ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನು 42
1 ೧ ಆಗ ಸಕಲ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು, ಕಾರೇಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನಾನನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಹೋಷಾಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಜನ್ಯನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ದೊಡ್ಡವರ ತನಕ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
Then all the captains of the warriors, and Johanan the son of Caree, and Jezonias the son of Osaias, and the rest of the people from the least to the greatest came near:
2 ೨ ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ದಯಮಾಡು, ನಮ್ಮ ಬಿನ್ನಹವನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು; ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಾಣುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಪಾರ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಕೆಲವರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
And they said to Jeremias the prophet: Let our supplication fall before thee: and pray thou for us to the Lord thy God for all this remnant, for we are left but a few of many, as thy eyes do behold us.
3 ೩ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಾವು ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ತೋರಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಉಳಿದಿರುವ ಈ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸು” ಎಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದರು.
And let the Lord thy God shew us the way by which we may walk, and the thing that we must do.
4 ೪ ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಿನ್ನಹವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆನು; ಇಗೋ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವೆನು; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ದಯಪಾಲಿಸುವನೋ ಒಂದನ್ನೂ ಬಚ್ಚಿಡದೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Jeremias the prophet said to them: I have heard you: behold I will pray to the Lord your God according to your words: and whatsoever thing he shall answer me, I will declare it to you: and I will hide nothing from you.
5 ೫ ಅವರು ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೂಲಕ ನಮಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ನಾವು ನಡೆಯದಿದ್ದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸ್ಥಿರವಾದ ಸತ್ಯಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸಲಿ!
And they said to Jeremias: The Lord be witness between us of truth and faithfulness, if we do not according to every thing for which the Lord thy God shall send thee to us.
6 ೬ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತು ಹಿತವಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಅಹಿತವಾಗಲಿ ಆತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವ ನಾವು ಅದನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆವು; ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭವಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Whether it be good or evil, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God, to whom me send thee: that it may be well with us when we shall hearken to the voice of the Lord our God.
Now after ten days, the word of the Lord came to Jeremias.
8 ೮ ಆಗ ಅವನು ಕಾರೇಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನಾನನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದ ಸಕಲ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಚಿಕ್ಕವರು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ದೊಡ್ಡವರ ತನಕ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದು,
And he called Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest.
9 ೯ “ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆಯನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಿರಲ್ಲಾ; ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೀಗೆನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ,
And he said to them: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel, to whom you sent me, to present your supplications before him:
10 ೧೦ ‘ನೀವು ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವೆನು, ಕೆಡವುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನೆಡುವೆನು, ಕೀಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೇಡಿಗೆ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.
If you will be quiet and remain in this land, I will build you up, and not pull you down: I will plane you, and not pluck you up: for now I am appeased for the evil that I have done to you.
11 ೧೧ ನೀವು ಹೆದರಿರುವ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅಂಜದಿರಿ; ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ. ಇದು ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನನ್ನ ನುಡಿ.
Fear not because of the king of Babylon, of whom you are greatly afraid: fear him not, saith the Lord: for I am with you, to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.
And I will shew mercies to you, and will take pity on you, and will cause you to dwell in your own land.
But if you say: We will not dwell in this land, neither will we hearken to the voice of the Lord our God,
14 ೧೪ ಬೇಡವೇ ಬೇಡ; ನಾವು ಯುದ್ಧ ಕಾಣದೆ, ತುತ್ತೂರಿಯ ಶಬ್ದ ಕೇಳದೆ, ಅನ್ನದ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದ ಹಸಿವಾಗದೆ ಇರುವ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಸಿಸುವೆವು’ ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡರೆ,
Saying: No, but we will go into the land of Egypt: where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor suffer hunger: and there we will dwell.
15 ೧೫ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದವರೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಈಗ ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರೂ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನೂ ಆದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಂತೆನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ, ನೀವು ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹಟಹಿಡಿದು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವುದಾದರೆ,
For this now hear the word of the Lord, ye remnant of Juda: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to go into Egypt, and enter in to dwell there:
16 ೧೬ ಆಗ ನೀವು ಹೆದರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಖಡ್ಗವು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದು, ನೀವು ಅಂಜುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕ್ಷಾಮವು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬೆನ್ನ ಹತ್ತುವುದು; ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾಯುವಿರಿ.
The sword which you fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt: and the famine, whereof you are afraid, shall cleave to you in Egypt, and there you shall die.
17 ೧೭ ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಲು ಹಟಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಇದೇ ಗತಿಯಾಗುವುದು; ಖಡ್ಗ, ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಧಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾಯುವರು. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡುವ ವಿಪತ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಯಾರೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳರು, ಯಾರೂ ಉಳಿಯರು.
And all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt, to dwell there, shall die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence: none of them shall remain, nor escape from the face of the evil that I will bring upon them.
18 ೧೮ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರೂ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನೂ ಆದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಂತೆನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ, ನನ್ನ ಉಗ್ರರೋಷಾಗ್ನಿಯು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಸುರಿಯಿತೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನೀವು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟ ಕೂಡಲೆ ನನ್ನ ರೋಷಾಗ್ನಿಯು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಸುರಿಯುವುದು; ನೀವು ಅಪವಾದ, ವಿಸ್ಮಯ, ಶಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ದೂಷಣೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗುವಿರಿ; ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಮತ್ತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬೀಳದು.’”
For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: As my anger and my indignation hath been kindled against the inhabitants of Jerusalem: so shall my indignation be kindled against you, when you shall enter into Egypt, and you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach: and you shall see this place no more.
19 ೧೯ “ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದವರೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, ‘ಐಗುಪ್ತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿರಿ’ ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ನಾನು ಈ ದಿನ ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿ.
This is the word of the Lord concerning you, O ye remnant of Juda: Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have adjured you this day.
20 ೨೦ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೀವೇ ಮೋಸಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ; ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ‘ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸು; ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯಾವ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೋ ಅದನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು, ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ನಡೆಯುವೆವು’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಿರಲ್ಲಾ.
For you have deceived your own souls: for you sent me to the Lord our God, saying: Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all that the Lord our God shall say to thee, so declare unto us, and we will do it.
21 ೨೧ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಈ ದಿನ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ನೀವಾದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನ್ನ ಮೂಲಕ ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಯಾವ ಮಾತನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And now I have declared it to you this day, and; you have not obeyed the voice of the Lord your God, with regard to all the things for which he hath sent me to you.
22 ೨೨ ನೀವು ಯಾವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಲು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀರೋ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಖಡ್ಗ, ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಧಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾಯುವಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಯಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence in the place to which you desire to go to dwell there.
