ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 10
1 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದರು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಂದ ಸೋತು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ಗಿಲ್ಬೋವ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹತರಾದರು.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled before the Philistines, and there fell down [many] slain on mount Gilboa'.
2 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಸೌಲನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನೂ ಬಿಡದೆ ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿ, ಸೌಲನ ಪುತ್ರರಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನನ್ನೂ ಅಬೀನಾದಾಬನನ್ನೂ, ಮಲ್ಕೀಷೂವನನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
And the Philistines pursuing them overtook Saul and his sons; and the Philistines smote Jonathan, and 'Abinadab, and Malkishua', the sons of Saul.
3 ಯುದ್ಧವು ಸೌಲನಿದ್ದ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಘೋರವಾಗಿತ್ತು; ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದಾಗ ಅವನು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡನು.
And the battle was heavy against Saul, and he was found by the archers, and he was greatly in dread of the archers.
4 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರುವವನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ, ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿರಿದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಿವಿ,” ಎಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಆಯುಧ ಹೊರುವವನು ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು.
And Saul said to his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and wantonly ill-use me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid: wherefore Saul took the sword and fell upon it.
5 ಸೌಲನು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅವನ ಆಯುಧ ಹೊರುವವನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವನೂ ತನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಸತ್ತನು.
And when the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, then fell he likewise on the sword, and died.
6 ಸೌಲನೂ, ಅವನ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರರೂ, ಅವನ ಮನೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಸತ್ತರು.
Thus died Saul and his three sons; and all his household died together.
7 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಸೋತು ಹೋದರೆಂದೂ, ಸೌಲನೂ, ಅವನ ಪುತ್ರರೂ ಸತ್ತರೆಂದೂ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಆಗ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಬಂದು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದರು.
And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they had fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead: they forsook their cities, and fled, and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 ಮಾರನೆಯ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಸತ್ತವರ ಒಡವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸುಲಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬಂದಾಗ, ಗಿಲ್ಬೋವ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತುಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಸೌಲನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡರು.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the Philistines came to strip the slain; and they found Saul and his sons fallen on mount Gilboa'.
9 ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಮಂದಿರಗಳಿಗೂ, ಜನರಿಗೂ ಜಯವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
And they stripped him, and they carried away his head, and his armor, and sent them into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it to their idols, and to the people.
10 ಸೌಲನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರುಗಳ ಮಂದಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು, ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಗೋನನ ಆಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೇತುಹಾಕಿದರು.
And they put his armor in the house of their gods, and his skull they fastened in the temple of Dagon.
11 ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ,
And when all Yabesh-gil'ad heard all the Philistines had done to Saul:
12 ಅವರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಎದ್ದು ಸೌಲನ ಶವವನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಪುತ್ರರ ಶವಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯಾಬೇಷಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅವರ ಎಲುಬುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾಬೇಷಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಏಲಾ ಮರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿ, ಏಳು ದಿವಸ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
Then arose all the valiant men, and carried away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Yabesh; and they buried their bones under the terebinth in Yabesh, and they fasted seven days.
13 ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಸೌಲನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ತನ್ನ ಅಪರಾಧದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದನು. ಅವನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದು, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸದೆ, ಯಕ್ಷಿಣಿಗಾರರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ,
And [so] died Saul for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he had not kept, and also for asking one of a familiar spirit to inquire of the same;
14 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ, ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿದರು.
And had not inquired of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned over the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
