ಯೆಶಾಯನು 37
1 ೧ ಆಗ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಗೋಣೀತಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು.
And when the king, Hezekiah, heard it, he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.
2 ೨ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಹಿರಿಯರಾದ ಯಾಜಕರು ಇವರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ಗೋಣಿತಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಮೋಚನ ಮಗನೂ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಯೆಶಾಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the palace, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.
3 ೩ ಆಗ ಅವರು ಯೆಶಾಯನಿಗೆ, “ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ‘ಈ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಮಹಾಕಷ್ಟವೂ, ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯೂ, ನಿಂದೆಯೂ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೆರಿಗೆಯ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದದೆ; ಆದರೆ ಹೆರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲ ಸಾಲದು.
And they said to him, Thus saith Hezekiah: This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of contempt; for the children have come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
4 ೪ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯ ನಿಂದಾವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರುವನು, ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸಾನು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಉಳಿದಿರುವ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸು’” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
It may be that Jehovah, thy God, will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, hath sent to reproach the living God, and to revile him with the words which Jehovah, thy God, hath heard. Do thou, therefore, lift up thy prayer for the remnant of the people, that is yet left.
And the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
And Isaiah said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master: Thus saith Jehovah: Be not afraid on account of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 ೭ ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಯದ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಬರ ಮಾಡುವೆನು. ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಸ್ವದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಬೀಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಎಂಬ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯಜಮಾನನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರಿ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
Behold, I will put a spirit within him, so that he shall hear a rumor, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
8 ೮ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಲಾಕೀಷನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಲಿಬ್ನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು.
Then Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.
9 ೯ ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಷಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ತಿರ್ಹಾಕನು ತನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ,
Then he heard concerning Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, that it was said, “He is come forth to war against thee.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah and said,
10 ೧೦ “ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನೇ, ನೀನು ನಂಬುವ ದೇವರು, ‘ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಶವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೋಸಗೊಳಿಸಾನು.’
Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah, the king of Judah: Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 ೧೧ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ? ಹೀಗಿದ್ದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀನು ಉಳಿಯುವಿಯೋ?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands; how they have utterly destroyed them. And shalt thou be delivered?
12 ೧೨ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾತಂದಿರು ಗೋಜಾನ್, ಖಾರಾನ್, ರೆಚೆಫ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ತೆಲಸ್ಸಾರ್ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎದೆನಿನ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ನಾಶಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅವರ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿದವೋ?
Did the gods of the nations which my father destroyed, deliver them? Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden in Telassar?
13 ೧೩ ಹಮಾತ್, ಅರ್ಪಾದ್, ಸೆಫರ್ವಯಿಮ್, ಹೇನ, ಇವ್ವಾ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಅರಸರು ಏನಾದರು ಎಂಬ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರಿ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Henah, and of Ivah?
14 ೧೪ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಆ ದೂತರು ತಂದ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಓದಿದ ನಂತರ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ತೆರೆದಿಟ್ಟನು.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it. Then he went up to the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.
And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, saying,
16 ೧೬ “ಕೆರೂಬಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಸೀನನಾಗಿರುವಾತನೇ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರೇ, ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಭೂರಾಜ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಳುವ ದೇವರು ನೀನೊಬ್ಬನೇ, ಪರಲೋಕ ಭೂಲೋಕಗಳನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿದವನು ನೀನೇ.
O Jehovah of hosts, God of Israel, who sittest between the cherubs, thou alone art the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
17 ೧೭ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟು ಕೇಳು. ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಕಣ್ಣಿಟ್ಟು ನೋಡು. ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಜೀವಸ್ವರೂಪ ದೇವರಾದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತಂದುಕೋ.
Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he hath sent to reproach the living God.
In truth, O Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations, and their lands,
19 ೧೯ ಅವರ ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದರು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವು ದೇವತೆಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಕೆತ್ತಿದ ಕಲ್ಲು ಮರಗಳ ಬೊಂಬೆಗಳಷ್ಟೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಅವು ಅವರಿಂದ ಹಾಳಾದವು.
and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.
20 ೨೦ ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರೇ, ನೀನೇ ಅದ್ವಿತೀಯನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಭೂರಾಜ್ಯಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಇವನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸು ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.”
But do thou, O Jehovah, our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou alone art Jehovah.
21 ೨೧ ಆಗ ಆಮೋಚನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಶಾಯನು ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ‘ನೀನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬಿನ್ನಹಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆನು.’
Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Whereas thou hast prayed to me on account of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria,
22 ೨೨ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಹೇಳುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ‘ಕನ್ನಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಚೀಯೋನ್ ಕುವರಿಯು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮ್ ಕುವರಿಯು ನಿನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ತಲೆಯಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken against him. The virgin, the daughter of Zion, despiseth thee; she laugheth thee to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem shaketh her head after thee.
23 ೨೩ ನೀನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿ ಯಾರನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸಿದ್ಡೀ? ಯಾರ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಬಾಯ್ದೆರೆದು ಧ್ವನಿಯೆತ್ತಿದ್ದೀ? ನೀನು ಸೊಕ್ಕಿನಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದ್ದು ಯಾರನ್ನು? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸದಮಲಸ್ವಾಮಿಯನ್ನಲ್ಲವೇ!’
Whom hast thou reproached, and reviled, And against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, And lifted up thine eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.
24 ೨೪ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿ, ‘ನನ್ನ ರಥಸಮೂಹದೊಡನೆ ಪರ್ವತಶಿಖರಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಲೆಬನೋನಿನ ದುರ್ಗಮಸ್ಥಳಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅದರ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ದೇವದಾರು ವೃಕ್ಷಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ತುರಾಯಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಡಿದು ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಹುದೂರದ ಶಿಖರವನ್ನೂ, ಉದ್ಯಾನವನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and said: “With the multitude of my chariots have I ascended the heights of the mountains, the extremities of Lebanon; I have cut down its tall cedars, and its choice cypress-trees; I have come to its utmost height, to its garden forest.
25 ೨೫ ಪರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗೆದು ನೀರು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಕುಡಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಂದ ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹೊಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬತ್ತಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಕೊಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಿ.
I have digged and drunk water, And with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”
26 ೨೬ ಇದನ್ನು ನೀನು ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಹೀಗಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಹುಕಾಲದ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿದೆನು. ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಈಗ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಳುದಿಬ್ಬಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವುದು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.
Hast thou not heard, that of old I ordained it, And from ancient times purposed it? Now have I brought it to pass, That thou shouldst convert fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
27 ೨೭ ಅವುಗಳ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಬಲವಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿ ಆಶಾಭಂಗಪಟ್ಟು ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡರು. ಅವರು ಹೊಲದ ಗಿಡಕ್ಕೂ, ಹಸಿರು ಹುಲ್ಲಿಗೂ, ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲಣ ಹುಲ್ಲಿಗೂ, ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲೇ ಒಣಗಿ ಹೋದ ಪೈರಿಗೂ ಸಮಾನರಾದರು.
Therefore were their inhabitants of little strength; They were dismayed and confounded; They were as the grass of the field, and the green herb; As grass upon the house-top, and as corn blasted, before it is grown up.
28 ೨೮ ನೀನು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೂ, ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದೂ, ಒಳಗೆ ಬರುವುದೂ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತುಂಟು. ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ರೌದ್ರಾವೇಶನಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ಬಲ್ಲೆನು.
I know thy sitting down, thy going out, and thy coming in, And thy rage against me.
29 ೨೯ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದೂ, ಅಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಿರುವುದೂ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂತು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಮೂಗುದಾರವನ್ನೂ, ಕಡಿವಾಣವನ್ನೂ ಹಾಕಿ ಬಂದ ದಾರಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವೆನು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
Because thy rage against me, and thy insolence, is come up into my ears, I will put my ring into thy nose, And my bridle into thy lips, And turn thee back by the way in which thou camest.
30 ೩೦ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳು ನೆರವೇರುವುದು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ, ನೀವು ಈ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಳೆಬೆಳೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತಾನೇ ಬೆಳೆದದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷ ಹೊಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿತ್ತಿ ಕೊಯ್ದದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯಮಾಡಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಅನುಭವಿಸುವುದೇ ಗುರುತಾಗಿರುವುದು.
And this shall be the sign to thee; Eat this year that which groweth of itself, And in the second year that which groweth of itself, And in the third year ye shall sow and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
And the remnant of the house of Judah, that have escaped, Shall again strike root downward, And bear fruit upward.
32 ೩೨ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದವರು ಹರಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು, ಚೀಯೋನ್ ಪರ್ವತದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಹೊಂದುವರು; ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವು ಇದನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವುದು.
For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, And they that have escaped from mount Zion. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
33 ೩೩ ಆತನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, “ಅವನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸಮೀಪಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾಣವನ್ನೆಸೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಗುರಾಣಿ ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅದನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ ಬಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಅದರ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ದಿಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the king of Assyria; He shall not come into this city, Nor shoot an arrow into it; He shall not present a shield before it, Nor cast up a mound against it.
By the way in which he came, by the same shall he return, And into this city shall he not come, saith Jehovah.
35 ೩೫ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ, ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದೇ.
For I will defend this city, and deliver it, For mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
36 ೩೬ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೂತನು ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದು ಅಶ್ಶೂರ್ಯರ ಪಾಳೆಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಂಭತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ನೋಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಹೆಣಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
Then an angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand men; and when the people arose early in the morning, behold they were all dead corpses.
Then Sennacherib, king of Assyria, decamped, and went away, and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
38 ೩೮ ಅವನು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಗುಡಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ನಿಸ್ರೋಕನನ್ನು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅದ್ರಮ್ಮೆಲೆಕ್, ಸರೆಚೆರ್ ಎಂಬ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಂದು, ಅರರಾಟ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಏಸರ್ ಹದ್ದೋನನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.
And as he was worshipping in the temple of Nisroch, his god, he was slain with the sword by his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer, who escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon, his son, reigned in his stead.
