ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಳು 137

1 ೧ ನಾವು ಬಾಬೆಲ್ ದೇಶದ ನದಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು, ಚೀಯೋನನ್ನು ನೆನಪುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅತ್ತೆವು.

BY the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

2 ೨ ಆ ದೇಶದ ನೀರವಂಜಿ ಮರಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಿನ್ನರಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೂಗುಹಾಕಿದೆವು.

We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

3 ೩ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು ಪೀಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ನಮಗೆ, “ಚೀಯೋನಿನ ಗೀತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ವಿನೋದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಾಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4 ೪ ನಾವು ಪರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ?

How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?

5 ೫ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮೇ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ನನ್ನ ಬಲಗೈಯು ತನ್ನ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮರೆತು ಹೋಗಲಿ.

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

6 ೬ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮೇ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲಾದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆನಂದಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯು ಸೇದಿಹೋಗಲಿ.

If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

7 ೭ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಹಾನಿಗಾಗಿ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ನಾಶನದ ದಿನವನ್ನು ನೆನಪುಮಾಡಿಕೋ. ಅವರು, “ಅದನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿರಿ, ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರ ಸಹಿತ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರಲ್ಲಾ.

Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

8 ೮ ಹಾಳಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕಿರುವ ಬಾಬೆಲ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವೇ, ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸುವವನು ಧನ್ಯನು.

O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

9 ೯ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಳಿಸುವವನು ಭಾಗ್ಯಹೊಂದಲಿ.

Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
