ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು 1
1 ೧ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ರಾಜನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದನು.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoyakim the king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 ೨ ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀಮನನ್ನೂ, ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಅನೇಕ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಲು ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಶಿನಾರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ದೇವರ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು ಆ ದೇವರ ಭಂಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
And the Lord gave up into his hand Yehoyakim the king of Judah, with part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shin'ar into the house of his god, namely, he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 ೩ ಅನಂತರ ಆ ರಾಜನು ತನ್ನ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಶ್ಪೆನಜನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ರಾಜವಂಶೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ
And the king said unto Ashpenas, the chief of his eunuchs, that he should bring out of the children of Israel, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles,
4 ೪ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಧಾನರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಗದೋಷವಿಲ್ಲದವರೂ, ಸುಂದರರೂ, ಸಮಸ್ತ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರೂ, ಪಂಡಿತರೂ, ವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಪುಣರೂ, ರಾಜಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಲು ಸಮರ್ಥರೂ ಆದ ಕೆಲವು ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುತಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಸ್ದೀಯ ಪಂಡಿತರ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಲಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
[Certain] lads in whom there should be no kind of blemish, but who should be handsome in appearance, and intelligent in all wisdom, and acquainted with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as should have the ability to serve in the king's palace, and that these should be taught the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
5 ೫ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, “ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಅವರು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಸೇವಕರಾಗಲೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ರಾಜನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬಡಿಸುವ ಏರ್ಪಾಡುಮಾಡಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷ ಪೋಷಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And the king ordered for them a daily provision for its day of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and to educate them three years, so that at the end thereof they should serve before the king.
Now there were among these of the children of Judah, Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah.
7 ೭ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ನಾಮಕರಣಮಾಡಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರ್, ಹನನ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಶದ್ರಕ್, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ಮೇಶಕ್, ಅಜರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಅಬೇದ್ನೆಗೋ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
And the chief of the eunuchs assigned them names; and he assigned to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Chananyah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to 'Azaryah, of 'Abed-nego.
8 ೮ ಆದರೆ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ರಾಜನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ರಾಜನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಅಶುದ್ಧನಾಗಲಾರೆ, ಕ್ಷಮಿಸು” ಎಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
But Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself with the food of the king, nor with the wine which he drank: and therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not need to defile himself.
And God gave Daniel kindness and mercy before the chief of the eunuchs.
10 ೧೦ ಆ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ದಾನಿಯೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ರಾಜನು ನಿಮ್ಮಂತೆ ಆರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಯುವಕರ ಮುಖಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಖವು ಬಾಡಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ರಾಜನು ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಿಸಲು ನೀವು ಕಾರಣರಾಗುವಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಭಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದನು.
And the chief of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath ordered your food and your drink; for why should he see your face sadder looking than that of the lads who are of your age? and ye would thus endanger my head with the king.
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had given charge over Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah,
12 ೧೨ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿಚಾರಕನಿಗೆ, “ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸು; ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ನಮಗೆ ಒದಗಲಿ.
Prove, I beseech thee, thy servants, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink;
13 ೧೩ ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಾಜನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಯುವಕರ ಮುಖಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಹೋಲಿಸಿನೋಡು; ನೋಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ನಡೆಸು” ಎಂದು ಬಿನ್ನವಿಸಿದನು.
And then let our countenances be looked at before thee, and the countenance of the lads that eat the food of the king: and as thou mayest see [fitting], so deal with thy servants.
And he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 ೧೫ ಅವರು ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ರಾಜನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಕಲ ಯುವಕರಿಗಿಂತ ಸುಂದರರಾಗಿಯೂ, ಪುಷ್ಟರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದರು.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared better and fuller in flesh than [that of] all the lads who ate the food of the king.
16 ೧೬ ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ವಿಚಾರಕನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೇಮಕವಾದ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವರು ಕುಡಿಯಬೇಕಾದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾಯಿಪಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದನು.
And the steward took away their [apportioned] food, and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 ೧೭ ಹೀಗಿರಲು ದೇವರು ಆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಸಕಲ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ವಿದ್ಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಜ್ಞಾನವಿವೇಕಗಳನ್ನು ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿದನು. ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದಿವ್ಯದರ್ಶನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣನಾದನು.
But as regardeth all these four lads, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 ೧೮ ರಾಜನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲವು ಕಳೆದು ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ತರತಕ್ಕ ಸಮಯವು ಬಂದಾಗ, ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ತಂದನು.
And at the end of the days [after] which the king had said that they should be presented, the chief of the eunuchs presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 ೧೯ ರಾಜನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಆ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲ, ಹನನ್ಯ, ಮೀಶಾಯೇಲ, ಅಜರ್ಯ ಇವರ ಹಾಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕಂಡುಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅವರು ರಾಜನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಸೇವಕರಾದರು.
And the king spoke with them; and there was not found among them all any one like Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah: and so they served before the king.
20 ೨೦ ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಜನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಸರ್ವವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಮಾಡಲು ಅವನ ಪೂರ್ಣ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜೋಯಿಸರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ಮಂತ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹತ್ತರಷ್ಟು ನಿಪುಣರಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು.
And in every matter of wise understanding, which the king required of them, he found them ten times superior above all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his kingdom.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
