ಎಸ್ತೇರಳು 9
1 ೧ ಅರಸನ ಆಜ್ಞಾನಿರ್ಣಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸತಕ್ಕ ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಾದ ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನವು ಬಂದಿತು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದೆಂದು ಅವರ ವೈರಿಗಳು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೇ ತಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
For in the twelfth month, on the thirteenth day of the month which is Adar, the letters written by the king arrived.
2 ೨ ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಷ್ವೇರೋಷನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳ ಆಯಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಮಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಬಯಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಕೈಯೆತ್ತುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಅವರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
In that day the adversaries of the Jews perished: for no one resisted, through fear of them.
3 ೩ ಅವರಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನಾಂಗದವರಿಗೆ ಭಯವುಂಟಾಯಿತು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಯ ಪ್ರಾಬಲ್ಯವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದ ಹಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ, ಅವನ ಸುದ್ದಿಯೂ ಸಕಲ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹಬ್ಬಿತು.
For the chiefs of the satraps, and the princes and the royal scribes, honored the Jews; for the fear of Mardochaeus lay upon them.
4 ೪ ಸರ್ವ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೂ, ಉಪರಾಜರೂ, ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳೂ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ರಾಜೋದ್ಯೋಗಸ್ಥರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಕರಾದರು.
For the order of the king was in force, that he should be celebrated in all the kingdom.
5 ೫ ಹೀಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವೈರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ, ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದು ನಿರ್ನಾಮಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು; ತಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಇಷ್ಟವಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
And in the city Susa the Jews killed five hundred men:
both Pharsannes, and Delphon and Phasga,
and Pharadatha, and Barea, and Sarbaca,
and Marmasima, and Ruphaeus, and Arsaeus, and Zabuthaeus,
10 ೧೦ ಇವರು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಮ್ಮೆದಾತನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹಾಮಾನನ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು. ಇಷ್ಟು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಸುಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
the ten sons of Aman the son of Amadathes the Bugaean, the enemy of the Jews, and they plundered [their property] on the same day:
and the number of them that perished in Susa was rendered to the king.
12 ೧೨ ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಎಸ್ತೇರ್ ರಾಣಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಶೂಷನ್ ಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಐನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನೂ, ಹಾಮಾನನ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಉಳಿದ ರಾಜಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಜನರು ಹತರಾಗಿರಬಹುದು. ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆ ಇನ್ನು ಯಾವುದಿದ್ದರೂ ನೆರವೇರುವುದು, ನೀನು ಏನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಕೊಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And the king said to Esther, The Jews have slain five hundred men in the city Susa; and how, think you, have they used them in the rest of the country? What then do you yet ask, that it may be [done] for you?
13 ೧೩ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಸ್ತೇರಳು, “ಅರಸನ ಇಷ್ಟವಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾಳೆಯೂ ಇಂದಿನ ರಾಜಾಜ್ಞೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಹಾಮಾನನ ಹತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶವಗಳನ್ನು ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಶೂಷನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡಳು.
And Esther said to the king, let it be granted to the Jews so to treat them tomorrow as to hand the ten sons of Aman.
14 ೧೪ ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾದ ರಾಜಾಜ್ಞೆಯು ಶೂಷನ್ ಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಮಾನನ ಹತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಏರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
And he permitted it to be so done; and he gave up to the Jews of the city the bodies of the sons of Aman to hang.
15 ೧೫ ಶೂಷನಿನ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು; ಆದರೆ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಗೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And the Jews assembled in Susa on the fourteenth [day] of Adar, and killed three hundred men, but plundered no property.
16 ೧೬ ಅದೇ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ರಾಜಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳ ಕಾಟವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಪ್ರಾಣ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು; ಆದರೆ ಸುಲಿಗೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈ ಹಾಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And the rest of the Jews who were in the kingdom assembled, and helped one another, and obtained rest from their enemies: for they destroyed fifteen thousand of them on the thirteenth [day] of Adar, but took no spoil.
17 ೧೭ ಇದು ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಅವರು ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸವಭೋಜನ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು. ಹಳ್ಳಿಪಳ್ಳಿಯ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿನವನ್ನು ನಗರಗಳ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನವನ್ನೂ ಶುಭದಿನವೆಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಿ ಉತ್ಸವಭೋಜನಮಾಡಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And they rested on the fourteenth of the same month, and kept it as a day of rest with joy and gladness.
18 ೧೮ ಆದರೆ ಶೂಷನಿನ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಹದಿಮೂರನೆಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ವೈರಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಧಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸವಭೋಜನ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು.
And the Jews in the city Susa assembled also on the fourteenth [day] and rested; and they kept also the fifteenth with joy and gladness.
19 ೧೯ ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಹಳ್ಳಿಪಳ್ಳಿಯ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿನವನ್ನೂ ನಗರಗಳ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನವನ್ನೂ ಶುಭದಿನವೆಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಿ, ಉತ್ಸವಭೋಜನಮಾಡಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
On this account then [it is that] the Jews dispersed in every foreign land keep the fourteenth of Adar [as] a holy day with joy, sending portions each to his neighbor.
20 ೨೦ ಮೊರ್ದಕೈಯು ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದ ಅಹಷ್ವೇರೋಷನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರಗಳ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು:
And Mardochaeus wrote these things in a book, and sent them to the Jews, as many as were in the kingdom of Artaxerxes, both them that were near and them that were afar off,
21 ೨೧ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷವೂ ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣಮಾಸದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸವದಿನಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸುವುದು ಶಾಶ್ವತನಿಯಮ ಎಂದೆಣಿಸಬೇಕು.
to establish these [as] joyful days, and to keep the fourteenth and fifteenth of Adar;
22 ೨೨ ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಶತ್ರುಪೀಡೆ ತಪ್ಪಿ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಆ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತಾಪವು ಪರಿಹಾರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವುಂಟಾಯಿತು; ದುಃಖವು ಹೋಗಿ ಸುಖಕಾಲವು ಬಂದಿತು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ಸವಭೋಜನ ಮಾಡಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ದಾನಧರ್ಮ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
for on these days the Jews obtained rest from their enemies; and [as to] the month, which was Adar, in which a change was made for them, from mourning to joy, and from sorrow to a good day, to spend the whole of it [in] good days of feasting and gladness, sending portions to their friends, and to the poor.
23 ೨೩ ಅದರಂತೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಯ ಪತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೂಪಿತವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿ, ಆ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಉತ್ಸವವು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕೋತ್ಸವವಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And the Jews consented [to this] accordingly as Mardochaeus wrote to them,
24 ೨೪ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಗಾಗನ ವಂಶದವನೂ ಹಮ್ಮೆದಾತನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಹಾಮಾನನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ತಳಮಳಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವುದರ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ ಅಂದರೆ ಚೀಟನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಸಿದನಲ್ಲಾ.
[showing] how Aman the son of Amadathes the Macedonian fought against them, how he made a decree and cast lots to destroy them utterly;
25 ೨೫ ಇದು ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನು, “ಹಾಮಾನನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಕುತಂತ್ರವು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಬರಲಿ; ಅವನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಪತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಮಾಡಿದನಷ್ಟೆ.
also how he went in to the king, telling [him] to hang Mardochaeus: but all the calamities he tried to bring upon the Jews came upon himself, and he was hanged, and his children.
Therefore these days were called Phrurae, because of the lots; (for in their language they are called Phrurae; ) because of the words of this letter, and [because of] all they suffered on this account, and all that happened to them.
27 ೨೭ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಆ ಪತ್ರದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವುಗಳ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾಗಿ ತಾವೇ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ತಮಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು,
And [Mardochaeus] established it, and the Jews took upon themselves, and upon their seed, and upon those that were joined to them [to observe it], neither would they on any account behave differently: but these days [were to be] a memorial kept in every generation, and city, and family, and province.
28 ೨೮ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷವೂ ಆ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಅವುಗಳ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಶಾಸನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೇಮಿತವಾದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸುವುದು ತಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮೀರಬಾರದ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದೂ ಯುಗಯುಗಾಂತರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗೋತ್ರ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ನಗರಗಳವರು ಈ ಪೂರೀಮ್ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಆಚರಣೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದೂ ನಿಂತುಹೋಗಬಾರದು. ಅದರ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕವು ಅವರ ಸಂತಾನದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳಿದುಹೋಗಲೇಬಾರದು ಎಂದೂ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And these days of the Phrurae, [said they, ]shall be kept for ever, and their memorial shall not fail in any generation.
29 ೨೯ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಬೀಹೈಲನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಎಸ್ತೇರ್ ರಾಣಿಯು ಅಧಿಕಾರಯುಕ್ತಳಾಗಿ ಪೂರೀಮ್ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾದ ಆ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಶಾಸನವನ್ನು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯನಾದ ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಯ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದಳು.
And queen Esther, the daughter of Aminadab, and Mardochaeus the Jew, wrote all that they had done, and the confirmation of the letter of Phrurae.
31 ೩೧ ಆಕೆಯು ದಯಾಸತ್ಯತೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಆ ಪತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, “ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂತಾನದವರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಲಾಪ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಾವೇ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಈ ಪೂರೀಮ್ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನೂ ನನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯನಾದ ಮೊರ್ದೆಕೈಯ ನಿರೂಪದಂತೆ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷ ತಪ್ಪದೆ ನೇಮಿತವಾದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಳು.
And Mardochaeus and Esther the queen appointed [a fast] for themselves privately, even at that time also having formed their plan against their own health.
And Esther established it by a command for ever, and it was written for a memorial.
