マタイの福音書 1
1 第一項 キリスト人性の系圖 アブラハムの裔なるダヴィドの裔イエズス、キリストの系圖。
The Genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 アブラハムイザアクを生み、イザアクヤコブを生み、ヤコブユダと其兄弟等とを生み、
Abraham was the father of Isaac; Isaac of Jacob; Jacob of Judah and his brothers.
3 ユダタマルによりてファレスとザラとを生み、ファレスエスロンを生み、エスロンアラムを生み、
Judah was the father (by Tamar) of Perez and Zerah; Perez of Hezron; Hezron of Ram;
4 アラムアミナダブを生み、アミナダブナアソンを生み、ナアソンサルモンを生み、
Ram of Amminadab; Amminadab of Nahshon; Nahshon of Salmon;
5 サルモンラハブによりてボオズを生み、ボオズルトによりてオベドを生み、オベドイエッセを生み、イエッセダヴィド王を生み、
Salmon (by Rahab) of Boaz; Boaz (by Ruth) of Obed; Obed of Jesse;
6 ダヴィド王ウリアの[妻]たりし者によりてサロモンを生み、
Jesse of David--the King. David (by Uriah's widow) was the father of Solomon;
7 サロモンロボアムを生み、ロボアムアビアを生み、アビアアザを生み、
Solomon of Rehoboam; Rehoboam of Abijah; Abijah of Asa;
8 アザヨザファトを生み、ヨザファトヨラムを生み、ヨラムオジアを生み、
Asa of Jehoshaphat; Jehoshaphat of Jehoram; Jehoram of Uzziah;
9 オジアヨアタムを生み、ヨアタムアカズを生み、アカズエゼキアを生み、
Uzziah of Jotham; Jotham of Ahaz; Ahaz of Hezekiah;
10 エゼキアマナッセを生み、マナッセアモンを生み、アモンヨジアを生み、
Hezekiah of Manasseh; Manasseh of Amon; Amon of Josiah;
11 バビロンに移さるる頃ヨジアイエコニアと其兄弟等とを生み、
Josiah of Jeconiah and his brothers at the period of the Removal to Babylon.
12 バビロンに移されたる後イエコニアサラチエルを生み、サラチエルゾロバベルを生み、
After the Removal to Babylon Jeconiah had a son Shealtiel; Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel;
13 ゾロバベルアビユドを生み、アビユドエリアキムを生み、エリアキムアゾルを生み、
Zerubbabel of Abiud; Abiud of Eliakim; Eliakim of Azor;
14 アゾルサドクを生み、サドクアキムを生み、アキムエリユドを生み、
Azor of Zadok; Zadok of Achim; Achim of Eliud;
15 エリユドエレアザルを生み、エレアザルマタンを生み、マタンヤコブを生み、
Eliud of Eleazar; Eleazar of Matthan; Matthan of Jacob;
16 ヤコブマリアの夫ヨゼフを生み、此マリアよりキリストと稱するイエズス生れ給へり。
and Jacob of Joseph the husband of Mary, who was the mother of JESUS who is called CHRIST.
17 然れば歴代は、総てアブラハムよりダヴィドまで十四代、ダヴィドよりバビロンに移さるるまで十四代、バビロンに移されてよりキリストまで十四代[とす]。
There are therefore, in all, fourteen generations from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to the Removal to Babylon; and fourteen from the Removal to Babylon to the Christ.
18 第二項 ヨゼフとマリアとの婚姻及キリストの誕生 然てキリストの生れ給ひし次第は次の如し。其母マリアヨゼフに聘定せられしに、同居せざる前聖霊によりて懐胎せる事顕れしが、
The circumstances of the birth of Jesus Christ were these. After his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they were united in marriage, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 夫ヨゼフ義人にして彼を訟ふる事を好まざれば、密に之を離別せんと思へり。
But Joseph her husband, being a kind-hearted man and unwilling publicly to disgrace her, had determined to release her privately from the betrothal.
20 是等の事を思ひ回らす折しも、主の使彼が夢に現れて云ひけるは、ダヴィドの裔ヨゼフよ、汝の妻マリアを納るる事を懼るる勿れ、蓋彼に胎れるものは聖霊によれり。
But while he was contemplating this step, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to bring home your wife Mary, for she is with child through the Holy Spirit.
21 彼一子を生まん、汝其名をイエズスと名くべし、其は自己が民を其罪より救ふべければなり、と。
She will give birth to a Son, and you are to call His name JESUS for He it is who will save His People from their sins."
22 総て此事の成りしは、主が曾て預言者を以て曰ひし事の成就せん為なり、
All this took place in fulfilment of what the Lord had spoken through the Prophet,
23 曰く「看よ童貞女懐胎して一子を生まん、其名はエンマヌエルと稱へられん」と。エンマヌエルとは我等と偕に在す神の義なり。
"Mark! The maiden will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call His name Immanuel" --a word which signifies 'God with us'.
24 ヨゼフ睡より起きて、主の使より命ぜられし如くにして其妻を納れしが、
When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded, and brought home his wife,
25 牀を偕にせずして家子を生むに至れり、而して其子の名をイエズスと名けたり。
but did not live with her until she had given birth to a son. The child's name he called JESUS.
