使徒の働き 11
1 さて、使徒たちやユダヤにいる兄弟たちは、異邦人たちも神のみことばを受け入れた、ということを耳にした。
Now the emissaries and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 そこで、ペテロがエルサレムに上ったとき、割礼を受けた者たちは、彼を非難して、
When Peter had come up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,
3 「あなたは割礼のない人々のところに行って、彼らといっしょに食事をした。」と言った。
saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
4 そこでペテロは口を開いて、事の次第を順序正しく説明して言った。
But Peter began, and explained to them in order, saying,
5 「私がヨッパの町で祈っていると、うっとりと夢ごこちになり、幻を見ました。四隅をつり下げられた大きな敷布のような入れ物が天から降りて来て、私のところに届いたのです。
“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain container descending, like it was a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners. It came as far as me.
6 その中をよく見ると、地の四つ足の獣、野獣、はうもの、空の鳥などが見えました。
When I had looked intently at it, I considered, and saw the four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky.
7 そして、『ペテロ。さあ、ほふって食べなさい。』と言う声を聞きました。
I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat!’
8 しかし私は、『主よ。それはできません。私はまだ一度も、きよくない物や汚れた物を食べたことがありません。』と言いました。
But I said, ‘Not so, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.’
9 すると、もう一度天から声がして、『神がきよめた物を、きよくないと言ってはならない。』というお答えがありました。
But a voice answered me the second time out of heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, don’t you call unclean.’
10 こんなことが三回あって後、全部の物がまた天へ引き上げられました。
This was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 すると、どうでしょう。ちょうどそのとき、カイザリヤから私のところへ遣わされた三人の人が、私たちのいた家の前に来ていました。
Behold, immediately three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent from Caesarea to me.
12 そして御霊は私に、ためらわずにその人たちといっしょに行くように、と言われました。そこで、この六人の兄弟たちも私に同行して、私たちはその人の家にはいって行きました。
The Spirit told me to go with them without discriminating. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house.
13 その人が私たちに告げたところによると、彼は御使いを見ましたが、御使いは彼の家の中に立って、『ヨッパに使いをやって、ペテロと呼ばれるシモンを招きなさい。
He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa and get Simon, who is called Peter,
14 その人があなたとあなたの家にいるすべての人を救うことばを話してくれます。』と言ったというのです。
who will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house.’
15 そこで私が話し始めていると、聖霊が、あの最初のとき私たちにお下りになったと同じように、彼らの上にもお下りになったのです。
As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.
16 私はそのとき、主が、『ヨハネは水でバプテスマを授けたが、あなたがたは、聖霊によってバプテスマを授けられる。』と言われたみことばを思い起こしました。
I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘Yochanan indeed immersed in water, but you will be immersed in the Holy Spirit.’
17 こういうわけですから、私たちが主イエス・キリストを信じたとき、神が私たちに下さったのと同じ賜物を、彼らにもお授けになったのなら、どうして私などが神のなさることを妨げることができましょう。」
If then God gave to them the same gift as us when we believed in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who was I, that I could withstand God?”
18 人々はこれを聞いて沈黙し、「それでは、神は、いのちに至る悔い改めを異邦人にもお与えになったのだ。」と言って、神をほめたたえた。
When they heard these things, they held their peace and glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life!”
19 さて、ステパノのことから起こった迫害によって散らされた人々は、フェニキヤ、キプロス、アンテオケまでも進んで行ったが、ユダヤ人以外の者にはだれにも、みことばを語らなかった。
They therefore who were scattered abroad by the oppression that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews only.
20 ところが、その中にキプロス人とクレネ人が幾人かいて、アンテオケに来てからはギリシヤ人にも語りかけ、主イエスのことを宣べ伝えた。
But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, proclaiming the Lord Yeshua.
21 そして、主の御手が彼らとともにあったので、大ぜいの人が信じて主に立ち返った。
The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
22 この知らせが、エルサレムにある教会に聞こえたので、彼らはバルナバをアンテオケに派遣した。
The report concerning them came to the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem. They sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch,
23 彼はそこに到着したとき、神の恵みを見て喜び、みなが心を堅く保って、常に主にとどまっているようにと励ました。
who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain near to the Lord.
24 彼はりっぱな人物で、聖霊と信仰に満ちている人であった。こうして、大ぜいの人が主に導かれた。
For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and many people were added to the Lord.
25 バルナバはサウロを捜しにタルソへ行き、
Barnabas went out to Tarsus to look for Saul.
26 彼に会って、アンテオケに連れて来た。そして、まる一年の間、彼らは教会に集まり、大ぜいの人たちを教えた。弟子たちは、アンテオケで初めて、キリスト者と呼ばれるようになった。
When he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they were gathered together with the assembly, and taught many people. The disciples were first called Messianic in Antioch.
27 そのころ、預言者たちがエルサレムからアンテオケに下って来た。
Now in these days, prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 その中のひとりでアガボという人が立って、世界中に大ききんが起こると御霊によって預言したが、はたしてそれがクラウデオの治世に起こった。
One of them named Agabus stood up and indicated by the Spirit that there should be a great famine all over the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius.
29 そこで、弟子たちは、それぞれの力に応じて、ユダヤに住んでいる兄弟たちに救援の物を送ることに決めた。
As any of the disciples had plenty, each determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea;
30 彼らはそれを実行して、バルナバとサウロの手によって長老たちに送った。
which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
