ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 11
1 ೧ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯನಾದ ನಾಹಾಷನು ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದು ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಲು, ಯಾಬೇಷಿನವರು ಅವನನ್ನು, “ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ; ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವೆವು” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
Then came up Nahash the Ammonite, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead, —and all the man of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Solemnise with us a covenant, that we may serve thee.
2 ೨ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಪಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಮೊದಲು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಲಗಣ್ಣನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಹಾಕುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಾದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Nahash the Ammonite said unto them, Hereby, will I solemnise [a covenant] with you by digging out for you, every one’s right eye, —and laying it for a reproach, upon all Israel.
3 ೩ ಆಗ ಯಾಬೇಷಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಏಳು ದಿನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಸಮಯ ಕೊಡು; ಅಷ್ಟರೊಳಗೆ ನಾವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಅಧೀನರಾಗುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
And the elders of Jabesh said unto him—Give us a respite of seven days, that we may send messengers throughout all the bounds of Israel, —and then, if there is none to save us, we will come out unto thee.
And, when the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spake the words in the ears of the people, all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 ೫ ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಲನು ಹೊಲದಿಂದ ದನಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದನು. ಅವನು, “ಜನರು ಗೋಳಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯಾಬೇಷಿನವರ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
But lo! Saul, came in, following the oxen, out of the field, and Saul said, What aileth the people, that they should weep? Then were recounted to him the words of the men of Jabesh.
6 ೬ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದಿತು. ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, ಒಂದು ಜೋಡಿ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತುಂಡು ತುಂಡು ಮಾಡಿದನು.
And the Spirit of God came suddenly upon Saul, when he heard these words, —and his anger raged furiously.
7 ೭ ಆ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ಯಾರು ಸೌಲ, ಸಮುವೇಲರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅವರ ಎತ್ತುಗಳು ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಕಡಿಯಲ್ಪಡುವವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಏಕಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದರು.
So he took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent throughout all the bounds of Israel by the hand of messengers—saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul, and after Samuel, so, shall it be done unto his oxen. Then felt the dread of Yahweh, upon the people, and they came forth, as one man.
8 ೮ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಲಕ್ಷ ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
And, when he numbered them in Bezek, the sons of Israel were found to be—three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
9 ೯ ಅವರು ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ದೂತರಿಗೆ, “ನಾಳೆ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದೆಂದು ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
So they said unto the messengers who had come—Thus, shall ye surely say to the men of Jabesh-gilead, To-morrow, shall ye have deliverance, about the time the son is hot. And, when the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, they rejoiced.
10 ೧೦ ದೂತರು ಹೋಗಿ ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಯಾಬೇಷಿನವರು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟು ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ನಾಳೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವೆವು; ನಿಮಗೆ ಸರಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
So the men of Jabesh said, To-morrow, will we come out unto you, —Then shall ye do with us, according to all that is good in your eyes.
11 ೧೧ ಸೌಲನು ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಗುಂಪನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಪಾಳೆಯದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ವರೆಗೆ ಹತ್ಯೆಮಾಡಿದನು. ಉಳಿದವರನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದ ಹಾಗೆ ಚದರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Saul set the people in three companies, and they entered into the midst of the host, during the morning watch, and smote Ammon until the day was hot. And it came to pass that, they who were left, were scattered, so that there were not left among them, two together.
12 ೧೨ ತರುವಾಯ ಜನರು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ಸೌಲನು ನಮಗೆ ಅರಸನಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದವರು ಯಾರು? ಅವರನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿರಿ; ನಾವು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದರು.
Then said the people unto Samuel, Who is he that was saying, Shall, Saul, reign over us? Give up the men, that we may put them to death.
13 ೧೩ ಸೌಲನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ದಿನ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಜಯವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
But Saul said, There shall not be put to death a man, this day, —for, to-day, hath Yahweh wrought deliverance in Israel.
Then said Samuel unto the people, Come and let us go to Gilgal, —and let us there renew the kingdom.
15 ೧೫ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಲನ ಅರಸುತನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಿರಪಡಿಸಿ, ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿ, ಸೌಲನೊಡನೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಆನಂದಿಸಿದರು.
So all the people went to Gilgal, and made Saul king there, before Yahweh, in Gilgal, and offered there sacrifices of peace-offerings before Yahweh, —and Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced there, exceedingly.
