ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 23
1 ೧ ದಾವೀದನ ಕೊನೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳು - ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು, ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನು, ಯಾಕೋಬನ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ವರಕವಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವವನ ನುಡಿಗಳು:
And these are the last words of David. Thus saith David the son of Jesse, and thus saith the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel:
The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me, and his word was upon my tongue.
3 ೩ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಶರಣನೂ, ದೇವರೂ ಆಗಿರುವಾತನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ನೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಳುವವನು,
[Thus] said the God of Israel, concerning me spoke the Rock of Israel, That [I should be] ruler over men, be righteous, ruling in the fear of God;
4 ೪ ಮೋಡಗಳಿಲ್ಲದ ಪ್ರಾತಃಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತೇಜೋಮಯನಾಗಿ ಉದಯಿಸಿ, ಮೋಡಗಳನ್ನು ಚದುರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಮಳೆಬಿದ್ದ ಭೂಮಿಯಿಂದ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮೊಳೆಯಿಸುವ ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And as in the light of morning the sun riseth, in a morning without clouds, with more than the brightness [reflected] by rain on the herbs that spring from the earth.
5 ೫ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಯು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದಲ್ಲವೇ? ಆತನು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲವೋ? ಅದು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗದೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಮೂಲವೂ, ನನ್ನ ಅಭಿಲಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ತಿಗೊಳಿಸುವವನೂ ಆತನೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ?
Truly is not so my house with God? since he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, firm in all, and sure? yea, will he not cause to grow all my salvation, and all my desire?
6 ೬ ದುಷ್ಟರು ದೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿಸಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳಂತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿಯಲಾರದೆ,
But the godless are all of them as waving thorns, which cannot be taken in the hand;
But the man that will touch them must protect his hand with iron and the staff of a spear: and they will be utterly burnt with fire in the dwelling.
8 ೮ ದಾವೀದನೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದ ರಣವೀರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ: ತಹ್ಕೆಮೋನ್ಯನಾದ ಯೋಷಬ್ ಬಷ್ಬೆಬೆತನು ಸರದಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನು. ಎಚ್ನೀಯನಾದ ಅದೀನೋ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಇವನು ಒಂದೇ ಸಾರಿ ಎಂಟುನೂರು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು.
These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Yosheb-bashebeth, the Thachkemonite, the chief among the captains, —the same as 'Adino the 'Eznite, —because of eight hundred slain at one time.
9 ೯ ಎರಡನೆಯವನು ಅಹೋಹ್ಯನಾದ ದೋದೋ ಎಂಬುವವನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಶೂರರಲ್ಲಿ ಇವನೂ ಒಬ್ಬನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
And after him was El'azar the son of Dodo, the son of Achochi, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel had withdrawn themselves;
10 ೧೦ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಹೋದ ನಂತರ ಇವನು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು, ಕತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಕೈ ಸೋತು ಹೋಗುವ ತನಕ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮಹಾಜಯವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಸುಲಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದರು.
He then arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand did cleave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory on that day; and the people returned after him only to strip [the slain].
11 ೧೧ ಮೂರನೆಯವನು ಹರಾರ್ಯನಾದ ಆಗೇಯನ ಮಗ ಶಮ್ಮ ಎಂಬುವವನು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಅಲಸಂದಿಯ ಹೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
And after him was Shammah the son of Age the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together into a troop, and there was a piece of ground full of lentiles; and the people had fled from the Philistines;
12 ೧೨ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಅವರ ಎದುರಿನಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದಾಗ, ಇವನು ಆ ಹೊಲದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು, ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮಹಾಜಯವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಿದನು.
But he placed himself in the midst of the ground, and delivered it, and smote the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.
13 ೧೩ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಶೂರರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನು ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್ ಗವಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸುಗ್ಗಿಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮೂವರು ಬಂದರು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದಂಡೆತ್ತಿ ಬಂದು ರೆಫಾಯೀಮ್ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ,
And these three, the chiefs of the thirty, went down, and came to David at harvest-time unto the cave of 'Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
And David was then in the strong-hold, and an outpost of the Philistines was then in Beth-lechem.
15 ೧೫ ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನು ಲವಲವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ “ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಊರಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಯಾರಾದರೂ ನನಗೆ ತಂದುಕೊಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು” ಎಂದೂ ಕೇಳಿದನು.
And David longed, and said, Oh that one would bring me water to drink out of the well at Beth-lechem, which is by the gate!
16 ೧೬ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ, ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸೇದಿ, ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಂದು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines; and drew water out of the well of Beth-lechem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; but he would not drink thereof, and poured it out unto the Lord.
17 ೧೭ ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಈ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದು ನನಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಜೀವದಾಶೆ ತೊರೆದವರ ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕುಡಿಯಬೇಕೆ? ಇದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊಯ್ದನು. ಆ ಮೂರು ಜನರು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
And he said, Far be it from me, O Lord, that I should do this: [is not this] the blood of the men that went at the risk of their life? and thus he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
18 ೧೮ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನೂ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಮ್ಮನೂ ಆದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು ಈ ಮೂರು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಬರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನು ಬೀಸುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಿ, ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಈ ಮೂವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೀರ್ತಿಹೊಂದಿದನು.
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruyah, was the chief of these three; and he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain, and had a name among the three.
Although he was the most honored of the three, wherefore he became their captain: he nevertheless attained not unto the three [in prowess].
20 ೨೦ ಯೆಹೋಯಾದಾವನ ಮಗನೂ ಕಬ್ಜಯೇಲಿನ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯೂ ಆದ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನು. ಇವನು ಅನೇಕ ಶೂರಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಾಂತವೆಂದರೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯನಾದ ಅರೀಯೇಲನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು. ಇನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಹಿಮಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸಿಂಹವು ಗುಂಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರಲು ಇವನು ಆ ಗುಂಡಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು.
And Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', the son of a valiant man, great in many acts of Kabzeel; he it was that smote the two lion-like heroes of Moab; he also went down and slew a lion in the midst of a pit on a day when it snowed;
21 ೨೧ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಉನ್ನತನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು. ಆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬರ್ಜಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಇವನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಬರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಅದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು.
And he slew an Egyptian, a man of good appearance; and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and he snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
These things did Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', and he had a name among the three mighty men.
23 ೨೩ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇವನು ವಿಶೇಷ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಮೊದಲಿನ ಮೂವರು ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಾವೀದನು ಇವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾವಲುದಂಡಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
He was more honored than the thirty; but he attained not to these three. And David appointed him in his private council.
'Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lechem,
Shammah the Charodite, Elika the Charodite,
Chelez the Paltite, 'Ira the son of 'Ikkesh the Teko'ite,
Abi'ezer the 'Anethothite, Mebunnai the Chushathite,
Zalmon the Achochite, Maharai the Netophathite,
Cheleb the son of Ba'anah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gib'ah of the children of Benjamin,
Benayahu the Pir'athonite, Hiddai of Nachale-Ga'ash,
Abi-'albon the 'Arbathite, 'Azmaveth the Barchumite,
Elyachba the Sha'albonite, Bne-yashen, Jonathan,
Shammah the Hararite, Achiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,
Eliphelet the son of Achasbai, the son of the Ma'achathite, Eli'am the son of Achithophel the Gilonite,
Chezrai, the Carmelite, Pa'arai the Arbite,
Yigal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
Zelek the 'Ammonite, Nacharai the Beerothite, the armor-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruyah,
'Ira the Yithrite, Gareb the Yithrite,
Uriyah the Hittite: in all thirty and seven.
