ನೆಹೆಮೀಯನು 2
1 ೧ ನಾನು ಅರಸನ ಪಾನಸೇವಕನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅರಸನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದ ಚೈತ್ರಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸ ಪಾನಮಾಡುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ತಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು. ನಾನು ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಹಿಂದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಮನಗುಂದಿದವನಂತೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
It happened in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artachshasta the king, when wine was before me, that I took up the wine, and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad before in his presence.
2 ೨ ಅರಸನು ನನಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖ ಕಳೆಗುಂದಿರುವುದೇಕೆ? ನೀನು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥನಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಇದು ಮನೋವೇದನೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿದೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೇನೂ ಕಾರಣ ಇರಲಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ನನಗೆ ಮಹಾ ಭೀತಿಯುಂಟಾಯಿತು.
The king said to me, "Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart." Then I was very much afraid.
3 ೩ ನಾನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ಅರಸನು ಚಿರಂಜೀವಿಯಾಗಿರಲಿ! ನನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಸಮಾಧಿಗಳಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಹಾಳಾಗಿ, ಅದರ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿವೆ; ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಮುಖವು ಕಳೆಗುಂದದೆ ಇರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
I said to the king, "Let the king live forever. Why shouldn't my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?"
Then the king said to me, "For what do you make request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
5 ೫ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು, “ಅರಸನೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಚಿತ್ತವಿರುವುದಾದರೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ತಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಯೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಸಮಾಧಿಗಳಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ನನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may build it."
6 ೬ ರಾಣಿಯು ಅರಸನ ಹತ್ತಿರದಲ್ಲೇ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಳು. ಅರಸನು ನನಗೆ, “ಪ್ರಯಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲ ಬೇಕು? ಯಾವಾಗ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುವಿ” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಾನು ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸಲು ಅರಸನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
The king said to me (the queen was also sitting by him), "For how long shall your journey be? And when will you return?" So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
7 ೭ ತರುವಾಯ ನಾನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನದಿಯಾಚೆಯ ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಾದು ಯೆಹೂದ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡುವ ಹಾಗೂ
Moreover I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah;
8 ೮ ರಾಜವನಪಾಲಕನಾದ ಆಸಾಫನು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕೋಟೆಯ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳು, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆ, ನಾನು ಸೇರುವ ಮನೆ ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗುವ ತೊಲೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅರಸನು ನನಗೆ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಬಿನ್ನವಿಸಲು, ನನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಕೃಪಾಹಸ್ತಪಾಲನೆ ನನಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple, for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into." The king granted my requests, because of the good hand of my God on me.
9 ೯ ಅರಸನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ರಾಹುತರನ್ನೂ ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ನಾನು ನದಿಯಾಚೆಯ ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು.
Then I came to the governors beyond the River, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.
10 ೧೦ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಹಿತಚಿಂತಕನೊಬ್ಬನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಹೋರೋನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವನಾದ ಸನ್ಬಲ್ಲಟನಿಗೂ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ ದೇಶದವನಾದ ಟೋಬೀಯ ಎಂಬ ದಾಸನಿಗೂ ತಲುಪಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಕಿಚ್ಚುಪಟ್ಟರು.
When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, because a man had come to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
12 ೧೨ ಆಮೇಲೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ದೇವರು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಸದೆ, ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲೆದ್ದು ಕೆಲವು ಜನರನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟೆನು. ನನ್ನ ವಾಹನಪಶುವಿನ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಪಶುವೂ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
I arose in the night, I and some few men with me. And I told no one what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem; neither was there any animal with me, except the animal that I rode on.
13 ೧೩ ನಾನು ರಾತ್ರಿವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹಾಳುಬಿದ್ದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಅದರ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾ, ಹೆಬ್ಬಾವು ಬುಗ್ಗೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ತಿಪ್ಪೆಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದೆನು.
I went out by night by the Valley Gate, even toward the Serpent's Well, and to the Dung Gate, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and its gates were consumed with fire.
14 ೧೪ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ಹಾದು ಅರಸನ ಕೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದೆನು. ನನ್ನ ವಾಹನಪಶುವಿಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾರ್ಗವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool, but there was no place for the animal that was under me to pass.
15 ೧೫ ಅದಕಾರಣ ನಾನು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಳ್ಳದ ಬದಿಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆನು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಪುನಃ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದೆನು.
Then went I up in the night by the wadi, and viewed the wall; and I turned back, and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned.
16 ೧೬ ನಾನು ಆ ವರೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ, ಯಾಜಕರಿಗೂ, ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರಿಗೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಇತರರಿಗೂ ಏನೂ ತಿಳಿಸದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆನು, ಏನು ಮಾಡಿದೆನು ಎಂಬುದು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
The rulers did not know where I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest who did the work.
17 ೧೭ ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಮ್ಮ ದುರಾವಸ್ಥೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದಿರುತ್ತದಲ್ಲವೇ; ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಹಾಳು ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ, ಅದರ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತವೆ; ಬನ್ನಿರಿ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟೋಣ. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಣ ನಿಂದೆಯು ಅಳಿಸಿ ಹೋಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
Then I said to them, "You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we won't be disgraced."
18 ೧೮ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ನನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಕೃಪಾಹಸ್ತವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ಅರಸನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದೆನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು, “ಬನ್ನಿರಿ, ಕಟ್ಟೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಲು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಧೈರ್ಯ ನೀಡಿದರು.
I told them of the hand of my God which was good on me, as also of the king's words that he had spoken to me. They said, "Let's rise up and build." So they strengthened their hands for the good work.
19 ೧೯ ಹೋರೋನಿನವನಾದ ಸನ್ಬಲ್ಲಟನೂ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ ದೇಶದವನಾದ ಟೋಬೀಯ ಎಂಬ ದಾಸನೂ, ಅರಬಿಯನಾದ ಗೆಷೆಮನೂ ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಗೇಲಿಮಾಡಿ, “ನೀವು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುವುದೇನು? ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬೀಳಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೀರೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they ridiculed us, and despised us, and said, "What is this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?"
20 ೨೦ ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಪರಲೋಕದ ದೇವರು ನಮಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಿಕೊಡುವನು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಆತನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಾವು ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸುಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಿಮಗಾದರೋ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಪಾಲೂ, ಹಕ್ಕೂ, ಹೆಸರೂ, ಸ್ಮಾರಕವೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು.
Then answered I them, and said to them, "The God of heaven will prosper us. Therefore we, his servants, will arise and build; but you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem."
