ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 20

1 ೧ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ, ಮದ್ಯವು ಕೂಗಾಟ, ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪಿ ಹೋಗುವವನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಲ್ಲ.

Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

2 ೨ ರಾಜನು ಗರ್ಜಿಸುವ ಸಿಂಹದಂತೆ ಭಯಂಕರನು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕುವವನು ತನಗೇ ಕೆಡುಕುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

The fear of a king [is] as the roaring of a lion: [whoever] provoketh him to anger sinneth [against] his own soul.

3 ೩ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೂರವಿರುವವನು ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನು, ಜಗಳವು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಮೂರ್ಖನಿಗೂ ಸಹಜ.

[It is] an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

4 ೪ ಮೈಗಳ್ಳನು ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಸುಗ್ಗೀಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಏನು ಸಿಕ್ಕೀತು?

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; [therefore] shall he beg in harvest, and [have] nothing.

5 ೫ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೃದಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪವು ಆಳವಾದ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರು. ಆದರೆ ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಅದನ್ನು ಸೇದಬಲ್ಲನು.

Counsel in the heart of man [is like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

6 ೬ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರು ಬಹಳ ಜನರು, ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವನು?

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

7 ೭ ಸದ್ಧರ್ಮಿಯು ನಿರ್ದೋಷವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವನು, ಅವನು ಗತಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಭಾಗ್ಯವಂತರು.

The just [man] walketh in his integrity: his children [are] blessed after him.

8 ೮ ರಾಜನು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಸನಾರೂಢನಾಗಿ, ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಸಕಲ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೂರುವನು.

A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

9 ೯ “ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನನ್ನ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಿರ್ಮಲನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಯಾರು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲರು?

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

10 ೧೦ ತೂಕದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ, ಅಳತೆಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು, ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವುದು ಇವೆರಡೂ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ.

Divers weights, [and] divers measures, both of them [are] alike abomination to the LORD.

11 ೧೧ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗನಾದರೂ ಶುದ್ಧವೂ, ಸತ್ಯವೂ ಆದ ನಡತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ, ತನ್ನ ಗುಣವನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work [is] pure, and whether [it is] right.

12 ೧೨ ಕೇಳುವ ಕಿವಿ, ನೋಡುವ ಕಣ್ಣು, ಇವೆರಡನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

13 ೧೩ ನಿದ್ರಾನಿರತನಾಗಿರಬೇಡ! ಬಡವನಾದೀಯೆ, ಕಣ್ಣು ತೆರೆ! ಆಹಾರದಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿಗೊಳ್ಳುವಿ.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thy eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

14 ೧೪ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು, “ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

[It is] naught, [it is] naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone, then he boasteth.

15 ೧೫ ಹೊನ್ನು ಉಂಟು, ಹವಳದ ರಾಶಿ ಉಂಟು, ಆದರೆ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ತುಟಿಗಳೇ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಆಭರಣ.

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge [are] a precious jewel.

16 ೧೬ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೋ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನನ್ನೇ ಒತ್ತೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ.

Take his garment that is surety [for] a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

17 ೧೭ ಮೋಸದಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಆಹಾರವು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ರುಚಿ, ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಬಾಯಿ ಮರಳಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದು.

Bread of deceit [is] sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18 ೧೮ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು ಮಂತ್ರಾಲೋಚನೆಯಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರುವವು, ಮಂತ್ರಾಲೋಚನೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನಡಿಸು.

[Every] purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

19 ೧೯ ಚಾಡಿಕೋರನು ಗುಟ್ಟನ್ನು ರಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡುವನು, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ತುಟಿ ಬಿಗಿಹಿಡಿಯದವನ ಗೊಡವೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ.

He that goeth about [as] a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

20 ೨೦ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಶಪಿಸುವವನ ದೀಪವು, ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಅಂಧಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಿಹೋಗುವುದು.

Whoever curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

21 ೨೧ ಮೊದಲು ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಾಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಸ್ವತ್ತು, ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದು ಹೋಗುವುದು.

An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.

22 ೨೨ ಕೇಡಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವೆನು ಅನ್ನಬೇಡ, ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರು, ಆತನೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಉದ್ಧರಿಸುವನು.

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; [but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

23 ೨೩ ತೂಕದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು, ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವುದು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ, ಮೋಸದ ತಕ್ಕಡಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ.

Divers weights [are] an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance [is] not good.

24 ೨೪ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸುವವನು ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಆಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ, ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಾನು?

Man's goings [are] of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

25 ೨೫ “ಇದು ದೇವರಿಗಾಗಿ” ಎಂದು ದುಡುಕಿ ಹರಕೆಮಾಡುವುದು, ಹರಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಮೇಲೆ ವಿಚಾರಮಾಡುವುದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಉರುಲು.

[It is] a snare to the man [who] devoureth [that which is] holy, and after vows to make inquiry.

26 ೨೬ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಅರಸನು ದುಷ್ಟರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣದ ಗುಂಡನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ತೂರಿಬಿಡುವನು.

A wise king scatterreth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

27 ೨೭ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೀಪವಾಗಿದೆ, ಅದು ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

28 ೨೮ ರಾಜನ ಕೃಪಾಸತ್ಯತೆಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವವು, ಅವನ ಕರುಣೆಯೇ ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಆಧಾರ.

Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.

29 ೨೯ ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಬಲವು ಭೂಷಣ, ಮುದುಕರಿಗೆ ನರೆಯು ಒಡವೆ.

The glory of young men [is] their strength: and the beauty of old men [is] the gray head.

30 ೩೦ ಗಾಯಮಾಡುವ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಬಿಡುವುದು, ಏಟುಗಳು ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಿಮಾಡುವುದು.

The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so [do] stripes the inward parts of the belly.
