ಅರಣ್ಯಕಾಂಡ 23
1 ೧ ಆಗ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನಿಗೆ, “ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸು ಮತ್ತು ಏಳು ಹೋರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಏಳು ಟಗರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Balaam said to Balak, "Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bulls and seven rams."
2 ೨ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಮತ್ತು ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಒಂದು ಟಗರನ್ನೂ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bull and a ram.
3 ೩ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಇರು. ನಾನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರ ಹೋಗಿ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದು, ಆತನು ನನಗೆ ಏನನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವನೋ ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಮರವಿಲ್ಲದ ಒಂದು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು.
Balaam said to Balak, "Station yourself by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps God will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell you." And Balak went off and stationed himself by his offering, and Balaam called to God and went off to a barren height.
4 ೪ ದೇವರು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಆತನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಆ ಏಳು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನು, ಒಂದು ಟಗರನ್ನು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And God met Balaam, and he said to him, "I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on every altar."
5 ೫ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟು, “ನೀನು ಬಾಲಾಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And God put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, "Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak."
6 ೬ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ತಾನು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನು. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.
He returned to him, and look, he was standing by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
7 ೭ ಆಗ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಪದ್ಯರೂಪವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಬಾಲಾಕನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆರಾಮಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನು, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ಪೂರ್ವ ಪರ್ವತಗಳಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದನು, ‘ನೀನು ಬಂದು ಯಾಕೋಬ ವಂಶದವರನ್ನು ನನಗಾಗಿ ಶಪಿಸಬೇಕು.’ ‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ.’
He took up his parable, and said, "From Aram has Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East. 'Come, curse Jacob for me. Come, defy Israel.'
How shall I curse whom YHWH has not cursed? How shall I defy whom God has not defied?
9 ೯ ಬಂಡೆಗಳ ಶಿಖರದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಗುಡ್ಡದಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆ ಜನಾಂಗವು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವುದು. ಆ ಜನಾಂಗವು ಇತರ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಂತೆ ಸಾಧಾರಣ ಜನರೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
For from the top of the rocks I see him. From the hills I see him. Look, it is a people that dwells alone, and not counting itself among the nations.
10 ೧೦ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಧೂಳನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರಿಂದಾದಿತು? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಒಂದು ಭಾಗವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರಿಂದಾದಿತು? ನೀತಿವಂತನು ಸಾಯುವಂತೆ ನಾನು ಸಾಯಬೇಕು. ಅವರಿಗುಂಟಾಗುವ ಅವಸಾನವು ನನಗೂ ಆಗಬೇಕು!” ಎಂದನು.
Who can count the dust of Jacob, and who has numbered the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous. Let my last end be like his."
11 ೧೧ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ನನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದೆನು. ನೀನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸದೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and look, you have blessed them altogether."
He answered and said, "Must I not be careful to speak that which God puts in my mouth?"
13 ೧೩ ಆಗ ಬಾಲಾಕನು, “ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೂಡ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ನೋಡದೆ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವವರನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡುವಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದನು.
Balak said to him, "Please come with me to another place, where you may see them; you shall see but the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse them for me from there."
14 ೧೪ ಹೀಗೆ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಬಿಳಾಮನನ್ನು ಪಿಸ್ಗಾ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಚೋಫೀಮ್ ಬಯಲು ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಏಳು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಟಗರನ್ನೂ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.
He took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.
15 ೧೫ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೋ. ನಾನು ಆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
He said to Balak, "Station yourself here by your burnt offering, while I meet over there."
16 ೧೬ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಅವನು ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ನೀನು ಬಾಲಾಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು” ಎಂದನು.
And God met Balaam and put a word in his mouth, and said, "Return to Balak, and say this."
17 ೧೭ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ತಾನು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ವೇದಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನು. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದರು. ಬಾಲಾಕನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಏನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ?” ಎಂದನು.
He came to him, and look, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. Balak said to him, "What has YHWH spoken?"
18 ೧೮ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಪದ್ಯರೂಪವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಬಾಲಾಕನೇ, ಎದ್ದು ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟು ಕೇಳು. ಚಿಪ್ಪೋರನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು.
He took up his parable, and said, "Rise up, Balak, and hear. Listen to me, you son of Zippor.
19 ೧೯ ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಂತೆ ಎರಡು ಮಾತಿನವನಲ್ಲ. ಮಾನವನಂತೆ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸುವವನಲ್ಲ. ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯದಿರುತ್ತಾನೆಯೇ? ಮಾತುಕೊಟ್ಟ ನಂತರ ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?
Look, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can't reverse it.
21 ೨೧ ಈ ಯಾಕೋಬನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಆಪತ್ತಿನ ಸೂಚನೆಯೂ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಥವಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ವಿಪತ್ತಿನ ಸೂಚನೆಯೂ ತೋರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಜಯ ಘೋಷವು ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತ ಇದೆ.
He has not seen iniquity in Jacob. Neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. YHWH his God is with him. The shout of a king is among them.
God brings them out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox.
23 ೨೩ ಯಾಕೋಬರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾದ ಶಕುನವಿಲ್ಲ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣಿ ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬದಲಾಗಿ, ಯಾಕೋಬ ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುವರು. ‘ದೇವರು ಮಾಡುವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿರಿ!’
Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, what has God done.
24 ೨೪ ಇಗೋ, ಜನಾಂಗದವರು ಎದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸಿಂಹದಂತೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಸಿಂಹವು ಮೃಗವನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ತೃಪ್ತಿಹೊಂದದ ಹೊರತು ಮಲಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ತಾನು ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡಿದ ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ಮಲಗುವುದು.”
Look, the people rises up as a lioness, as a lion he lifts himself up. He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain."
Balak said to Balaam, "Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all."
26 ೨೬ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾನು ಹೇಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದನು.
But Balaam answered Balak, "Did I not tell you, saying, 'All that God speaks, that I must do?'"
27 ೨೭ ತರುವಾಯ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ, “ಬೇರೊಂದು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಬಾ; ಅಲ್ಲಿಯಾದರೂ ನೀನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರು ಅನುಮತಿ ಕೊಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Balak said to Balaam, "Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there."
28 ೨೮ ಆದಕಾರಣ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಬಿಳಾಮನನ್ನು ಪೆಗೋರ್ ಎಂಬ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು. ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ಯೆಷೀಮೋನ್ ಎಂಬ ಅರಣ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down on the desert.
29 ೨೯ ಆಗ ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಬಾಲಾಕನಿಗೆ, “ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಏಳು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಏಳು ಹೋರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಏಳು ಟಗರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು
Balaam said to Balak, "Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bulls and seven rams."
30 ೩೦ ಬಿಳಾಮನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬಾಲಾಕನು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಯಜ್ಞ ವೇದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನೂ. ಒಂದು ಟಗರನ್ನೂ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.
Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.
