ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 11
1 ೧ ರಾಜರೆಲ್ಲರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವಸಂತಕಾಲದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಡುವ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನನ್ನೂ, ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಇವರು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿ ರಬ್ಬಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
It happened, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.
2 ೨ ಅವನು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಸಂಜೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಹು ಸುಂದರಿಯಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು.
Now it happened one evening that David got up from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's palace; and he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful.
3 ೩ ಕೂಡಲೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಯಾರು?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲು ಅವನು, “ಆಕೆಯು ಎಲೀಯಾಮನ ಮಗಳೂ, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಬತ್ಷೆಬೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, "Isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hethite?"
4 ೪ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಆಗ ತಾನೇ ಋತುಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ತರುವಂತೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಬರಲು ಅವನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಗಮಿಸಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದಳು.
So David sent messengers to get her, and she came in to him, and he lay with her. (For she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) And she returned to her house.
The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, "I'm pregnant."
6 ೬ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ, “ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
Then David sent to Joab and said, "Send me Uriah the Hethite." So Joab sent Uriah to him.
7 ೭ ಊರೀಯನು ಬಂದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸೈನ್ಯದವರೂ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಯುದ್ಧವು ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದ, ನಂತರ
And Uriah came to him, and David asked about the prosperity of Joab, and of the prosperity of the people, and of the prosperity of the war. And he said, "Its well."
8 ೮ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಕೈಕಾಲು ತೊಳೆದುಕೋ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಊರೀಯನು ಅರಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆಯೆ ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳು ಹೋದವು.
And David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet." So Uriah went out from the presence of the king, and a gift from the king was sent after him.
But Uriah slept at the king's door with his master's servants, and did not go down to his house.
10 ೧೦ ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಊರೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ, ಯಾಕೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ?” ಅಂದನು.
And it was reported to David, saying, "Uriah did not go down to his house." So David said to Uriah, "Haven't you come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?"
11 ೧೧ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಊರೀಯನು, “ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೂ ಗುಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ, ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಊಟಮಾಡಿ, ಕುಡಿದು, ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೊಡನೆ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ನಿನ್ನಾಣೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವದ ಆಣೆ, ನಾನು ಇಂಥದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents; and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camped in the open field. Then how can I go to my house to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As YHWH lives, and as you live, I will not do this thing."
12 ೧೨ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಇರು. ನಾಳೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಊರೀಯನು ಆ ದಿನ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
Then David said to Uriah, "Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart." So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day.
13 ೧೩ ಮರುದಿನ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮತ್ತನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಸೇವಕರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹಾಸಿಗೆ ಹಾಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನೇ ಹೊರತು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And the next day David summoned him, and he ate and drank in his presence, and he became drunk. But in the evening he went out and lay on a bed with his master's servants, and did not go down to his house.
14 ೧೪ ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಬರೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಊರೀಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
It happened in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
15 ೧೫ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ, “ಊರೀಯನು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡು ಸಾಯುವಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಘೋರ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಡೆ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ನೀವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದನು.
He wrote in the letter, saying, "Send Uriah to the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die."
16 ೧೬ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕುವಾಗ ಶೂರರಾದ ಶತ್ರುಸೈನಿಕರು ಎಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾರೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
It happened, when Joab kept watch on the city, that he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.
17 ೧೭ ಆ ಊರಿನ ಜನರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನೊಡನೆ ಕಾದಾಡಿದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರು. ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನೂ ಸಹ ಸತ್ತನು.
The men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. Some of the people fell, even of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hethite died also.
Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;
and he commanded the messenger, saying, "When you have finished telling all the things concerning the war to the king,
20 ೨೦ ‘ನೀವು ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಶತ್ರುಗಳು ಊರಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಣಿಂದ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆಯುವರೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
if it happens that he becomes angry,
21 ೨೧ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬೇಷೆತನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೇಕನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದವರು ಯಾರು ಎಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ತೇಬೇಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಬೀಸುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಳಲ್ಲವೇ. ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇಕೆ?’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ನೀನು, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ಊರೀಯನು ಮೃತನಾದನೆಂದು ಹೇಳು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
then you are to say, 'Your servant Uriah the Hethite is dead also.'"
So the messenger of Joab went to the king in Jerusalem and reported to David everything that Joab had told him.
23 ೨೩ “ಆ ಊರಿನವರು ಮಹಾಸೈನ್ಯಬಲದೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಯಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನವರೆಗೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದೆವು.
The messenger said to David, "The men overpowered us, and came out to us into the field, and when we drove them back to the entrance of the gate,
24 ೨೪ ಆಗ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರರು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರು. ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ಊರೀಯನೂ ಸತ್ತನು” ಎಂದನು.
then the arrows came down heavily on your servants from the wall, and some eighteen men of the king's servants died." And the messenger finished the words to the king about the report of the battle. Then David was very angry with Joab, and said to the messenger, "Why did you go so close to the city to fight? Didn't you know you would be struck from the wall? Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal? Didn't a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near to the wall?" [Then the messenger said to the king, ] "Also your servant Uriah the Hethite is dead."
25 ೨೫ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು ದೂತನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗು, ಇದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ವ್ಯಸನಪಡಬೇಡ. ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿದರೆ, ನಾಳೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನುಂಗುವುದು, ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಶೂರತನದಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡಿರಿ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅರಸನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಧೈರ್ಯಪಡಿಸು” ಎಂದನು.
Then David said to the messenger, "Thus you shall tell Joab, 'Do not let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it.' And encourage him."
When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband.
27 ೨೭ ದುಃಖಕಾಲವು ತೀರಿದ ನಂತರ ದಾವೀದನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರತರಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಅವನಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ದಾವೀದನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಈ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳು ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದೂ, ಅನೀತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು.
When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased YHWH.
