1 Ana hige'na ama ana maka zama rezaganena koana, fatgo avu'ava'ma nehia vahe'mo'ene knare antahi'zane vahe'mo'enema, maka zama neha'a zamo'a Anumzamofo azampi me'ne. E'ina hu'neankino mago vahe'ma avesintege avesra huntege'ma hu'zana vahe'mo'a keno antahinora osu'ne.
I have drawn all these things through my heart, so that I might carefully understand. There are just men as well as wise men, and their works are in the hand of God. And yet a man does not know so much as whether he is worthy of love or of hatred.
2 Maka fatgo avu'ava'ene vahero, kefo avu'ava'ene vahero, knare vahero, havi vahero, agruhu vahero, agru osu vahero, mono vahero, mono ontahi vahera, ana maka vahe'mo'a mago'zahu kanteke vugahie. But all things in the future remain uncertain, because all things happen equally to the just and to the impious, to the good and to the bad, to the pure and to the impure, to those who offer sacrifices and to those who despise sacrifices. As the good are, so also are sinners. As those who commit perjury are, so also are those who swear to the truth.
3 Ana maka vahe'motare'ma mago zahu'zama fore'ma nehia zamo'a knarera nosie. E'ina hu'negu vahe'mo'za zamagra'a kegava hu'neza knare avu'avara nosazanki'za zamagra'a zamavesi'zamofo amage'nente'za, ome havizana nehaze. Hagi ana amefira mago'zana omane'neanki, fri'za nevaze.
This is a very great burden among all things that are done under the sun: that the same things happen to everyone. And when the hearts of the sons of men are filled with malice and contempt in their lives, afterwards they shall be dragged down to hell. (questioned)
4 Hianagi kasefa'ma hu'za mani'naza vahe'mokizmia amuha zazmia me'ne. Na'ankure zamagra amanage hu'za nehaze, kasefa huno mani'nea kramo'a fri'nea laionia agatere'ne hu'za nehaze.
There is no one who lives forever, or who even has confidence in this regard. A living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 Hagi kasefa'ma huta mani'nona vahe'mota, frigahune huta antahi'none. Hianagi fri'naza vahe'mo'za magozankura zamagesa ontahige, mago zamofo antahintahimo'a antahintahi zamifina nomanege'za, vahe'mo'zanena antahi nozamize.
For the living know that they themselves will die, yet truly the dead know nothing anymore, nor do they have any recompense. For the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Ana vahe'ma fri'zageno'a vahe'ma zamavesi nezmante'za, zamavaresrama hunezmante'za, kezmanunuma nehaza antahintahi zamo'enena ana maka fanene nehie. Ana hu'neankiza ete ru'enena ama mopafima fore'ma nehia zantamina nege'za, antahintahia osugahaze.
Likewise, love and hatred and envy have all perished together, nor have they any place in this age and in the work which is done under the sun.
7 E'ina hu'negu muse nehunka vunka nezanka'a ome nenenka, waini tinka'a ome no, na'ankure Anumzamo'a ko e'inahuzana hugahane huno hu izo hugante'ne.
So then, go and eat your bread with rejoicing, and drink your wine with gladness. For your works are pleasing to God.
8 Maka zupa knare'nare kukena nehunka, masavena kanuntera fre vava huo.
Let your garments be white at all times, and let not oil be absent from your head.
9 Ama mopafima agafa'a omne knama maninka vanana kna'afina, Anumzamo'ma kamigenka avesima nentana a'ka'anena muse hunka manio. Na'ankure ama mopafima amuhoma hunka maninka vanana zamofo mizama'a kami'ne.
Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your uncertain life which have been given to you under the sun, during all the time of your vanity. For this is your portion in life and in your labor, with which you labor under the sun.
10 Inanknahu eri'zama ama mopafima erisanana maka hankaveka'reti hunka erio. Na'ankure frinka matitega vananana eri'zana ome e'orige, eri'za antahintahia ome retro huge, antahi'zana erige knare antahi'zanena erigera osugahie. (Sheol h7585)
Whatever your hand is able to do, do it earnestly. For neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge will exist in death, toward which you are hurrying. (Sheol h7585)
11 Hagi ete mago zama ama mopafima koana, tusi zama huno agama nerea vahe'mo'a agare zokago'ma reana, vahera zamagaterekera nosigeno, hankave ha' vahe'mo'za hara huzmagateregara nosaze. Anahukna huno knare antahi'zane vahe'mo'a agakura nehigeno, maka zama knare huno tro'ma nehia vahe'mo'a feno vahera nomanigeno, knare huno avonoma huno antahi'zama eria vahe'mofo nomani' zama'amo'a knarera nosie. Hianagi knare kankamunte'ma ruhiza'ma huterema nehaza vahe'mo'za knarera nehaze.
I turned myself toward another thing, and I saw that under the sun, the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor wealth to the learned, nor grace to the skillful: but there is a time and an end for all these things.
12 Na'ankure mago vahe'mo'a knazama avate'ma esiankna antahino keno osu'neankino, kukomo nozame azerigeno antri nehiaza huge, krifumo nama azerigeno antri nehiankna huno hazenke zamo'a vahetera ame huno ne-e.
Man does not know his own end. But, just as fish are caught with a hook, and birds are captured with a snare, so are men seized in the evil time, when it will suddenly overwhelm them.
13 Hagi ama mopafima fore'ma nehia zantmima negogeno'ma, mago knare antahintahima nenamino nazeri musema hiana ama'ne,
This wisdom, likewise, I have seen under the sun, and I have examined it intensely.
14 mago osi kumapina osi'a vahe mani'nazageno, hihamu'ane kini ne'mo'a sondia vahe'ane eno kuma keginamofo tavaonte mopa kateno ante hihi huno marerino hara huzmante'za hu'ne.
There was a small city, with a few men in it. There came against it a great king, who surrounded it, and built fortifications all around it, and the blockade was completed.
15 Hagi ana kumapina mago amunte omne ne' nemania ne'mo'a, knare antahizama'areti ana kumara agu'vazi'ne. Hianagi mago vahe'mo'e huno ana'ma hu'nea zankura antahi omi'naze.
And there was found within it, a poor and wise man, and he freed the city through his wisdom, and nothing was recorded afterward of that poor man.
16 Ana higeno knare antahi'zamo'a hankavea agatere'neanagi, amunte omane ne'mofo knare antahizankura vahe'mo'za antahimi'za zazatera novaze.
And so, I declared that wisdom is better than strength. But how is it, then, that the wisdom of the poor man is treated with contempt, and his words are not heeded?
17 Knare antahi'zane ne'mo'ma akoheno'ma hania ke'ma antahi'zamo'a, neginagi kini ne'mo'ma ranke'ma huno kema nehigeno'ma antahi'zana agatere'ne.
The words of the wise are heard in silence, more so than the outcry of a prince among the foolish.
18 Knare antahi zama eri'zamo ha'zama ante zana agatere'ne. Hianagi kumike ne'mo'a rama'a knare'zantamina eri haviza hugahie.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war. And whoever offends in one thing, shall lose many good things.
