テトスへの手紙 3
1 第二項 外界に對する信徒の務 汝彼等を諭して、君主及び有権者に服し、言はるる事に從ひ、凡ての善業に己を備へ、
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 誰をも罵らず、争を好まず、寛仁にして凡ての人に對して所有温和を顕す事を忘れざらしめよ。
To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, showing all meekness to all men.
3 蓋我等も、曾て無知不信心にして、迷ひて様々の慾望と快樂との奴隷と成り、惡と嫉妬との中に生活し、憎まるべくして相憎む者なりき。
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another.
4 然れども我救主にて在す神の慈恵と仁愛との顕るるに及び、
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared,
5 我等が行ひし義の業によらず、御慈悲によりて聖霊の賜ふ再生と一新との水洗を以、我等を救給、
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;
6 我救主イエズス、キリストを以て、聖霊を豊に我等に濯ぎ給ひしは、
Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
8 是眞實の談にして、我之に就きて汝の断言せん事を欲す、其は神を信じ奉る人々をして、励みて善業に從事せしめん為なり。斯る業こそは善良にして人に益ある事なれ。
[This is] a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they who have believed in God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
9 愚なる問題と系圖と、争論と律法上の争とを避けよ、其は無益にして、空しければなり。
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10 異説者を一度二度訓戒して後は之に遠ざかれ、
A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject;
11 其は斯の如き人の罪せらるるは、自らの判断にもよることなれば、邪にして誤れる者なる事を知ればなり。
Knowing that he who is such, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by himself.
12 結末 我アルテマ或はチキコを汝に遣はしなば、急ぎてニコポリなる我許に來れ、我冬を彼處に過さんと決したればなり。
When I shall send Artemas to thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
13 法律家なるゼナ及びアポルロを手厚く送りて、足らざる事なからしめよ。
Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing may be wanting to them.
14 斯て我等の[兄弟等]も、果を結ばざる者と成らざらん為、[兄弟の]必要に應じて善業に從事する事を學ぶべし。
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.
15 我と共に居る人々、皆汝に宜しくと言へり。信仰に於て我等を愛する人々に宜しく傳へよ。願はくは神の恩寵汝等一同と共に在らんことを、アメン。
All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace [be] with you all. Amen.
