ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕಾಂಡ 25
1 ೧ ಇಬ್ಬರು ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡುತ್ತಾ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲದವನನ್ನು ನಿರಪರಾಧಿ ಎಂದೂ ತಪ್ಪುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು ಅಪರಾಧಿ ಎಂದೂ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಬೇಕು.
If there shall be a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.
2 ೨ ಅಪರಾಧಿಗೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ತೀರ್ಮಾನವಾದರೆ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮಲಗಿಸಿ, ಅವನ ಅಪರಾಧಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಹೊಡಿಸಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಬೇಕು.
And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.
3 ೩ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯು ನಲ್ವತ್ತಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿರಬಾರದು. ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಹೊಡಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವದೇಶದವನನ್ನು ನೀವು ಕೇವಲ ನೀಚನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಂಡಂತೆ ಆಗುವುದು.
Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile to thee.
Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the grain.
5 ೫ ಅಣ್ಣತಮ್ಮಂದಿರು ಒಂದೇ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ಅಣ್ಣನು ಮಗನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸತ್ತರೆ, ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಬೇರೆ ಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು. ಅವಳ ಮೈದುನನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಮೈದುನಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಬೇಕು.
If brethren shall dwell together, and one of them shall die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside the family to a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her to him for a wife, and perform the duty of an husband’s brother to her.
6 ೬ ಅವಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಮಗನು ಸತ್ತವನ ಮಗನೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡಬೇಕು. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಸತ್ತವನ ಹೆಸರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಅಳಿಸಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name may not be blotted out from Israel.
7 ೭ ತಮ್ಮನು ಅಣ್ಣನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗ್ರಹಿಸದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವಳು ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನ ತಮ್ಮನು ತನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧನಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಮೈದುನಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕು.
And if the man shall not desire to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuseth to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.
8 ೮ ಆಗ ಆ ಊರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು, “ಈಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಪಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ,
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he shall stand to it, and say, I desire not to take her;
9 ೯ ಅವನ ಅತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಕೆರವನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕಾಲಿನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಅವನ ಮುಖದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ, “ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಂತಾನವನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೊಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಇಂಥ ಅವಮಾನವಾಗಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು.
Then shall his brother’s wife come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done to that man that will not build up his brother’s house.
And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.
11 ೧೧ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಜಗಳವಾಡುತ್ತಿರಲಾಗಿ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆ ಪರಪುರುಷನ ಜನನೇಂದ್ರಿಯವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡರೆ,
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband from the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thy eye shall not pity her.
Thou shalt not have in thy bag differing weights, a great and a small.
Thou shalt not have in thy house differing measures, a great and a small.
15 ೧೫ ನಿಮ್ಮ ತೂಕದ ಕಲ್ಲೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಳತೆಯ ಸೇರೂ ನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇರಬೇಕು. ನೀವು ಹೀಗೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಕಾಲ ಬಾಳುವಿರಿ.
But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD thy God.
Remember what Amalek did to thee by the way, when ye had come forth from Egypt;
18 ೧೮ ಅವರು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೂ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿ, ನೀವು ದಣಿದು ಮತ್ತು ಬಳಲಿದಾಗ ನಿಮ್ಮವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದೆಬಿದ್ದ ಬಲಹೀನರನ್ನು ಸಂಹಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
How he met thee by the way, and smote those behind thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.
19 ೧೯ ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಸುತ್ತಲು ಯಾವ ಶತ್ರುಗಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರ ಹೆಸರೇ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು; ಇದನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಬಾರದು.
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thy enemies on all sides, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
