And in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar—Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip, tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 Ana knafina Anasike, Kaiafasikea mono nonte ugagota pristi netre mani'na'e. Higeno Anumzamofo kemo, vahe omani hagege kokampi Zekaraia nemofo Joninte e'ne.
[and] Annas and Caiaphas being chief priests—there came a word of God to John the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness,
3 Joni'a mika Jodani rantima me'nea kaziga vano nehuno, tamagu'a rukrahe nehutma mono ti nefrenkeno, kumi tamia atreramanteno huno mono ke hu'ne.
and he came to all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming an immersion of conversion for forgiveness of sins,

as it has been written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD, Make His paths straight;
5 Mika keri'a antevineteta, mika agona eri agupo nehutma, kazaki nesia zantamina eri fatgo nehutma, haviza huno knare osu'nesia kantamina erintefatgo, nehinkeno,
Every valley will be filled, And every mountain and hill will be made low, And the crooked will become straightness, And the rough become smooth ways;
6 ana mika vahe'mo'za Anumzamo'ma tahokema heazana kegahaze. (Ais 40:3-5)
And all flesh will see the salvation of God.”
7 Higeno Joni'a agrite'ma mono ti frerantesie hu'za e'naza vahe krerfamo'za anage huno zamasami'ne, Tamagra ha' osifave'mofo mofavre nagare! Aza hanigetma Anumzamofo rimpa hezampintira korera fregahaze?
Then he said to the multitudes coming forth to be immersed by him, “Brood of vipers! Who prompted you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 E'ina hu'negu, tamagrama tamagu'ama rukrehema hu'nenutma knare tamavutmava hinkeno hago zamagu'a rukrehe hu'naze hu'za hugahaze. Tamagra agafa hutma Abrahamu'a tagri nerageho mani'ne huta osutfa hiho. Na'ankure tamagri'ma neramasmuana, Anumzamo'a amne ama haveramintetira Abrahamuna mofavrea erifore humigahie.
Make, therefore, fruits worthy of conversion, and do not begin to say within yourselves, We have a father—Abraham; for I say to you that God is able to raise children to Abraham out of these stones;
9 Menina hago sasumemo'a zafa antaginaku agafafi kriri'ne, hagino anampinti'ma knare ragama reontesia zafa antagino tevefi asaga huno kregahie.
and also the axe is already laid to the root of the trees, every tree, therefore, not making good fruit is cut down, and it is cast into fire.”
10 Hige'za ana vahe kevumo'za Jonina anage hu'za antahige'naze. Hagi tagra na'a hugahu'ne?
And the multitudes were questioning him, saying, “What, then, will we do?”
11 Hu'za antahigageno, Joni'a, zamagari kenona anage huno zamasmi'ne, azagama tare kenama ante'nesamoka, magora onte'nesimofo ome fako humio, hagi azagama ne'zama ante'nesamoka, anazanke hunka fako huzamio.
And he answering says to them, “He having two coats, let him impart to him having none; and he having food, let him do in like manner.”
12 Takisi zagoma zonegiza vahe'mo'zane, ti frerantegahie hu'za e'namo'zanena, Jonina anage hu'za antahige'naze. Rempi huzami nemoke, tagranena nankna hugahune?
And there also came tax collectors to be immersed, and they said to him, “Teacher, what will we do?”
13 Agra anage huno zamasmi'ne, Kvamo'ma eriho hu'nesia kana arugateretma mago'ene zagoa zo'onkiho.
And he said to them, “Exact no more than that directed you.”
14 Anante mago'a sondia vahe'mo'za antahige'naze. Hagi tagaranena na'a hugahune? Hazageno Joni'a anage huno zamagrira zamasmi'ne, Vahe'mokizami zagoa tutu huzamanteta havigea hutma e'oriho. Hagi tamarimpa fru hutma mizantami eri fatgo hiho.
And also questioning him were those warring, saying, “And we, what will we do?” And he said to them, “Do violence to no one, nor accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”
15 Anagema hianke vahe'mo'za nentahi'za, Joninkura Kraisi hago ama e'nefi nehu'za, tare tagufa zamagesa antahi'naze.
And the people are looking forward, and all are reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether or not he may be the Christ;
16 Joni'a mika'mokizmi kenona anage hu'ne, Nagra amane tintafanteti fre'neramantoe. Hianagi magoma ne'emo'a nagrira nagatereno tusi hihamu'ane ne' egahie. Nagra amuha osu'noankina Agri aganomofo nofira katu ofegahue. Agra mono tina Ruotage Avamuteti'ene, tevereti'ene freramantegahie.
John answered, saying to all, “I indeed immerse you in water, but He comes who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to loose the strap of His sandals—He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire;
17 Agra witi eri herahehu fokua azampi eri'no, witi hona'a hare kuma harafi nehuno, nena'a witi ante nompi eri'nenteno, hona'a vaga ore tevefi kre fanene hugahie.
whose winnowing shovel [is] in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His floor, and will gather the wheat into His storehouse, and He will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18 Ana huno amanahu kante, Joni'a rama'a knare antahintahi erinteno, vahera Knare Musenkea zamasami'ne.
And therefore, indeed, with many other things, exhorting, he was proclaiming good news to the people,
19 Hianagi Joni'a rankva ne' Herotina haviza hu'nane huno hanavetino asami'ne, na'ankure nefu nenaro rehanereno Herodiasina a' erinte'nea zanku'ene, havi avu'avazama hiazanku anagea hunte'ne.
and Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, and concerning all the evils that Herod did,
20 Heroti'a mago'ene ana agofetu kefozama hu'neana, Jonina kina hunte'ne.
added also this to all, that he shut up John in the prison.
21 Maka veamo'za mono ti fretageno, Jisasi'enena mono ti freteno, nunamu nehigeno mona kafamo'a anagigeno,
And it came to pass, in all the people being immersed, Jesus also being immersed, and praying, Heaven was opened,
