ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕಾಂಡ 2
1 ೧ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಕೆಂಪು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು ಅನೇಕ ದಿನಗಳು ಸೇಯೀರ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು.
And we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as Jehovah had said unto me; and we went round mount Seir many days.
And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
Ye have gone round this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 ೪ ಮತ್ತು ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸು, ‘ಸೇಯೀರ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳಾದ ಏಸಾವನ ವಂಶದವರ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟುವುದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದೀರಷ್ಟೆ. ಅವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವರು; ನೀವು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗದೆ ಬಹಳ ಜಾಗರೂಕತೆಯಿಂದಿರಬೇಕು.
And command the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; and ye shall be very guarded:
5 ೫ ನಾನು ಸೇಯೀರ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನು ಏಸಾವ್ಯರಿಗೇ ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡುವಷ್ಟು ನೆಲವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
attack them not; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have given mount Seir as a possession unto Esau.
Ye shall buy of them food for money, that ye may eat; and water shall ye also buy of them for money, that ye may drink;
7 ೭ ನೀವು ಕೈಹಾಕಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಫಲಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ. ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆತನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪರಾಂಬರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದನು. ಈ ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಏನೂ ಕೊರತೆಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ’” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years hath Jehovah thy God been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 ೮ ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾವು ಸೇಯೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳಾದ ಏಸಾವ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗದಂತೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಅರಾಬದ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಏಲತ್ ಮತ್ತು ಎಚ್ಯೋನ್ ಗೆಬೆರ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅಡವಿಯ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದೆವು.
And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 ೯ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವೈರಿಗಳಾಗಿ ನಡೆದು ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ಲೋಟನ ವಂಶದವರಾದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಆರ್ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವದೇಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವತ್ತನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And Jehovah said to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given Ar as a possession.
10 ೧೦ ಏಮಿಯರು ಮೊದಲು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರೂ, ಬಹುಜನರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅನಾಕೀಮ್ಯರಂತೆ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಪುರುಷರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
(The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim.
11 ೧೧ ಅವರು ಅನಾಕ್ಯರಂತೆ ರೆಫಾಯರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದವರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದುಂಟು; ಆದರೆ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಏಮಿಯರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
They also are reckoned as giants like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.
12 ೧೨ ಹೋರಿಯರು ಸಹ ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇಯೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ತರುವಾಯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಏಸಾವ್ಯರು ಬಂದು ಹೋರಿಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಅವರ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದರು.
And in Seir dwelt the Horites in times past; and the children of Esau dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did to the land of their possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)
Now rise up, and pass over the torrent Zered. And we passed over the torrent Zered.
14 ೧೪ ನಾವು ಕಾದೇಶ್‌ಬರ್ನೇಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಜೆರೆದ್ ಹಳ್ಳವನ್ನು ದಾಟಲು ಮೂವತ್ತೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷವಾಯಿತು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಸೈನಿಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗಿದ್ದರು.
Now the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we had come over the torrent Zered, were thirty-eight years; until the whole generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah had sworn unto them.
Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
And it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed, having died off from among the people,
that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
Thou art to pass this day over the border of Moab, [which is] Ar,
19 ೧೯ ಮುಂದೆ ನೀವು ಅಮೋನಿಯರ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಪಡಿಸಲೂ ಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ವೈರಿಗಳಾಗಿ ನಡೆದು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲೂಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನಾನು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಲೋಟನ ವಂಶದವರಾದ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಭಾಗವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.”
and come near over against the children of Ammon; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given it as a possession.
20 ೨೦ ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ರೆಫಾಯರು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅದು ರೆಫಾಯರ ದೇಶವೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಜಂಜುಮ್ಯರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
(That also is reckoned a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in time past, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;
a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead;
22 ೨೨ ಆದರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸೇಯೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಏಸಾವ್ಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೋರಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಏಸಾವ್ಯರು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೋ,
as he did to the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Horites; and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead, even to this day.
23 ೨೩ ಮತ್ತು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಫ್ತೋರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಕಫ್ತೋರ್ಯರು ಗಾಜಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರೆಗೂ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವ್ವಿಯರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದರೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯೆಹೋವನು ರೆಫಾಯರನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ನಾಡಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡ ತೊಡಗಿದರು.
And the Avvites who dwelt in the hamlets as far as Gazah — the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 ೨೪ “ಈಗ ನೀವು ಹೊರಟು ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ಹಳ್ಳವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿರಿ. ಅಮೋರಿಯನಾಗಿರುವ ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೀಹೋನನು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಸೋತುಹೋಗುವನು, ಅವನ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ನಿಮಗೇ ವಶವಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ, ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿರಿ.
Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land: begin, take possession, and engage with him in battle.
25 ೨೫ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನಗಳಿಗೂ ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ದಿಗಿಲೂ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆದರಿಕೆಯೂ ಉಂಟಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗಡಗಡನೆ ನಡುಗಿ ಸಂಕಟಪಡುವರು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples under the whole heaven; who will hear report of thee, and will tremble, and quake because of thee.
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon the king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 ೨೭ “ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು. ನಾವು ಎಡಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗದೆ ದಾರಿಹಿಡಿದು ನಡೆದುಹೋಗುವೆವು.
Let me pass through thy land: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.
Thou shalt sell me food for money that I may eat; and thou shalt give me water for money that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet,
29 ೨೯ ನಾವು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸೇರಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಸೇಯೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಏಸಾವ್ಯರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಆರ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೂ ನಮಗೆ ದಾರಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತೆ ನೀನೂ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು. ಕಾಲ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಏನೂ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಸಮಾಧಾನಕರವಾದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದೆನು.
— as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, — until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.
30 ೩೦ ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೂರ್ಖಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಹಟವನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಸೋತುಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂಬುದೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವಾಗಿತ್ತು; ಅದು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ನೆರವೇರಿತಲ್ಲಾ.
But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obdurate, that he might give him into thy hand, as it is this day.
31 ೩೧ ತರುವಾಯ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ, “ಈಗ ನಾನು ಸೀಹೋನನನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ವಶಪಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಮಾಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I begin to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin, take possession, that thou mayest possess his land.
And Sihon came out against us for battle, he and all his people, to Jahaz.
33 ೩೩ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಪರಾಜಯಪಡಿಸಿದನು. ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದೆವು.
But Jehovah our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and his whole people.
34 ೩೪ ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಅವನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಗಂಡಸರನ್ನೂ, ಹೆಂಗಸರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ನಿಶ್ಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಹತಮಾಡಿದೆವು; ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, men, and women, and little ones: we let none escape.
Only the cattle we took as booty for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 ೩೬ ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅರೋಯೇರ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಮತ್ತು ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಇವುಗಳು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ ಸೀಮೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಯಾವ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸಲು ನಮಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the ravine even to Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: Jehovah our God delivered all before us.
37 ೩೭ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಂದರೆ ಯಬ್ಬೋಕ್ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯ ಊರುಗಳು ಇವೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲೇ ಬಾರದೆಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದನು.
Only thou didst not approach the land of the children of Ammon, the whole border of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountain, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our God had forbidden us.
