ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 19
1 ಇದರ ತರುವಾಯ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ನಾಹಾಷನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದನು; ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.
And it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.
2 ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಹಾನೂನನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ನಾಹಾಷನು ನನಗೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗ ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಲು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನ ದೂತರು ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಲು, ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
3 ಆಗ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ, “ದಾವೀದನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಘನಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತೀಯೋ? ಅವನ ದೂತರು ಈ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಶೋಧಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದರು.
But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?
4 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾನೂನನು ದಾವೀದನ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವರ ಗಡ್ಡ, ತಲೆ ಬೋಳಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ಸೊಂಟದ ಕೆಳಗಿನವರೆಗೂ ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 ಆಗ ಕೆಲವರು ಹೋಗಿ, ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಬಹಳ ಅಪಮಾನ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಆಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಡ್ಡಗಳು ಬೆಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿ. ಆಮೇಲೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಸಿದನು.
Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
6 ತಾವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯರಾದೆವೆಂದು ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಿತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅರಾಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅರಾಮ್ ಮಾಕದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಚೋಬದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ರಾಹುತರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಲಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮೂವತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Aram-maacah, and out of Zobah.
7 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಅವರು ಮೂವತ್ತೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಕದ ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಲಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಇವರು ಬಂದು ಮೇದೆಬ ಊರಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದರು.
So they hired them thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cites, and came to battle.
8 ದಾವೀದನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಯೋವಾಬನನ್ನೂ, ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
9 ಆಗ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಹೊರಟು, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ದ್ವಾರದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದ ಅರಸರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ಬೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.
10 ಯೋವಾಬನು, ಯುದ್ಧವು ತನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ, ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.
11 ಆದರೆ ಉಳಿದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಹಾಗೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟು,
And the rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother, and they put themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
12 ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು, “ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ನನಗಿಂತ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವರಾದರೆ, ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡಬೇಕು; ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ನಿನಗಿಂತ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವರಾದರೆ, ನಾನು ಬಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವೆನು.
And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
13 ದೃಢವಾಗಿರು; ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಡೋಣ. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.
14 ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರೂ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಲು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದಾಗ, ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.
15 ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವರೂ ಸಹ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯನ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಹೋದನು.
And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
16 ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಾವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಂದ ಸೋತುಹೋದೆವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, ಯೂಫ್ರೇಟೀಸ್ ನದಿಯ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇತರ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಹದದೆಜೆರನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಶೋಫಕನು ಅವರ ನಾಯಕನಾದನು.
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head.
17 ಅದನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಅವರು ಅವನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದರು.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him:
18 ಆದರೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿದರು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ಸಾವಿರ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿ, ನಲವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಶೋಫಕನನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians [the men of] seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
19 ಹದದೆಜೆರನ ಅಧೀನ ರಾಜರು ತಾವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ಸೋತುಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವರು ದಾವೀದನ ಸಂಗಡ ಸಂಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅಧೀನರಾದರು. ತರುವಾಯ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದವರಾದರು.
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and served him: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.
