ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 16
1 ೧ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ; ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಿ? ಕೊಂಬಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ; ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him so as not to reign over Israel? fill thy horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth-lechemite; for I have selected among his sons unto myself a king.
2 ೨ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ನಾನು ಹೋಗುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ಇದು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವನಲ್ಲವೇ” ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು, “ನೀನು ಒಂದು ಕರುವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಇಷಯನನ್ನು ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕರೆ.
And Samuel said, How shall I go? if Saul should hear it, he would kill me. And the Lord said, Take a heifer with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto the Lord am I come.
3 ೩ ಆ ನಂತರ ನೀನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾನೇ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೋ, ಅವನನ್ನು ನೀನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದನು.
And invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will let thee know what thou shalt do; and thou shalt anoint unto me the one whom I will say unto thee.
4 ೪ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಆ ಊರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡು “ನಿನ್ನ ಆಗಮನವು ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭಕರವಾಗಿದೆಯೇ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು
And Samuel did that which the Lord had spoken, and came to Beth-lechem. And the elders of the town came hastily to meet him, and said, Peace to thee at thy coming.
5 ೫ ಅವನು, “ಹೌದು, ಶುಭಕರವಾಗಿದೆ; ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಇಷಯನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಿಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದನು.
And he said, Peace: to sacrifice unto the Lord am I come; sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 ೬ ಅವರು ಬರಲು ಅವನು ಎಲೀಯಾಬನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವನು ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
And it came to pass, when they came, that he saw Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord's anointed is [here] before him.
7 ೭ ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಅವನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನೂ, ಎತ್ತರವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಬೇಡ; ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ಹೊರಗಿನ ತೋರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡದೆ ಹೃದಯದ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ನೋಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಅಂದನು.
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Regard not his appearance, nor the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for not what man looketh on; —for man looketh on the eyes, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
Then Jesse called Abinadab, and caused him to pass before Samuel. And he said, This one also hath the Lord not chosen.
Then Jesse caused Shammah to pass by. And he said, This one also hath the Lord not chosen.
10 ೧೦ ಹೀಗೆ ಇಷಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮುವೇಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಅವನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು.
And Jesse caused seven of his sons to pass before Samuel: and Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not made choice of these.
11 ೧೧ ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಇಷಯನನ್ನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಮಂದಿಯೋ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವನು, “ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವನು ಒಬ್ಬನಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಅವನು ಕುರಿಮೇಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ತಿಳಿಸು; ಅವನು ಬರುವವರೆಗೂ ನಾವು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಇಷಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are there not more young men? And he said, There is yet left behind the youngest, and, behold, he is feeding the flocks. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him; for we will not sit down till he have come hither.
12 ೧೨ ಅವನು ಕೆಂಪುಬಣ್ಣದವನೂ, ಸುಂದರನೇತ್ರನೂ, ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ರಮಣೀಯನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ಎದ್ದು ಇವನನ್ನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸು; ನಾನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವನು ಇವನೇ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಲು
And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, having withal handsome eyes, and being of a goodly appearance. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.
13 ೧೩ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಕೊಂಬನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನನ್ನು, ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿದನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ದಾವೀದನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
Then took Samuel the horn of oil, and anointed him from among his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came suddenly upon David from that day and forward. And Samuel then rose up, and went to Ramah.
14 ೧೪ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಯಿತು; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಪೀಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಿಂದ
And the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and there troubled him an evil spirit from the Lord.
And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
16 ೧೬ ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ; ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಾವು ಹೋಗಿ ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ತರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಉಪಶಮನವಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Let our Lord but say [the word], and thy servants, now before thee, will seek out a man, who is skilful as a player on the harp; and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, that thou mayest be well.
17 ೧೭ ಸೌಲನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನುಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹುಡುಕಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And Saul said unto his servants, Select for me, I pray you, a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
18 ೧೮ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅವನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನೂ, ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯೂ, ಯುದ್ಧ ನಿಪುಣನೂ, ವಾಕ್ಚತುರನೂ, ಸುಂದರನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-lechemite, who is skilful as a player, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and intelligent in speech, and a person of a good form, and the Lord is with him.
19 ೧೯ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಸೌಲನು ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಸಿದನು.
Thereupon Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, who is with the flocks.
20 ೨೦ ಇಷಯನು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಬುದ್ದಲಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಹೋತಮರಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them through David his son unto Saul.
21 ೨೧ ಹೀಗೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನ ಸೇವಕನಾದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
And David came to Saul, and stood before him; and he loved him greatly, and he became his armor-bearer.
22 ೨೨ ತರುವಾಯ ಸೌಲನು ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favor in my eyes.
23 ೨೩ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಕಿನ್ನರಿಯನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸುವನು; ಅದರಿಂದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುವುದು; ಅವನು ಉಪಶಮನಹೊಂದಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
And it came to pass, when the spirit of God was upon Saul, that David took the harp, and played with his hand; so Saul became relieved, and he felt well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
