ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 17
1 ೧ ತರುವಾಯ ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ, “ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ನಾನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೇ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವೆನು.
Moreover Achithophel said unto Abshalom, Do let me now select twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night;
2 ೨ ಅವನು ದಣಿದವನೂ, ಧೈರ್ಯಗುಂದಿದವನೂ ಆಗಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ಪಕ್ಕನೇ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬೆದರಿಸುವೆನು. ಅವನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವರು.
And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will terrify him; so that all the people that are with him will flee; and I will smite the king alone;
3 ೩ ನಾನು ಅರಸನೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನೇ ಕೊಂದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬರಮಾಡುವೆನು. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಮಾಧಾನವುಂಟಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And I will bring back all the people unto thee: when all return [except] the man whom thou seekest, all the people will be in peace.
And the thing was pleasing in the eyes of Abshalom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel.
Then said Abshalom, Do call now also Chushai the Arkite, and let us hear what he likewise beareth in his mouth.
6 ೬ ಹೂಷೈಯನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನನ್ನು, “ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಇದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವುದೋ, ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
And when Chushai was come to Abshalom, Abshalom said unto him, as followeth, Such words as these hath Achithophel spoken: shall we do after his words? if not, do thou speak.
And Chushai said unto Abshalom, The counsel that Achithophel hath given at this time is not good.
8 ೮ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಶೂರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಈಗ ಅವರು ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಕರಡಿಯಂತೆ ರೋಷವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣನು, ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯುವವನಲ್ಲ.
And Chushai said, Thou well knowest thy father and his men, that they are mighty men, and are of an embittered spirit, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is also a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 ೯ ಅವನು ಈಗ ಒಂದು ಗುಹೆಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವುದಾದರೊಂದು ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವನು. ಮೊದಲು ನಮ್ಮವರಲ್ಲೇ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರೆ, ಜನರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಪಕ್ಷದವರಿಗೆ ಅಪಜಯವುಂಟಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಸುದ್ದಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿಸುವರು.
Behold, he is now hidden in some one of the pits, or in some one of the [other] places: and it will come to pass, when some of them should fall at the first onset, that whosoever heareth it would say, There hath been slaughter among the people that follow Abshalom.
10 ೧೦ ಆಗ ಸಿಂಹಹೃದಯಿಗಳಾದ ಶೂರರ ಎದೆಯು ಕರಗಿ ನೀರಾಗುವುದು. ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ರಣವೀರನೆಂದೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದವರು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳೆಂದೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಬಲ್ಲರಷ್ಟೆ.
And he also that is most valiant, whose heart is as the heart of the lion, would become quite discouraged; for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they who are with him are valiant persons.
11 ೧೧ ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ದಾನಿನಿಂದ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದ ವರೆಗೆ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮರಳಿನಷ್ಟು ಅಸಂಖ್ಯವಾದ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ, ನೀನೂ ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು.
But I counsel that all Israel be gathered together unto thee, from Dan even to Beer-sheba', like the sand that is by the sea in multitude: while thou in thy own person goest into the fight.
12 ೧೨ ನಾವು ಅವನಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ಇಬ್ಬನಿಯು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಗೊ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಾವು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳೋಣ. ಆಗ ಅವನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವರು. ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರನು.
And when we come upon him in some one of the places where he may be found, we will encamp around him as the dew falleth on the earth: and there shall not be left of him and of all the men that are with him so much as one.
13 ೧೩ ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕಿರುವುದಾದರೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹಗ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಲಿ. ಆಗ ಆ ಊರನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಹರಳಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ಹಗ್ಗಗಳಿಂದ ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಹೊಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಬಿಡೋಣ” ಎಂದನು.
And if he should withdraw into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will drag it into the stream, until there be not found there even one small stone.
14 ೧೪ ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ, “ಅರ್ಕೀಯನಾದ ಹೂಷೈಯ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯು ಅಹೀತೋಫೇಲನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಿಂತ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದರು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ ಕೇಡನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಹೀತೋಫೇಲನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರರ್ಥಕಮಾಡಿದನು.
And Abshalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Chushai the Arkite is better than the counsel of Achithophel. But the Lord had ordained to frustrate the good counsel of Achithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring the evil upon Abshalom.
15 ೧೫ ತರುವಾಯ ಹೂಷೈಯು ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಚಾದೋಕ್ ಎಬ್ಯಾತಾರರಿಗೆ, “ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೂ ಇಂಥಿಂಥ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು, ನಾನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
Then said Chushai unto Zadok and to Ebyathar the priests, Thus and thus did Achithophel counsel Abshalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counseled.
16 ೧೬ ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಬೇಗನೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನದಿ ದಾಟುವ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ. ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ನದಿದಾಟಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಡಬೇಕು. ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ನೀನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರೂ ನಾಶವಾಗುವಿರಿ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದನು
Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but rather pass over at once; lest the king be entirely ruined, and all the people that are with him.
17 ೧೭ ಯೋನಾತಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಅಹೀಮಾಚರು ರೋಗೆಲಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರ ಮನೆಯ ದಾಸಿಯು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವರ್ತಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಇವರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಇವರ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೂ ಮುಟ್ಟಿಸುವಂತೆ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ನೋಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಇವರು ತಾವಾಗಿ ಊರೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Now Jonathan and Achima'az were staying by 'En-rogel; and a maid-servant had to go and tell them, that they should go and tell king David; for they dared not be seen to come into the city.
18 ೧೮ ಆದರೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಬಹುರೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕರು. ಆ ಮನೆಯ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told it to Abshalom; but they went, both of them, quickly away, and came to the house of a man in Bachurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down thither.
19 ೧೯ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಆ ಮನೆಯ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಸಿ, ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಗೋದಿಯ ನುಚ್ಚನ್ನು ಹರಡಿದಳು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿರುವ ವಿಷಯ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And the wife took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and scattered ground corn thereupon; so that nothing was perceived.
20 ೨೦ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಸೇವಕರು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಅಹೀಮಾಚ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋನಾತಾನರು ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ?” ಎಂದು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಕೆಯು, “ಅವರು ಹಳ್ಳ ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು. ಅವರು ಅಹೀಮಾಚ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋನಾತಾನರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಕಾಣದೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.
And Abshalom's servants came to the woman into the house, and they said, Where are Achima'az and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They are passed over the brook of water. And they sought, but could not find them; and they returned to Jerusalem.
21 ೨೧ ಅವರು ಹೋದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಬಾವಿಯಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಅವರು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಇಂಥಿಂಥ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಬೇಗನೆ ಎದ್ದು ನದಿದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And it came to pass, after they were gone, that they came up out of the well, and went and told it to king David, and they said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water; for thus hath Achithophel counseled against you.
22 ೨೨ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು. ಬೆಳಗಾದಾಗ ದಾಟಬೇಕಾದವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Then did David arise, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over the Jordan: by the time the morning was light, not even one was lacking who had not passed over the Jordan.
23 ೨೩ ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ತನ್ನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯು ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಕತ್ತೆಗೆ ತಡಿಹಾಕಿಸಿ, ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಮಾಡಿದ ನಂತರ, ಉರ್ಲು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತನು. ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸ್ಮಶಾನಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
And when Achithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled the ass, and arose, and went home to his house, to his city, and gave his charge to his household, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
Then came David to Machanayim: and Abshalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 ೨೫ ಅವನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅಮಾಸನನ್ನು ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನಾದ ಇತ್ರನು, ನಾಹಾಷನ ಮಗಳೂ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಾಯಿಯಾದ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ತಂಗಿಯೂ ಆದ ಅಬೀಗೈಲ್ ಎಂಬುವಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಅಮಾಸನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು.
And Abshalom placed 'Amassa instead of Joab as captain over the army: and 'Amassa was the son of a man, whose name was Yithra the Israelite, who had gone in to Abigal the daughter of Nachash, the sister of Zeruyah Joab's mother.
And Israel and Abshalom encamped in the land of Gil'ad.
27 ೨೭ ದಾವೀದನು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ರಬ್ಬಾ ಊರಿನವನಾದ ನಾಹಾಷನ ಮಗ ಶೋಬಿ, ಲೋದೆಬಾರಿನ ಅಮ್ಮೀಯೇಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಮಾಕೀರ್, ರೋಗೆಲೀಮ್ ಊರಿನ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಬರ್ಜಿಲ್ಲೈ ಎಂಬುವರು
And it came to pass, when David was come to Machanayim, that Shobi the son of Nachash of Rabbah of the children of 'Ammon, and Machir the son of 'Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gil'adite of Rogelim,
28 ೨೮ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಹಾಸಿಗೆ, ಬಟ್ಟಲು, ಮಡಕೆ ಇವುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಊಟಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಗೋದಿ, ಜವೆಗೋದಿ, ಹಿಟ್ಟು, ಹುರಿಗಾಳು, ಅವರೆಕಾಳು, ಅಲಸಂದಿ, ಬೇಳೆ ಜೇನುತುಪ್ಪ,
Brought beds, and bowls, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentils, and parched pulse,
29 ೨೯ ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ, ಕುರಿ ಹಸುವಿನ ಗಿಣ್ಣು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಜನರು ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಿಂದ ಹಸಿದವರೂ, ದಣಿದವರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಯಾರಿದವರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದರು.
And honey, and cream, and sheep, and cow's cheese, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat; for they said, The people are hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
