ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 15
1 ೧ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನಲ್ಲಾ; ಆತನು ಈಗ ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳು.
And Samuel said unto Saul, Me did the Lord send to anoint thee as king over his people, over Israel; and now hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 ೨ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನಗೆ, ‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ತೊಂದರೆಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೆನಪುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವೆನು.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I remember what Amalek did to Israel, how he lay in wait for him on the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 ೩ ಈಗ ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗಿರುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡು. ಗಂಡಸರನ್ನೂ, ಹೆಂಗಸರನ್ನೂ, ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ಶಿಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಎತ್ತು, ಕುರಿ, ಕತ್ತೆ, ಒಂಟೆ, ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕನಿಕರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ’” ಅಂದನು.
Now go and smite 'Amalek, and devote all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and lamb, camel and ass.
4 ೪ ಸೌಲನು ತೆಲಾಯೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಲು ಎರಡು ಲಕ್ಷ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳು ಇದ್ದರು; ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಇದ್ದರು.
And Saul ordered the people to assemble, and he numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand men on foot, and ten thousand of the men of Judah.
And Saul came to the city of 'Amalek, and he fought in the valley.
6 ೬ ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಕೇನ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಿರಿ; ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ನೀವೂ ಅವರೊಡನೆ ನಾಶವಾದೀರಿ. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಐಗುಪ್ತದಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸಿದಿರಲ್ಲಾ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಅವರು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋದರು.
And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from the midst of the 'Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; whereas ye acted kindly with all the children of Israel, at their coming up out of Egypt. And the Kenites departed from the midst of the 'Amalekites.
7 ೭ ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹವೀಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಿಂದ ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶೂರಿನವರೆಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಹೋದನು.
And Saul smote the 'Amalekites from Chavilah until thou comest to Shur, that is before Egypt.
And he caught Agag the king of the 'Amalekites alive, and all the people he devoted to the edge of the sword.
9 ೯ ಸೌಲನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಅಗಾಗನನ್ನೂ, ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಕುರಿದನಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಕೊಬ್ಬಿದ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಾಶಮಾಡಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಉಳಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಿಲ್ಲದಂಥ ಹೀನವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
But Saul together with the people had pity on Agag, and on the best of the flocks, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the fat lambs, and all that was good, and they would not destroy them; but all the cattle that was of little value and weak, that they destroyed.
10 ೧೦ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಈಗ ವಿಷಾದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟನು; ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And the word of the Lord came unto Samuel, saying,
I repent that I have set up Saul as king; for he hath turned back from following me, and my word hath he not performed: and it displeased Samuel, and he cried unto the Lord all the night.
12 ೧೨ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಸೌಲನು ಕರ್ಮೆಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಸ್ತಂಭವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಗಟ್ಟಾ ಇಳಿದು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು” ಎಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ
And Samuel rose up early to meet Saul in the morning; and it was told to Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set himself up a monument, and then went about, and passed on, and went down to Gilgal.
13 ೧೩ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲಿ; ನಾನು ಆತನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದೆನು” ಅಂದನು.
And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou unto the Lord, I have performed the word of the Lord.
14 ೧೪ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಇದೇನು? ಕುರಿಗಳ ಕೂಗು ನನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತದೆ, ದನಗಳ ಶಬ್ದವು ನನಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ” ಎನ್ನಲು
And Samuel said, What is then this bleating of the flocks in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 ೧೫ ಸೌಲನು, “ಜನರು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರ ಕುರಿದನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ತಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದೆವು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Saul said, From the 'Amalekites have they brought them; because the people had pity on the best of the flocks and of the oxen, in order to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest have we destroyed.
16 ೧೬ ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಅದಿರಲಿ; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕಳೆದ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಕೇಳು” ಎನ್ನಲು ಅವನು, “ಹೇಳು” ಅಂದನು.
And Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lord said to me this night: and he said unto him, Speak.
17 ೧೭ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಪನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕುಲಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಿರಸ್ಸನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
And Samuel said, Is it not that, however little thou wast in thy own eyes, thou art the head of the tribes of Israel? and the Lord anointed thee as king over Israel?
18 ೧೮ ಆತನು ನಿನಗೆ, ‘ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗಿ ದುಷ್ಟರಾದ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and destroy the sinners, the 'Amalekites, and thou shalt fight against them until they be consumed.
Wherefore then didst thou not hearken unto the voice of the Lord, and didst fly upon the spoil, and didst the evil in the eyes of the Lord?
20 ೨೦ ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ಏನು? ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಆತನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಗಾಗನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ತಂದೆನು.
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have fully hearkened unto the voice of the Lord; and I went on the way which the Lord had sent me; and I have brought Agag the king of 'Amalek; and the 'Amalekites have I destroyed.
21 ೨೧ ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಕುರಿದನಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಸಿ ತಂದರು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And the people took of the spoil, of the flocks and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22 ೨೨ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ವಿಧೇಯತ್ವವನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚುವಷ್ಟು ಯಜ್ಞಹೋಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾನೋ? ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಆತನ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಾಲನೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿದೆ; ಟಗರುಗಳ ಕೊಬ್ಬಿಗಿಂತ ವಿಧೇಯತೆ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದುದು.
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as much delight in burnt-offerings and in sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to attend more than the fat of the rams.
23 ೨೩ ಅವಿಧೇಯತ್ವವು ಮಂತ್ರತಂತ್ರಗಳಷ್ಟೇ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದಾಗಿರುವುದು. ಹಟವು ಮಿಥ್ಯಾಭಕ್ತಿಗೂ, ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧನೆಗೂ ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿರುವುದು. ನೀನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ನಡೆಯದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅರಸುತನದಿಂದ ನಿವಾರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
For the sin of witchcraft is rebellion, and idolatry and image-worship, stubbornness; inasmuch as thou hast despised the word of the Lord, he hath also despised thee that thou shalt not be king.
24 ೨೪ ಸೌಲನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿ ಅವರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆನು.
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the will of the Lord, and thy words; because I feared the people, and I hearkened to their voice.
25 ೨೫ ನೀನು ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸು; ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವಂತೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾ” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
And now, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may prostrate myself to the Lord.
26 ೨೬ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ನಾನು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನೀನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ನಡೆಯದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸುತನದಿಂದ ನಿವಾರಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಡಲು
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee; for thou didst despise the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath despised thee, that thou shalt not be king over Israel.
And Samuel turned about to go: and he laid hold on the corner of his mantle, and it was rent.
28 ೨೮ ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ನಿನಗಿಂತ ಉತ್ತಮನಾದ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from off thee this day, and hath given it to thy associate, who is better than thou.
29 ೨೯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ನಿರಂತರ ಆಧಾರವಾಗಿ ಇರುವವನು ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡುವವನಲ್ಲ; ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಡುವವನಲ್ಲ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಡೆಸದೆ ಬಿಡುವವನಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.
30 ೩೦ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೌಲನು, “ನಾನು ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ನನ್ನ ಮಾನವನ್ನುಳಿಸು. ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವಂತೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾ” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
And he said, I have sinned; [yet] honor me now, I pray thee, in the presence of the elders of my people, and in the presence of Israel, and return with me, that I may prostrate myself unto the Lord thy God.
So Samuel returned, following Saul; and Saul prostrated himself to the Lord.
32 ೩೨ ತರುವಾಯ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಗಾಗನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದನು. ಅಗಾಗನು ಮರಣಭಯ ತಪ್ಪಿತೆಂದು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಅವನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದನು.
And Samuel said, Bring ye hither unto me Agag the king of the 'Amalekites: and Agag came unto him cheerfully; and Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
33 ೩೩ ಆದರೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಅನೇಕ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರಿಗೆ ಪುತ್ರಶೋಕವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಿದೆ; ಅದರಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಪುತ್ರಶೋಕವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
And Samuel said, As thy sword did make women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women; and Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house at Gib'ah of Saul.
35 ೩೫ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಜೀವದಿಂದ ಇರುವವರೆಗೂ ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ನೋಡಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಿಷಾದಪಟ್ಟನು. ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅವನ ಕುರಿತು ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
And Samuel did not see Saul any more until the day of his death; because Samuel mourned for Saul; and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
