾಗಲಿ, ಗ್ರೀಕರಿಗಾಗಲಿ, ದೇವರ ಸಭೆಗಾಗಲಿ ವಿಘ್ನವಾಗಬೇಡಿರಿ.
Do not be causes of stumbling either to Jews or to Gentiles, nor to the Church of God.
33 ನಾನಂತೂ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲದರಲ್ಲೂ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಹಿತವನ್ನೇ ಹುಡುಕದೆ, ಅನೇಕರು ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹೊಂದಬೇಕೆಂದು ಇತರರ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
That is the way that I also seek in everything the approval of all men, not aiming at my own profit, but at that of the many, in the hope that they may be saved.
