ಯೋಬನು 4

1 ೧ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತೇಮಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಎಲೀಫಜನು ಹೀಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು,

Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said: —

2 ೨ “ಒಬ್ಬನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡ ತೊಡಗಿದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇಸರಿಕೆ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದೋ? ಮಾತನಾಡದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರಿಂದಾದೀತು?

If one attempt a word unto thee, wilt thou be impatient? But, to restrain speech, who, can endure?

3 ೩ ಇಗೋ, ನೀನು ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಜೋಲು ಬಿದ್ದ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು ಬಲಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದಿ.

Lo! thou hast admonished many, and, slack hands, hast thou been wont to uphold:

4 ೪ ಎಡವಿ ಬೀಳುವವರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಉದ್ಧರಿಸಿ, ಕುಸಿಯುವ ಮೊಣಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಿ.

Him that was stumbling, have thy words raised up, and, sinking knees, hast thou strengthened.

5 ೫ ಈಗಲಾದರೋ ನಿನಗೆ ಶ್ರಮೆ ಬಂತು, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಬೇಸರಗೊಂಡಿರುವಿ. ಅದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ತಗಲಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ ನಿನಗೆ ಭ್ರಮೆಯುಂಟಾಗಿದೆ.

But, now, it cometh upon thee, and thou despairest, It smiteth even thee, and thou art dismayed.

6 ೬ ನಿನ್ನ ನಂಬಿಕೆಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ಮಾರ್ಗವೂ ಆಧಾರವಲ್ಲವೋ?

Is not, thy reverence, thy confidence? And is not, thy hope, the very integrity of thy ways?

7 ೭ ನೀನೇ ಆಲೋಚನೆಮಾಡು, ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯು ಎಂದಾದರೂ ನಾಶವಾದದ್ದುಂಟೇ? ಯಥಾರ್ಥರು ಅಳಿದು ಹೋದದ್ದೆಲ್ಲಿ?

Remember, I pray thee, who, being innocent, hath perished, or when, the upright, have been cut off.

8 ೮ ನಾನು ನೋಡಿರುವ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಅಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತು, ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಬಿತ್ತುವವರು ಕೇಡನ್ನೇ ಕೊಯ್ಯುವರು.

So far as I have seen, They who plow for iniquity and sow misery, reap the same:

9 ೯ ದೇವರ ಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆತನ ಸಿಟ್ಟೆಂಬ ಗಾಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹಾಳಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

By the blast of GOD, they perish, And, by the breath of his nostrils, are they consumed:

10 ೧೦ ಸಿಂಹ ಗರ್ಜನೆಯೂ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸುವ ಸಿಂಹದ ಧ್ವನಿಯೂ, ಅಡಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸಿಂಹಗಳ ಕೋರೆಗಳು ಮುರಿಯಲ್ಪಡುವವು.

[Notwithstanding] the roaring of the lion, and the noise of the howling lion, yet, the teeth of the fierce lions, are broken:

11 ೧೧ ಮೃಗೇಂದ್ರನು ಆಹಾರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಾಯುವನು. ಸಿಂಹದ ಮರಿಗಳು ಚದರಿಹೋಗುವವು.

The strong lion perishing for lack of prey, Even the whelps of the lioness, are scattered.

12 ೧೨ ಒಂದು ಸಂಗತಿಯು ನನಗೆ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂತು. ಅದು ಪಿಸುಮಾತಿನ ಸದ್ದಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತು.

But, unto me, something was brought by stealth, —and mine ear caught a whispering of the same:

13 ೧೩ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆ ಹತ್ತುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಕನಸುಗಳಿಂದ ಯೋಚನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ

When there were thoughts, from visions of the night, —When deep sleep falleth upon men,

14 ೧೪ ನನಗೆ ಎಲುಬುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡುಗುವಷ್ಟು, ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ದಿಗಿಲು ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.

Dread, came upon me, and trembling, The multitude of my bones, it put in dread:

15 ೧೫ ಆಗ ಆತ್ಮವೊಂದು ನನ್ನ ಮುಖದ ಮುಂದೆ ಸುಳಿಯಲು, ಮೈಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ರೋಮಾಂಚನವಾಯಿತು.

Then, a spirit, over my face, floated along, The hair of my flesh bristled-up:

16 ೧೬ ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ಒಂದು ಆತ್ಮವು ಇತ್ತು, ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದು ಏನೆಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ಕೇಳಬಂತು.”

It stood still, but I could not distinguish its appearance, I looked, but there was no form before mine eyes, —A whispering voice, I heard: —

17 ೧೭ ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀತಿವಂತನಾದಾನೇ? ಮಾನವನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧನಾಗಿರಬಹುದೇ?

Shall, mortal man, be more just than GOD? Or a man be more pure than, his Maker?

18 ೧೮ ಆಹಾ, ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ತನ್ನ ದೂತರ ಮೇಲೆ ತಪ್ಪುಹೊರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.

Lo! in his own servants, he trusteth not, and, his own messengers, he chargeth with error:

19 ೧೯ ಧೂಳಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಮಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದಾದ ಶರೀರಗಳೆಂಬ ಮನೆಗಳೊಳಗೆ ವಾಸಿಸುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೆಷ್ಟೋ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ತಪ್ಪು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯಬಹುದು. ಅವರು ದೀಪದ ಹುಳದಂತೆ ಅಳಿದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

How much more the dwellers in houses of clay, which, in the dust, have their foundation, which are crushed sooner than a moth:

20 ೨೦ ಉದಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ (ಜೀವಿಸಿ) ಜಜ್ಜಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ನಿತ್ಯನಾಶ ಹೊಂದುವುದನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

Betwixt morning and evening, are they broken in pieces, With none to save, they utterly perish:

21 ೨೧ ಅವರ ಗುಡಾರದ ಹಗ್ಗವು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಹೋಗುವುದಷ್ಟೆ. ಅವರು ಜ್ಞಾನವಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿ ಸಾಯುವರು” ಎಂಬುದೇ.

Is not their tent-rope within them, torn away? They die, disrobed of wisdom!
