ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 27

1 ೧ ನಾಳೆ ಎಂದು ಕೊಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ, ಒಂದು ದಿನದೊಳಗೆ ಏನಾಗುವುದೋ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದು.

Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day brings forth.

2 ೨ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೀನೇ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಹೊಗಳಿದರೆ ಹೊಗಳಲಿ, ಆತ್ಮಸ್ತುತಿ ಬೇಡ, ಪರನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿದರೆ ಸ್ತುತಿಸಲಿ.

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth, A stranger, and not your own lips.

3 ೩ ಕಲ್ಲು ಭಾರ, ಮರಳು ಭಾರ, ಎರಡಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಮೂಢನ ಕೋಪವು ಬಲು ಭಾರ.

A stone [is] heavy, and the sand [is] heavy, And the anger of a fool Is heavier than them both.

4 ೪ ಕೋಪವು ಕ್ರೂರ, ಕ್ರೋಧವು ಪ್ರವಾಹ, ಮತ್ಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಯಾರು ನಿಂತಾರು?

Fury [is] fierce, and anger [is] overflowing, And who stands before jealousy?

5 ೫ ಕಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಪಡದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾದ ಗದರಿಕೆಯು ಲೇಸು.

Better [is] open reproof than hidden love.

6 ೬ ಮಿತ್ರನು ಮಾಡುವ ಗಾಯಗಳು ಮೇಲಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ, ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಮುದ್ದುಗಳು ಹೇರಳವಾಗಿವೆ.

The wounds of a lover are faithful, And the kisses of an enemy [are] abundant.

7 ೭ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆತುಂಬಿದವನಿಗೆ ಜೇನುತುಪ್ಪವೂ ಅಸಹ್ಯ, ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಹಸಿದವನಿಗೆ ಕಹಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಿಹಿ.

A satiated soul treads down a honeycomb, And every bitter thing [is] sweet [to] a hungry soul.

8 ೮ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅಲೆಯುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು, ಗೂಡನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅಲೆಯುವ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ.

As a bird wandering from her nest, So [is] a man wandering from his place.

9 ೯ ತೈಲವೂ, ಸುಗಂಧದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳೂ ಹೇಗೋ, ಮಿತ್ರನ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆಯಿಂದ ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಸ್ನೇಹರಸವು ಹಾಗೆ ಮನೋಹರ.

Perfume and incense make the heart glad, And the sweetness of one’s friend—from counsel of the soul.

10 ೧೦ ನಿನಗೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೂ ಮಿತ್ರನಾದವನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಬೇಡ, ನಿನ್ನ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸದಿರು, ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗಿಂತ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗಿರುವ ನೆರೆಯವನು ಲೇಸು.

Do not forsake your own friend and the friend of your father, And do not enter the house of your brother in a day of your calamity, A near neighbor [is] better than a brother far off.

11 ೧೧ ಮಗನೇ, ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸು, ಹಾಗಾದರೆ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದೂರುವವನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲಾಗುವುದು.

Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, And I return a word [to] my reproacher.

12 ೧೨ ಜಾಣನು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು, ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಷ್ಟಪಡುವನು.

The prudent has seen the evil, he is hidden, The simple have passed on, they are punished.

13 ೧೩ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೋ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನನ್ನೇ ಒತ್ತೆಮಾಡಿಕೋ.

Take his garment when a stranger has been guarantor, And pledge it for a strange woman.

14 ೧೪ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ಎದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೂಗಿನಿಂದ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವವನು, ಶಪಿಸುವವನೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

Whoever is greeting his friend with a loud voice, Rising early in the morning, It is reckoned a light thing to him.

15 ೧೫ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಳೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಟತಟನೆ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಕ್ಕುವ ಹನಿ, ತಂಟೆಮಾಡುವ ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಎರಡೂ ಒಂದೇ.

A continual dropping in a day of rain, And a woman of contentions are alike,

16 ೧೬ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸುವವನು ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸುವನು, ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಬಲಗೈ ಜಿಡ್ಡಿನ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದು.

Whoever is hiding her has hidden the wind, And the ointment of his right hand calls out.

17 ೧೭ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣವು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಹರಿತಮಾಡುವುದೋ, ಮಿತ್ರನು ಮಿತ್ರನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಹರಿತಮಾಡುವನು.

Iron is sharpened by iron, And a man sharpens the face of his friend.

18 ೧೮ ಅಂಜೂರದ ಮರವನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವವನು ಅದರ ಫಲವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವನು, ಯಜಮಾನನ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ನಡೆಯುವವನು ಸನ್ಮಾನವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವನು.

The keeper of a fig tree eats its fruit, And the preserver of his master is honored.

19 ೧೯ ನೀರು ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೃದಯವು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

As [in] water the face [is] to face, So the heart of man to man.

20 ೨೦ ಪಾತಾಳಕ್ಕೂ, ನಾಶಲೋಕಕ್ಕೂ ಹೇಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲ. (Sheol h7585)

Sheol and destruction are not satisfied, And the eyes of man are not satisfied. (Sheol h7585)

21 ೨೧ ಪುಟಕುಲುಮೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಶೋಧನೆಯು ಹೇಗೋ, ಹೊಗಳಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಶೋಧನೆಯು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.

A refining pot [is] for silver, and a furnace for gold, And a man according to his praise.

22 ೨೨ ಗೋದಿರವೆಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮೂರ್ಖನನ್ನು ಒರಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒನಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕುಟ್ಟಿದರೂ, ಮೂರ್ಖತನವು ಅವನಿಂದ ತೊಲಗದು.

If you beat the foolish in a mortar, Among washed things—with a pestle, His folly does not turn aside from off him.

23 ೨೩ ನಿನ್ನ ಹಿಂಡುಗಳ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರು, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಂದೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಡು.

Know the face of your flock well, Set your heart to the droves,

24 ೨೪ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವಷ್ಟೆ, ಕಿರೀಟವು ತಲತಲಾಂತರಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ನಿಂತೀತೋ?

For riches [are] not for all time, Nor a crown to generation and generation.

25 ೨೫ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕೊಯ್ದು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಸಿಹುಲ್ಲು ತಲೆದೋರುವುದು, ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳ ಸೊಪ್ಪನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಡುವರು.

The hay was revealed, and the tender grass seen, And the herbs of mountains gathered.

26 ೨೬ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಉಡುಪಾಗುವುದು, ಆಡುಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಲದ ಕ್ರಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವುದು.

Lambs [are] for your clothing, And the price of the field [are] male goats,

27 ೨೭ ನಿನ್ನ ಊಟಕ್ಕೂ, ಮನೆಯವರ ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೂ ಮೇಕೆಯ ಹಾಲು ಬೇಕಾದಷ್ಟಾಗುವುದು, ಅದು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯರಿಗೆ ಜೀವನವಾಗುವುದು.

And a sufficiency of goats’ milk [is] for your bread, For bread to your house, and life to your girls!
