1 Vahe'mo'ma rimpa frune akoheno mani'neno naga'anema osia kave'ma ne'zamo'a, tusi'a ne'zama hafra nehuno kreno ne'zana agatere'ne.
It is better [to eat] a dry piece [of bread] and not have strife/quarrels than to have a big feast in a house where [everyone] is quarreling.
2 Knare antahi'zane eri'za ne'mo'a, kva'amofo mofavre'mo'ma agaze hu avu'ava'ma hania mofavremofona ugota huno kegava hunte'neno, mofavre'amo'za erisanti haregahaze huzmante'nesafintira erigahie.
A slave who acts wisely will [some day] be the boss of his master’s disgraceful son and when his master dies, the slave will receive part of his master’s possessions.
3 Koline silvanena tevefi kre'za eri agru nehaze. Hianagi Ra Anumzamoke tagu'amofona reheno nege.
[Workers put] silver and gold in a very hot furnace [to burn out what is impure], and Yahweh [similarly] examines people’s inner beings [to see if they are pure].
4 Kefo avu'ava'ene vahe'mo'a, havigema nehazankea nentahie. Hagi tavre vahe'mo'a, vahe'ma azeri haviza hukema hazanke nentahie.
Those who do what is evil pay attention to people who say [MTY] what is evil, and liars pay attention to [other people’s] lies.
5 Amunte omane vahe'ma huhaviza huntesia vahe'mo'a, tro'ma huzmante'nea Ra Anumzamofo huhaviza hunente. Hagi hazenkema erisaza zanku'ma muse hanimo'a, agra'a havi mizana erigahie.
Those who make fun of poor [people] insult God, the one who made the poor [people], [and] those who are happy when [someone else has] troubles will certainly be punished [LIT] [by God].
6 Nenama hu'za ra avuma omesaza vahe'mokizmia, zamagehe'mo'za kini fetorikna zamanuntera hu'nage'za, ra zamagi vahe'mo'za nezamize. Hagi mofavremo'za zamarera zamafana muse huzmantegahaze.
Old [people] are [usually] proud of [MET] their grandchildren, [just like] children are [usually] proud of their parents.
7 Neginagi vahe'mofontera knare ke'ma hu'zamo'a, haviza hu'neanagi, kva ne'mo'ma havigema hu'zamo'a, havizantfa hu'ne.
Fine/Eloquent speech is not suitable for foolish people to say, just like lies are not suitable for rulers [to say].
8 Mago'mo'ma mago zama erinaku zagoreti'ma maseve'ma amino erisia zamo'a agraragisa kaguvaza huno efore hiankna nehie. Iza'o anazama himo'a maka zampina knare nehie.
People think that a bribe is like a magic stone [to persuade someone to do what they want him to do]; they think that because of the bribe, that person will do whatever they want him to do.
9 Iza'o havizama huntesimofoma kefo zama'a atrentesimo'a, amu'nozanifina avesinte avu'avazamo'a, meno vugahie. Hianagi arone'amofo havi avu'avazama'agu hugantigama hanimo'a, knare knampa'a azeri atanegahie.
If you want people to like/love you, forgive them for the wrong things that they do to you. If you continue to remind them about those wrong things, they will no longer be your friends.
10 Kemofoma refko huno antahi ankemare vahe'mofona, magoke zupama azeri fatgo hu kema asamisankeno'a antahigahianagi, neginagi vahe'mofoma azeri fatgo hunaku'ma 100'a zupa knona ami'sanana, avu'avara ruzahera osugahie.
Rebuking people who have good sense will accomplish more for them than hitting them 100 times [with a stick].
11 Kefo avu'avazane vahe'mo'za, ha'ma erifore hu zankuke zamave'nesiankino, hazenkema zami vahera huntenkeno zamavaririgahie.
[Because] wicked people are always trying to cause trouble, someone will be sent to severely punish them.
12 Anenta'ama kumzafama ase'nesaza beama, mago ne'mo'ma kantegama tutagihama hunte'zamo'a knare hu'neanagi, neginagi vahe'mo'za neginagi zamavu'zamava'ma nehaza vahe'enema tragoteno manizana agatere'ne.
A mother bear whose cubs have been taken away from her is dangerous, but it is more dangerous to confront a foolish person who is doing something foolish.
13 Hagi mago vahe'mo'a knare'zama magamofoma huntesia zanku'ma, nona huno kefozama huntesia vahe'mofona, kefo zamo'a naga'afintira atreno ovutfa hugahie.
If someone does something evil in return for something good being done to him, evil/trouble will never leave that person’s family.
14 Haframa hu'zamo'ma agafama nehanigeta, koma eri amne osanunkeno'a, ti anagi atregeno ti hageno eankna huno rama'aza eri haviza hugahie.
Starting a quarrel is like allowing water to start to leak out of a dam; they both need to be stopped before they get worse.
15 Kefo avu'ava'ma nehia vaheku'ma fatgo vahere nehu'za, fatgo zmavu'avazama nehaza vaheku'ma, kefo vahere hu'zama nehaza tare zamavu'zmavakura, Ra Anumzamo'a agoteno avesra hunezmante.
There are two things that Yahweh hates: (Condemning innocent [people]/Saying that people who have done nothing wrong must be punished), and declaring that people who have done wicked things should not be punished.
16 Neginagi vahe'mo'za knare antahi'zama rempima hu'za eri zamave'sizama omane'nege'za, na'a hige'za avono huzama mizasesaza zagoa zamazampina eri'naze?
It is useless to allow foolish people [RHQ] to try to become wise by paying for it, because they do not have enough good sense to become wise.
17 Mika zupa knampati'mo'za zamavesirantegahaze. Hagi knazampima taza hanagu tafuhe'mokizmia kasezmante'naze.
Friends love [others] all the time, and relatives are able to help us when we have troubles.
18 Knare antahi'zazmima omane vahe'mo'za zamagrazmi huvempa hu'za, tava'ozmire nemani'za vahe'mo'za nofi'ma hu'naza zama ovakanesageta, tagrati vakanezmantegahune hu'za nehaze.
[If someone borrows money from another person], it is foolish for you to promise [IDM] that you will pay the money back if that other person is unable to pay back the money that he borrowed.
19 Iza'o ha'frama hu'zankuma avesintemo'a, kumiku ave'nesie. Iza'o agra'a agima erintesgama nehimo'a, hazenke erigahie.
Those who like to sin [also] like to cause strife/trouble; [and] those who build fancy doors in their houses [to show that they are very wealthy] (OR, speak proudly) are inviting disaster.
20 Akrehe akrehe agu'ane ne'mo'a, knare zana hakeno erifore osugahie. Hagi iza'o tavre kema nehanimo'a, hazenkefi ufregahie.
Those who (have perverse minds/are always thinking about doing evil things) will not prosper, and disasters will happen to those who always tell lies.
21 Neginagi vahe'mofo nerera nefa'a, tusi'a ataza e'nerie. Higeno nefa rimpamo'a, ana neginagi ne'mofonkura musena osugahie.
Children who are foolish [soon] cause their parents to be very sad; their parents will not be joyful at all.
22 Musema huno mani'zamo'a, tusazamo vahe'ma azeri so'e higeno maniankna nehie. Hianagi vahe'mofo antahi'zamo'ma havizama haniana, havi krimo zaferinafi me'neno azeri haviza hiankna hu'ne.
Being cheerful is [like swallowing] good medicine; being discouraged/gloomy [all the time will] (drain away your energy/cause you to become weak) [MTY].
23 Kema refkohu tratema kefo ne'mo'ma mani'nesuno'a, keagama eri haviza hinogu oku'a masevema huno amisia zagoa e'nerino, keaga eri rukrahe huno fatgo kantera ontahigosie.
Wicked people/judges accept bribes that are given to them secretly, and as a result they do not decide matters justly/fairly.
24 Antahi'zane vahe'mo'a knare antahi'zante avua anteno nevie. Hianagi havi vahe'mofo avumo'a, mopa ataginare ame huno omegege, emegege huno nevie
Those who have good sense determine to do what is wise, but foolish people are always thinking about many different things [and never decide what they should do].
25 Neginagi mofavremo'za nezmafana zamasuzana eri nezamie. Hagi kasema ante'nea zamarerahe'ina, zamarimpa zamata erinezamize.
Children who are foolish cause their father to be sad and [also] cause their mother to be very sorrowful.
26 Fatgo hu'nesia vahe'ma knazama zamige, knare huno hazenke'a omane kva vahe'ma kanoma ami'zamo'a, haviza hu'ne.
It is not right to force someone who has done nothing wrong to pay a fine; it is wrong to punish good/respected people.
27 Knare antahintahima me'nea vahe'mo'a, rama'a keaga osugahie. Hagi ama' antahi'zama me'nenia ne'mo'a, ame huno rimpagna osugahie.
Those who have good sense do not talk a lot, and those who (control their tempers/keep themselves from becoming very angry) are [truly] wise.
28 E'ina hu'negu neginagi vahe'mo'ma kema osuno manisia zankura, vahe'mo'za knare antahi'za eri'ne hugahaze.
People [may] think that foolish people who do not say anything are wise; if foolish people (do not say anything/keep their mouths shut), others will think that they are [very] intelligent.
