ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನು 14
AND THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO JEREMIAS CONCERNING THE DROUGHT.
2 ೨ ಯೆಹೂದವು ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಜನರು ಕಂಗೆಟ್ಟು ಕರ್ರಗಾಗಿ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರ ಗೋಳಾಟವು ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Judea has mourned, and her gates are emptied, and are darkened upon the earth; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 ೩ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿನ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೈಕೆಳಗಿನವರನ್ನು ನೀರು ತರಲು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಕೊಳಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ನೀರು ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬರೀ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಶೆಗೆಟ್ಟು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಟ್ಟು ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
And her nobles have sent their little ones to the water: they came to the wells, and found no water: and brought back their vessels empty.
And the labours of the land failed, because there was no rain: the husbandmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
And hinds calved in the field, and forsook [it], because there was no grass.
6 ೬ ಕಾಡುಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಬೋಳುಗುಡ್ಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ನರಿಗಳಂತೆ ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರುಬಿಟ್ಟು ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತವೆ, ಸೊಪ್ಪುಸದೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಂಗೆಡುತ್ತವೆ.
The wild asses stood by the forests, and snuffed up the wind; their eyes failed, because there was no grass.
7 ೭ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸು. ನಮ್ಮ ದ್ರೋಹಗಳು ಬಹಳ, ನಿನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
Our sins have risen up against us: O Lord, do thou for us for thine own sake; for our sins are many before thee; for we have sinned against thee.
8 ೮ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯೇ, ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಕನೇ, ಏಕೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರದೇಶಿಯಂತೆಯೂ, ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಗುಡಾರಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕನ ಹಾಗೂ ಇದ್ದೀ?
O Lord, [thou art] the hope of Israel, and deliverest [us] in time of troubles; why art thou become as a sojourner upon the land, or as one born in the land, yet turning aside for a resting-place?
9 ೯ ಏಕೆ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಂತೆಯೂ, ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದ ಶೂರನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದೀ? ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಿ. ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನವರು, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡಬೇಡ.
Wilt thou be as a man asleep, or as a [strong] man that cannot save? yet thou art among us, O Lord, and thy name is called upon us; forget us not.
10 ೧೦ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, “ಇವರು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕನ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಕಾಲನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದಕಾರಣ ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನಾನು ಇವರನ್ನು ಕಟಾಕ್ಷಿಸೆನು; ಈಗಲೇ ಇವರ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಇವರ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಗೆ ದಂಡನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
Thus saith the Lord to this people, They have loved to wander, and they have not spared, therefore God has not prospered them; now will he remember their iniquity.
And the Lord said to me, Pray not for this people for [their] good:
12 ೧೨ ಇವರು ಉಪವಾಸಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಇವರ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳೆನು. ಹೋಮನೈವೇದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಲು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸೆನು. ಖಡ್ಗ, ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಧಿಗಳಿಂದ ಇವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
for though they fast, I will not hear their supplication; and though they offer whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifices, I will take no pleasure in them: for I will consume them with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence.
13 ೧೩ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು, “ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಇಗೋ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ, ‘ಖಡ್ಗವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಾಣದು, ಕ್ಷಾಮವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸದು; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವನು ಎಂದು ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ’” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
And I said, O [ever] living Lord! behold, their prophets prophesy, and say, Ye shall not see a sword, nor shall famine be among you; for I will give truth and peace on the land, and in this place.
14 ೧೪ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ನುಡಿದನು, “ಈ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಳ್ಳಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಏನೂ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಸುಳ್ಳಾದ ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನೂ, ಕಣಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಯಾತಂತ್ರವನ್ನೂ, ಸ್ವಕಲ್ಪಿತ ಮೋಸವನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Then the Lord said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, and I commanded them not, and I spoke not to them: for they prophesy to you false visions, and divinations, and auguries, and devices of their own heart.
15 ೧೫ ಆದಕಾರಣ ನನ್ನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಖಡ್ಗವೂ, ಕ್ಷಾಮವೂ ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರವು ಎಂದು ಬೋಧಿಸುವ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನಾನು, ‘ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ, ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದಲೂ ಈ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲರಾಗುವರು’” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.
Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy lies in my name, and I sent them not, who say, Sword and famine shall not be upon this land; they shall die by a grievous death, and the prophets shall be consumed by famine.
16 ೧೬ ಮತ್ತು ಇವರ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವ ಜನರು ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ಖಡ್ಗಗಳ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವರು; ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಹೂಣಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ಅವರ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನೇ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊಯ್ದುಬಿಡುವೆನು.
And the people to whom they prophesy, they also shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the sword and famine; and there shall be none to bury them: their wives also, and their sons, and their daughters [shall die thus]; and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.
17 ೧೭ ನೀನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ನಿರಂತರ ಸುರಿಯಲಿ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಜನವೆಂಬ ಯುವತಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಾಯವಾಯಿತು, ಹೌದು ಗಡುಸಾದ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಬಿತ್ತು.
And thou shalt speak this word to them; Let your eyes shed tears day and night, and let them not cease: for the daughter of my people has been sorely bruised, and her plague is very grievous.
18 ೧೮ ನಾನು ಊರ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಹತರಾದವರು, ಊರೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದ ಕೊರಗುವವರು! ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳೂ ಯಾಜಕರೂ ತಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಗಡೀಪಾರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳು” ಎಂದನು.
If I go forth into the plain, then behold the slain by the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold the distress of famine! for priest and prophet have gone to a land which they knew not.
19 ೧೯ ನೀನು ಯೆಹೂದವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀಯೋ? ಚೀಯೋನನ್ನು ಮನಃಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಿಯೋ? ನಮಗೆ ಗುಣವಾಗದಂತೆ ಏಕೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಹೊಡೆದಿ? ಸುಖವನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆವು, ಯಾವ ಮೇಲೂ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಕ್ಷೇಮ ಕಾಲವನ್ನೂ ಎದುರುನೋಡಿದೆವು, ಹಾ, ಅಂಜಿಕೆಯೇ!
Hast thou utterly rejected Juda? and has thy soul departed from Sion? wherefore has thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we waited for peace, but there was no prosperity; for a time of healing, and behold trouble!
20 ೨೦ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದುರಾಚಾರವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಾವು ನಿನಗೇ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
We know, O Lord, our sins, [and] the iniquities of our fathers: for we have sinned before thee.
21 ೨೧ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಡು, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆಮಾಡಬೇಡ. ಅವಮಾನಪಡಿಸಬೇಡ; ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದುಕೋ, ಅದನ್ನು ಭಂಗಪಡಿಸದಿರು.
Refrain for thy name's sake, destroy not the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 ೨೨ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವುಗಳುಂಟೇ? ಆಕಾಶವು ತಾನಾಗಿ ಹದಮಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟೀತೇ? ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನೀನೇ ವೃಷ್ಟಿಪ್ರದನು; ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವೆವು. ನೀನು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡೆಸುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದೀಯಷ್ಟೆ.
Is there any one among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? and will the sky yield his fulness [at their bidding]? Art not thou he? we will even wait on thee, O Lord: for thou hast made all these things.
