ಆದಿಕಾಂಡ 23
And the life of Sarah came to be, a hundred and twenty-seven years, —the years of the life of Sarah.
2 ೨ ಸಾರಳು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನೆಂಬ ಕಿರ್ಯತರ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತಳು. ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬಂದು ಆಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡಿ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಸುರಿಸಿದನು.
And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron in the land of Canaan, —and Abraham went in to wail for Sarah and to weep for her.
And Abraham rose up from over the face of his dead, —and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying;
4 ೪ “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪರದೇಶದವನೂ, ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈಗ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.
A sojourner and settler, am I with you, —Give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, That I may bury my dead, from before me.
And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him:
6 ೬ “ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ನೀನು ನಮಗೆ ಮಹಾ ಪ್ರಭುವಾಗಿದ್ದೀಯಷ್ಟೆ. ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ನಮಗಿರುವ ಸಮಾಧಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಶೇಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡಬಹುದು. ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಇಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಸ್ಮಶಾನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲು
Hear us, my lord! A prince of God, art thou in our midst, In the choice of our buryingplaces, bury thy dead, —Not, a man from among us his, burying-place, will withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.
And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself down to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth;
8 ೮ ಅವನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಪುನಃ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡುವುದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನನಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆ ಇದೆ. ನೀವು ಚೋಹರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಸಂಗಡ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ,
and spake with them, saying, —If it is with the consent of your minds that I should bury my dead from before me, hear me, and intercede for me, with Ephron son of Zohar:
9 ೯ ಅವನ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲ ಗವಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಿಸಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳ ನಿಮ್ಮೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದನು.
That he would give me, the cave of Machpelah, which pertaineth unto him, which is within the bounds of his field, —For full silver, let him give it me in your midst, For a possession of a buryingplace.
10 ೧೦ ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ನಡುವೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದನು. ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆ ಊರಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ,
Now, Ephron, was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, —so Ephron the Hittite responded to Abraham, in the ears of the sons of Heth, even all that were entering the gate of his city, saying:
11 ೧೧ “ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು. ಆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ದಾನವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ ನಿನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು”
Nay, my lord, hear me, The field, have I given to thee And, the cave that is therein, to thee, have I given it, —In the eyes of the sons of my people, have I given it thee Bury thy dead.
So Abraham boweth himself down, before the people of the land:
13 ೧೩ ಎಫ್ರೋನನಿಗೆ, “ಕೊಡಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿದ್ದರೆ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಾನು ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳು; ಆ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನ್ನಿಂದ ಕ್ರಯ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
and spake unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land saying, Only if, thou, wouldst, hear me, —I have given the silver of the field Take it of me, That I may bury my dead here.
And Ephron responded to Abraham, saying to him,
15 ೧೫ “ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು; ನಾನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳ ಬೆಲೆಬಾಳುವ ಭೂಮಿಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೂ ನನಗೂ ವಾದವೇತಕ್ಕೆ? ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದನು.
My lord, hear me, —Land worth four hundred shekels of silver—betwixt me and thee, what is that? And thy dead., bury thou.
16 ೧೬ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದನು. ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ನಾನೂರು ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ವರ್ತಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಲ್ಲುವ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ತೂಕ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver of which he had spoken in the ears of the sons of Heth, —four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant,
17 ೧೭ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಭೂಮಿಯು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಗವಿಯು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸುತ್ತಣ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಮರಗಳ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ,
So was confirmed the field of Ephron, which is in Machpelah, which is before Mamre, —the field and the cave which is therein, and all the timber which was in the field, which was in all the boundary thereof round about,
to Abraham as a purchase in the eyes of the sons of Heth, —with all who were entering the gate of his city.
19 ೧೯ ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಸಾರಳ ಶವವನ್ನು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನೆಂಬ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲದ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟನು.
And after this, did Abraham bury Sarah his wife, within the cave of the field of Machpelah, over against Mamre, the same, is Hebron, —in the land of Canaan.
20 ೨೦ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು ಆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಂತವಾದ ಸ್ಮಶಾನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
So was confirmed the field with the cave which was therein to Abraham, for a possession of a buryingplace, —from the sons of Heth.
