ಅರಣ್ಯಕಾಂಡ 20
1 ೧ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರು “ಚಿನ್” ಎಂಬ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಕಾದೇಶಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿರ್ಯಾಮಳು ತೀರಿಹೋದಳು. ಆಕೆಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
And the children of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the desert of Zin in the first month, and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
3 ೩ ಜನರು ಮೋಶೆಯ ಸಂಗಡ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡಿ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದಾಗಲೇ ನಾವೂ ಸಹ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿತ್ತು.
And the people quarreled with Moses, and said thus, Oh that we had but perished when our brethren perished before the Lord!
And why have ye brought the congregation of the Lord into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle!
5 ೫ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬರಮಾಡಿ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೀರಿ? ಈ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾನ್ಯವೂ, ಅಂಜೂರವೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿಯೂ, ದಾಳಿಂಬೆಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರೂ ಸಹ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
And wherefore have ye caused us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place for sowing, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; and water even there is none to drink.
6 ೬ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರು ಜನಸಮೂಹದ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ದೇವದರ್ಶನದ ಗುಡಾರದ ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬೋರಲುಬಿದ್ದಾಗ ಯೆಹೋವನ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು.
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto them.
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
8 ೮ “ನೀನು ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಆರೋನನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮೂಹದವರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಆ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ನೀರುಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸು. ಅದರೊಳಗಿಂದ ನೀರು ಹೊರಟುಬರುವುದು, ನೀನು ಸಮೂಹದವರಿಗೂ, ಅವರ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೂ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Take the staff, and gather the assembly together, thou, with Aaron thy brother, and ye shall speak unto the rock before their eyes, that it shall give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth for them water out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.
And Moses took the staff from before the Lord, as he had commanded him.
10 ೧೦ ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರು ಸಮೂಹದವರನ್ನು ಆ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮೋಶೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳೇ, ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ನಾವು ಈ ಬಂಡೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದಲೇ ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನೀರನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಬೇಕೋ?”
And Moses and Aaron assembled the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels! shall we out of this rock bring forth water for you?
11 ೧೧ ಆಗ ಮೋಶೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ಕೋಲಿನಿಂದ ಬಂಡೆಯನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆದನು. ಆಗ ನೀರು ಪ್ರವಾಹವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟಿತು. ಸಮೂಹದವರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪಶುಗಳೂ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿದರು.
And Moses lifted up his hand, and he smote the rock with his staff twice: and there came out much water, and the congregation drank, together with their cattle.
12 ೧೨ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋನರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಂಬದವರಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡದೆ ಹೋದುದರಿಂದ ಈ ಸಮೂಹದವರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye have not confided in me, to sanctify me before the eyes of the children of Israel: therefore shall ye not bring this congregation into the land which I have given to them.
13 ೧೩ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸಂಗಡ ವಾದಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ನೀರು ಬಂದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ “ಮೆರೀಬಾ” ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದನು.
These are the waters of Meribah; where the children of Israel quarreled with the Lord, and through which he was sanctified.
14 ೧೪ ಮೋಶೆ ಕಾದೇಶಿನಿಂದ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ನಮಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ತಾವು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus hath said thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the hardship that hath befallen us.
15 ೧೫ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದು ಹೋದರು. ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುದಿನ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಉಪದ್ರವಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt many days; and the Egyptians did evil to us, and to our fathers:
16 ೧೬ ನಾವು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡಲಾಗಿ, ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಮಾಡಿದನು. ಈಗ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಾದೇಶ್ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
And we cried unto the Lord, and he heard our voice, and he sent a messenger, and caused us to go forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city at the outmost end of thy border.
17 ೧೭ ತಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಾವು ಹೊಲವನ್ನಾದರೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟವನ್ನಾದರೂ ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಾವಿಗಳ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಡೆದು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟುವ ತನಕ ಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ, ಎಡಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ತಿರುಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಸಿದನು.
Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy country; we will not pass through field, or through vineyard, and we will not drink the water of the wells: by the king's highway will we go, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.
18 ೧೮ ಆದರೆ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರು, “ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೀವು ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು. ದಾಟುವುದಾದರೆ ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through my land, lest I come against thee with the sword.
19 ೧೯ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು, “ನಾವು ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಹೋಗುವೆವು. ನಾವೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಶುಗಳೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಅದರ ಬೆಲೆ ಕೊಡುವೆವು. ಬೇರೆ ಏನನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೆ, ಕಾಲ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕಷ್ಟೇ ನಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the highway: and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I pay its value; I will do thee no injury, only on foot will I pass through.
20 ೨೦ ಆದರೆ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರು, “ನೀವು ದಾಟಲೇ ಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟು ಬಹುಜನರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
And he said, Thou shalt not pass through; and Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
21 ೨೧ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡದೆ ಹೋದುದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅವರ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೇರೊಂದು ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟರು.
And as Edom thus refused to permit Israel to pass through his border, Israel turned away from him.
And they set forward from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor.
And the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron at mount Hor, by the boundary of the land of Edom, as followeth,
24 ೨೪ “ಆರೋನನು ತನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರುವನು. ನೀವಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಮೆರೀಬಾ ಪ್ರವಾಹದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದ ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ಆರೋನನು ಸೇರಬಾರದು.
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my order at the waters of Meribah.
Take Aaron and Elazar, his son, and cause them to go up unto mount Hor:
26 ೨೬ ಆರೋನನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನಿಗೆ ತೊಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ಆರೋನನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And cause Aaron to take off his garments, and clothe therewith Elazar his son; and Aaron shall be gathered in, and he shall die there.
27 ೨೭ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರಲಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಹೋರ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದರು.
And Moses did as the Lord had commanded; and they went up to mount Hor before the eyes of all the congregation.
28 ೨೮ ಮೋಶೆ ಆರೋನನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನಿಗೆ ತೊಡಿಸಿದನು. ಆರೋನನು ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದನು. ತರುವಾಯ ಮೋಶೆಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದರು.
And Moses caused Aaron to take off his garments, and he clothed therewith Elazar his son; and Aaron died there on the top of the mount; and Moses and Elazar then came down from the mount.
And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was departed, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
