1 ೧ ದೇಶಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಭಕ್ತನು ದೇವದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಂಬಲಿಸುವುದು. ಪ್ರಧಾನಗಾಯಕನ ಕೀರ್ತನ ಸಂಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದು; ಕೋರಹೀಯರ ಪದ್ಯ. ದೇವರೇ, ಬಾಯಾರಿದ ಜಿಂಕೆಯು ನೀರಿನ ತೊರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತದೆ.

2 ೨ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ದೇವರಿಗಾಗಿ, ಚೈತನ್ಯಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತದೆ; ನಾನು ಯಾವಾಗ ಹೋಗಿ ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವೆನೋ?

3 ೩ “ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿ?” ಎಂದು ಜನರು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ, ಹಗಲಿರುಳು ನನಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣೀರೇ ಆಹಾರವಾಯಿತು.

4 ೪ ನಾನು ಭಜನೋತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿ, ಜನಸಮೂಹದೊಡನೆ ಹರ್ಷಧ್ವನಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದದ್ದನ್ನೇ ನೆನಪಿಗೆ ತಂದುಕೊಂಡು, ನನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ನಾನೇ ಹಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವೆನು.

5 ೫ ನನ್ನ ಮನವೇ, ನೀನು ಕುಗ್ಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರುವುದೇನು? ಹೀಗೆ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಡುವುದೇಕೆ? ದೇವರನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸು; ಆತನೇ ನನಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಕನೂ ದೇವರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಾನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಆತನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವೆನು.

6 ೬ ನನ್ನ ದೇವರೇ, ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಕುಗ್ಗಿಹೋಗಿದೆ; ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯ ದೇಶ, ಹೆರ್ಮೋನ್ ಪರ್ವತ, ಮಿಸಾರ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವವನಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

7 ೭ ನಿನ್ನ ಜಲಪಾತಗಳಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಮಹಾಘೋಷವು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರವಾಹವು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪ್ರವಾಹವನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತದೋ ಎಂಬಂತಿರುವುದು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನೀನು ಅಲ್ಲಕಲ್ಲೋಲವಾದ ದುಃಖ ಪ್ರವಾಹದ ತೆರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಿಂದ ದಾಟಿಸಿದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ.

8 ೮ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹಗಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸುವನು; ರಾತ್ರಿ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಆತನ ಕೀರ್ತನೆ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವುದು. ನನ್ನ ಜೀವಾಧಾರಕನಾದ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವೆನು.

9 ೯ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಶರಣನಿಗೆ, “ದೇವರೇ, ಏಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಿ? ನಾನು ಏಕೆ ಶತ್ರುಬಾಧೆಯಿಂದ ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತಾ ವಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಲೆಯಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ಮೊರೆಯಿಡುವೆನು.
