ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 29

1 ೧ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಗದರಿಸಿದರೂ ತಗ್ಗದವನು, ಏಳದ ಹಾಗೆ ಫಕ್ಕನೆ ಮುರಿದು ಬೀಳುವನು.

He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2 ೨ ಶಿಷ್ಟರ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸ, ದುಷ್ಟನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನರಳಾಟ.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

3 ೩ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವನು ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಹರ್ಷಗೊಳಿಸುವನು, ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯ ಸಂಗಡಿಗನು ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth [his] substance.

4 ೪ ನ್ಯಾಯಪಾಲಕನಾದ ರಾಜನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತರುವನು, ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ತೆರಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಸಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವನು.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

5 ೫ ನೆರೆಯವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಂಚನೆಯ ಸವಿನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡುವವನು, ಅವನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗೆ ಬಲೆಯನ್ನೊಡ್ಡುವನು.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

6 ೬ ಕೆಟ್ಟವನ ದುರ್ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಉರುಲುಂಟು, ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನು ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಗೊಂಡು ಹರ್ಷಧ್ವನಿಗೈಯುವನು.

In the transgression of an evil man [there is] a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7 ೭ ಶಿಷ್ಟನು ಬಡವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದಿರುವನು, ದುಷ್ಟನಿಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವಷ್ಟು ವಿವೇಕವಿಲ್ಲ.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: [but] the wicked regardeth not to know [it].

8 ೮ ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಸುವರು, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳೋ ರೋಷಾಗ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಆರಿಸುವರು.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise [men] turn away wrath.

9 ೯ ಮೂರ್ಖನ ಸಂಗಡ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡುವಾಗ, ರೇಗಿದರೂ, ನಕ್ಕರೂ ಜಗಳವು ತೀರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

[If] a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, [there is] no rest.

10 ೧೦ ಕೊಲೆಪಾತಕರು ನಿರ್ದೋಷಿಯನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವರು, ಯಥಾರ್ಥವಂತನ ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೂ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುವರು.

The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

11 ೧೧ ಮೂಢನು ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತೋರಿಸುವನು, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ತಡೆದು ಶಮನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise [man] keepeth it in till afterwards.

12 ೧೨ ಸುಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯ ಸೇವಕರೆಲ್ಲಾ ದುಷ್ಟರೇ.

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants [are] wicked.

13 ೧೩ ತಗ್ಗುವವನು, ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವವನು ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎದುರುಬದುರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಳೆಕೊಟ್ಟವನು.

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

14 ೧೪ ಬಡವರನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುವ ರಾಜನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವು ಶಾಶ್ವತವು.

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

15 ೧೫ ಬೆತ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆದರಿಕೆಗಳಿಂದ ಜ್ಞಾನವುಂಟಾಗುವುದು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಹುಡುಗನು ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯುವನು.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.

16 ೧೬ ದುಷ್ಟರ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪಾಪವೃದ್ಧಿ, ಶಿಷ್ಟರೋ ಅವರ ಬೀಳುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ನೋಡುವರು.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

17 ೧೭ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸು, ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸುವನು, ಅವನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮೃಷ್ಟಾನ್ನವಾಗುವನು.

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18 ೧೮ ದೇವದರ್ಶನ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ನಾಶವಾಗುವರು, ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನೋ ಧನ್ಯನಾಗುವನು.

Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.

19 ೧೯ ಆಳು ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಲಾರನು, ಅವನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರೂ ಗಮನಿಸನು.

A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

20 ೨೦ ದುಡುಕಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವವನನ್ನು ನೋಡು, ಅಂಥವನಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಮೂಢನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಇಡಬಹುದು.

Seest thou a man [that is] hasty in his words? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.

21 ೨೧ ಆಳನ್ನು ಬಾಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ಕೋಮಲವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕಿದರೆ, ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ಎದುರುಬೀಳುವನು.

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become [his] son at the length.

22 ೨೨ ಕೋಪಿಷ್ಠನು ಜಗಳವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸುವನು, ಕ್ರೋಧಶೀಲನು ದೋಷಭರಿತನು.

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

23 ೨೩ ಗರ್ವವು ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ದೀನಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ತರುವುದು, ದೀನಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವನು ಮಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವನು.

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24 ೨೪ ಕಳ್ಳನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪಾಲುಗಾರನಾದವನು ತನಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಶತ್ರು, ಆಣೆಯಿಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೂ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವನು.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth [it] not.

25 ೨೫ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಭಯ ಉರುಲು, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭರವಸ ಉದ್ಧಾರ.

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

26 ೨೬ ಅನೇಕರು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವನ್ನು ಕೋರುವರು, ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರ್ಪು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದಲೇ ಆಗುವುದು.

Many seek the ruler’s favour; but [every] man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.

27 ೨೭ ಶಿಷ್ಟರಿಗೆ ದುರ್ಮಾರ್ಗಿಯು ಅಸಹ್ಯನು, ದುಷ್ಟರಿಗೆ ಸರಳಮಾರ್ಗಿಯು ಅಸಹ್ಯನು.

An unjust man [is] an abomination to the just: and [he that is] upright in the way [is] abomination to the wicked.
