ರೋಮಾಪುರದವರಿಗೆ 9
1 ೧ ನಾನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡದೆ, ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಂದ ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯೇ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.
Truth, say I, in Christ, I utter no falsehood, —my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit, —
That I have great grief and incessant travail in my heart;
3 ೩ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಜನರೂ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರೂ ಆದ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತಯೇಸುವಿನಿಂದ ಬಹಿಷ್ಕ್ರಿತನಾಗಿ ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾಗಲು ಸಹ ಸಿದ್ಧನಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
For I could have wished to be accursed, even I myself, from the Christ, in behalf of my brethren my kinsmen according to the flesh; —
4 ೪ ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ವಂಶದವರು. ದೇವರು ಇವರನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು; ಇವರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದನು; ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ದೇವರು ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು, ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಆರಾಧನೆಯೂ, ವಾಗ್ದಾನಗಳೂ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವು.
Who, indeed, are Israelites, whose are the sonship, and the glory, and the covenants, and the legislation, and the divine service, and the promises,
5 ೫ ಅವರ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟವರೇ, ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ಶರೀರಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಅವರ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಆತನು ಎಲ್ಲಾದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಡೆಯನೂ, ನಿರಂತರ ಸ್ತುತಿ ಹೊಂದತಕ್ಕ ದೇವರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆಮೆನ್. (aiōn g165)
Whose are the fathers, and of whom is the Christ—according to the flesh—he who is over all, God, blessed unto the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 ೬ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಯಿತೆಂದು ನಾವು ಭಾವಿಸಬಾರದು. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲ.
It is not, however, as though the word of God had failed; for, not all they who are of Israel, the same are Israel.
7 ೭ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ “ಇಸಾಕನಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟುವವರೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.” ಎಂದು ದೇವರು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Neither, because they are seed of Abraham, are all children, —but, In Isaac, shall there be called unto thee a seed.
8 ೮ ಆ ಮಾತಿನ ಅರ್ಥವೇನಂದರೆ ಶರೀರಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲ. ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರೇ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಸಂತತಿಯವರೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವರು ಎಂಬುದು.
That is—not the children of the flesh, the same are children of God; but, the children of the promise, are reckoned as a seed.
For, of promise, is this word—According to this season, will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 ೧೦ ಇದು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಸಹ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲಪಿತೃವಾದ ಇಸಾಕನಿಂದ ಅವಳಿ ಜವಳಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಬಸುರಾದಾಗ ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಆಯಿತು.
And, not only so, but, when, Rebekah also, was with child, of one—Isaac our father, —
11 ೧೧ ಆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಒಬ್ಬ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರು ಇನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟದೆಯೂ, ಒಳ್ಳೆದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೊದಲೇ “ಹಿರಿಯನು ಕಿರಿಯನಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುವನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ” ಆಕೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಇದರಿಂದ ದೇವರು ತನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆಂಬ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಧಾರಗೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಕರೆಯುವಾತನ ಚಿತ್ತದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಆಧಾರಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
They, in fact, not being yet born, nor having practised anything good or bad, —in order that the purpose of God by way of election might stand, —not by works but by him that was calling,
12 ೧೨
It was said unto her—The elder, shall serve the younger;
Even as it is written—Jacob, have I loved, but, Esau, have I hated.
What, then, shall we say? Is there injustice with God? Far be it!
15 ೧೫ “ಯಾವನ ಮೇಲೆ ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ಉಂಟೋ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸುವೆನು, ಯಾವನ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಕನಿಕರವಿದೆಯೋ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕನಿಕರ ತೋರಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ದೇವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
For, unto Moses, he saith—I will have mercy upon whomsoever I can have mercy, and I will have compassion upon whomsoever I can have compassion.
16 ೧೬ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ದೇವರ ದಯೆಯು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ ದೊರೆಯದೆ ದೇವರು ಕರುಣಿಸುವುದರಿಂದಲೇ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
Hence, then, it is nor of him that wisheth nor of him that runneth, but of the mercy-shewing God.
17 ೧೭ ದೇವರು ಫರೋಹನನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತಪಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದಲೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ” ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ.
For the Scripture saith unto Pharaoh—Unto this end, have I raised thee up, that I may thus shew in thee my power, and that I may declare my name in all the earth.
18 ೧೮ ದೇವರು ಯಾರನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿದರೋ, ಯಾರನ್ನು ಕಠಿಣಪಡಿಸಿದರೋ ಅದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಆತನ ಇಷ್ಟಾನುಸಾರವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಇದರಿಂದ ತೋರಿಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
Hence, then, —on whom he pleaseth, he hath mercy, and, whom he pleaseth, he doth harden.
19 ೧೯ “ದೇವರ ಚಿತ್ತವನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವವರು ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ಆತನು ತಪ್ಪು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ” ಎಂದು ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವಿ.
Thou wilt say to me, then—Why longer findeth he fault? For, his purpose, who hath withstood?
20 ೨೦ ಎಲೋ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೇ ಹಾಗೆನ್ನಬೇಡ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ಎಷ್ಟರವನು? ರೂಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದು ರೂಪಿಸಿದವನಿಗೆ, “ಏಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆ ರೂಪಿಸಿದೆ”, ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವುದುಂಟೇ?
O man! Who, nevertheless, art, thou, that art answering again unto God? Shall the thing formed say unto him that formed it—Why didst thou make me thus?
21 ೨೧ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಹೀನವಾದ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮುದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಂಬಾರನಿಗೆ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay—out of the same lump, to make some, indeed, into a vessel for honour, and some for dishonour?
22 ೨೨ ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರೂ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾದ ನಾಶನಪಾತ್ರರನ್ನು ಬಹು ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And, if God—wishing to shew his anger and to make known his power—bare, in much patience, with vessels of anger already fitted for destruction,
23 ೨೩ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಮೆ ಹೊಂದುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನು ಮೊದಲೇ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿರುವ ಕರುಣಾಪಾತ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮಾತಿಶಯವನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
In order that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy which he prepared beforehand for glory, —
24 ೨೪ ಆತನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕರೆಯದೆ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಗ್ರಂಥದ ವಚನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಸೂಚಿಸಿರುವಂತೆ ಅನ್ಯಜನರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಸಹ ಕರೆದನು.
Whom he also called, even us, not only from among Jews, but also from among the nations, [what then?]
As also in Hosea he saith—I will call the not-my-people, My people, and the not-beloved, beloved,
26 ೨೬ ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಜನರಲ್ಲವೆಂದು’ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತೋ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅವರು ‘ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು’” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
And it shall be—in the place where it was said [to them]—not my people are, ye! there, shall they be called—Sons of a Living God.
27 ೨೭ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಶಾಯನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ: “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಉಸುಬಿನಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಮಾತ್ರ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವರು” “ಕರ್ತನು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ವಚನವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೆರಿಸಿಮುಗಿಸುವನು” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
Isaiah, moreover, exclaimeth over Israel—Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant, shall be saved;
For, a complete and concise account, will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 ೨೯ “ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಂತಾನವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸದೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ “ಸೊದೋಮಿನ ಗತಿಯೇ ನಮಗಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಗೊಮೋರದ ದುರ್ದೆಸೆಯೇ ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು” ಎಂದು ಮೊದಲೇ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
And, even as Isaiah hath before said, —If, the Lord of hosts, had not left us a seed, as Sodom, had we become, and, as Gomorrha, had we been made like.
What, then, shall we say? That, they of the nations, who were not in pursuit of righteousness, have laid hold of righteousness, —a righteousness, however, which is by faith;
31 ೩೧ ಆದರೆ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ದೊರಕಿಸುವ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು.
Whereas, Israel, though in pursuit of a law of righteousness, unto a law, have not attained.
Wherefore? Because, not by faith but as by works, [have they sought it]: they have stumbled at the stone of stumbling,
33 ೩೩ ಆ ಎಡವುವ ಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಎಡವಿಬಿದ್ದರು. ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ, “ಇಗೋ ಚೀಯೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಡವುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ ಮುಗ್ಗರಿಸುವ ಬಂಡೆಯನ್ನೂ ಇಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಡುವವನು ಆಶಾಭಂಗಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
Even as it is written—Lo! I lay in Zion, a stone to strike against and a rock to stumble over, and, he that resteth faith thereupon, shall not be put to shame.
