ಮಾರ್ಕನು 1
The beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ.
2 ೨ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಯೆಶಾಯನ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, “ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ದೂತನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡುವನು.”
It is said in the Prophet Isaiah — ‘Behold! I send my Messenger before thy face; he shall prepare thy way.
3 ೩ “‘ಕರ್ತನ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿರಿ; ಆತನ ಹಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿರಿ’ ಎಂದು ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಗುವವನ ಶಬ್ದವದೆ” ಎಂಬುದೇ.
The voice of one crying aloud in the Wilderness: “Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”’
4 ೪ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಬಂದು ಜನರಿಗೆ, ನೀವು ಪಾಪಗಳ ಕ್ಷಮಾಪಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ಉಪದೇಶಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು.
And in fulfilment of this, John the Baptizer appeared in the Wilderness, proclaiming a baptism upon repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
5 ೫ ಆಗ ಯೂದಾಯ ಸೀಮೆಯೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಂದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 ೬ ಈ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಒಂಟೆಯ ರೋಮದ ಹೊದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಚರ್ಮದ ನಡುಕಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು; ಅವನು ಮಿಡತೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕಾಡುಜೇನನ್ನೂ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸೇವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
John was clad in clothing of camels’ hair, with a belt of leather round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
7 ೭ ಅವನು “ನನಗಿಂತ ಶಕ್ತನು ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆತನ ಕೆರಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಗ್ಗಿ ಬಿಚ್ಚುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ಯೋಗ್ಯನಲ್ಲ.
and he proclaimed — “There is coming after me one more powerful than I, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
8 ೮ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಆತನಾದರೋ ನಿಮಗೆ ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಂದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
9 ೯ ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯೇಸು ಗಲಿಲಾಯ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ನಜರೇತೆಂಬ ಊರಿನಿಂದ ಬಂದು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಹಾನನಿಂದ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 ೧೦ ಯೇಸುವು ನೀರಿನೊಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಪರಲೋಕವು ತೆರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ದೇವರಾತ್ಮನು ಪಾರಿವಾಳದ ಹಾಗೆ ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿಯುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು.
And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent apart, and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him,
11 ೧೧ ಆಗ “ನೀನು ಪ್ರಿಯನಾಗಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂಬ ದೈವ ವಾಣಿ ಪರಲೋಕದಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು.
and from the heavens came a voice — “Thou art my Son, the Beloved; in thee I delight.”
Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the Wilderness;
13 ೧೩ ಆತನು ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿನ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಡುಮೃಗಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದು ಸೈತಾನನಿಂದ ಶೋಧಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು ಮತ್ತು ದೇವದೂತರು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ ಉಪಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
and he was there in the Wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels ministered to him.
After John had been committed to prison, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God —
“The time has come, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the Good News.”
16 ೧೬ ಯೇಸು ಗಲಿಲಾಯ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಸೀಮೋನನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಂದ್ರೆಯನು ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲೆ ಬೀಸುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು. ಅವರು ಬೆಸ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the Sea, for they were fishermen.
17 ೧೭ ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿರಿ; ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಬೆಸ್ತರನ್ನಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
“Come and follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will set you to fish for men.”
They left their nets at once, and followed him.
19 ೧೯ ಯೇಸು ಇನ್ನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಜೆಬೆದಾಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನನನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡನು; ಅವರು ದೋಣಿಯೊಳಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಬಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸರಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebediah’s son, and his brother John, who also were in their boat mending the nets.
20 ೨೦ ಅವನು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದನು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಜೆಬೆದಾಯನನ್ನು ಕೂಲಿಯಾಳುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ದೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು.
Jesus at once called them, and they left their father Zebediah in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
And they walked into Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the Synagogue and began to teach.
22 ೨೨ ಜನರು ಆತನ ಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಆತ್ಯಾಶ್ಚರ್ಯಪಟ್ಟರು; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಆತನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳಂತೆ ಬೋಧಿಸದೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವಿದ್ದವನಂತೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the Teachers of the Law.
Now there was in their Synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out:
24 ೨೪ ಆ ದೆವ್ವವು, “ನಜರೇತಿನ ಯೇಸುವೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಗೊಡವೆ ನಿನಗೇಕೆ? ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದೆಯಾ? ನೀನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ನಾನು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು. ನೀನು ದೇವರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧನು” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿತು.
“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”
But Jesus rebuked the spirit: “Be silent! Come out from him.”
The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
27 ೨೭ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬೆರಗಾಗಿ, “ಇದೇನು? ಅಧಿಕಾರಸಹಿತವಾದ ಹೊಸ ಬೋಧನೆ! ಈತನು ದೆವ್ವಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಹ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಅವು ಈತನಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ!” ಎಂದು ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ವಿಚಾರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And they were all so amazed that they kept asking: “What is this? Strange teaching indeed! He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!”
And the fame of Jesus spread at once in all directions, through the whole neighbourhood of Galilee.
As soon as they had come out from the Synagogue, they went, with James and John, into the house of Simon and Andrew.
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
31 ೩೧ ಆತನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಆಕೆಯ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಲು ಜ್ವರವು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಯಿತು; ಆಕೆಯು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉಪಚಾರಮಾಡಿದಳು.
Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
and the whole city was gathered round the door.
34 ೩೪ ಆಗ ಆತನು ನಾನಾ ರೀತಿಯ ರೋಗಗಳಿಂದ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬಹು ಜನರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡಿ ಅನೇಕ ದೆವ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಇಂಥವನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡಗೊಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus rose and went out, and, going to a lonely spot, there began to pray.
But Simon and his companions hastened after him;
and, when they found him, they exclaimed: “Every one is looking for you!”
38 ೩೮ ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೇರೆ ಊರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ; ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಾನು ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರಬೇಕು; ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
But Jesus said to them: “Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns near, that I may make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.”
39 ೩೯ ಬಳಿಕ ಆತನು ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತಾ ದೆವ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು.
And he went about making his proclamation in their Synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
40 ೪೦ ಒಬ್ಬ ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಯು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಮೊಣಕಾಲೂರಿಕೊಂಡು, “ನಿನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲೆ” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. “If only you are willing,” he said, “you are able to make me clean.”
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so: “I am willing; become clean.”
Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away, and said to him:
44 ೪೪ ಹೋಗಿ ಯಾಜಕನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೈ ತೋರಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಶುದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿಮೋಶೆಯು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿರುವಂಥವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸು. ಅದು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ” ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೂಡಲೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
“Be careful not to say anything to any one; but go and show yourself to the Priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
45 ೪೫ ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಗೂ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಸಾರಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೇಸು ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ಬೇರೆ ಊರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಾರದೆ ನಿರ್ಜನ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆದರೂ ಜನರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
