< ヨハネの手紙第一 5 >
1 第二款 イエズス、キリストに於る信仰及び其の尊き結果。 総てイエズスのキリストにて在すことを信ずる人は、神より生れ奉りたる者にして、総て生み給ひしものを愛する人は、亦神より生れ奉りたり者をも愛するなり。
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been begotten by God; also, whoever loves the Begetter should love the one begotten by Him as well.
2 我等は神を愛し奉りて其掟を實行する時、之を以て神の子等を愛する事を知る、
In this we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and keep His commandments.
3 其は神に對する愛は、其掟を守るに在ればなり。斯て其掟は難きものに非ず。
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; His commandments are not burdensome,
4 蓋総て神より生れ奉りし者は世に勝つ、而して世に勝ちたる勝利は我等の信仰是なり。
in that whatever has been begotten by God overcomes the world; this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5 世に勝つ者は誰ぞ、イエズスが神の御子にて在すことを信ずる者に非ずや。
Who is he who overcomes the world if not he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 是ぞ水と血とによりて來り給ひしもの、即ちイエズス、キリストなる、唯水のみに非ず水と血とによりてなり。之を證し給ふものは[聖]霊にして、[聖]霊は眞理にて在す。
This is He who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by the water only, but by the water and the blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the Truth;
7 蓋(天に於て證するもの三あり、父と御言と聖霊と是なり、而して此三のものは一に歸し給ふ。
actually there are three who bear witness
8 又地に於て)證するもの三あり、霊と水と血と是なり、而して此三のものは一に歸す。
—the Spirit, the water and the blood—and the three are to one effect.
9 我等人の證を受くれば、神の證は更に大いなり、而して神の此證の大いなるは御子に就きて證し給ひしが故なり。
If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for this is God's testimony which He has testified concerning His Son.
10 神の御子を信じ奉る人は己の衷に神の證を有す、神を信ぜざる人は之を虚言者と為し奉る者なり、其は神が御子に就きて為し給へる證を信ぜざればなり。
He who believes into the Son of God has the witness within himself; he who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning His Son.
11 其證は是なり、即ち神我等に永遠の生命を賜ひて、此生命は其御子に在り、 (aiōnios )
And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (aiōnios )
12 御子を有し奉る人は生命を有し、御子を有し奉らざる人は生命を有せざるなり。
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
13 結末。 我が是等の事を汝等に書贈るは、神の御子の御名を信じ奉る汝等をして、自ら永遠の生命を有せる事を知らしめん為なり。 (aiōnios )
I have written these things to you who believe into the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life, really believing into the name of God's Son. (aiōnios )
14 又御旨に從ひて願ふ時は、何事をも我等に聴き給ふ事は、我等が彼に於て確信し奉る所にして、
Now this is the confidence that we have toward Him: if we should ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 何事を願ふも我等に聴き給ふ事を知れば、亦願ひし所を得べき事をも知れるなり。
And if we know that He hears us, whatever we may ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.
16 人若己が兄弟の死に至らざる罪を犯すを見ば祈るべし、然らば生命は死に至らざる罪を為せる人に賜はるべきなり。又死に至る罪あれば、我は之が為に願ふべしと言はず。
If anyone should see his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, let him ask, and He will give him life for those who do not sin unto death. There is sin leading to death; I am not saying that he should make request about that.
All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
18 総て神より生れ奉りたる人は罪を為さず、神より生れ給ひしもの之を守り給ひて、惡魔の之に触るる事なきは我等之を知れり。
We know that whoever has been begotten by God does not sin; rather the one who was begotten by God preserves himself, and the evil one does not touch him.
19 我等は神よりのものにして、世は挙りて惡魔に属する事は我等之を知れり。
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20 神の御子が我等に眞の神を識らしめ、我等を其眞の御子に在らしめん為に、來りて智識を與へ給へる事は我等又之を知れり。是ぞ眞の神にして又永遠の生命にて在す。 (aiōnios )
We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the genuine God, and the Life eternal. (aiōnios )
Dear children, guard yourselves from idols. Amen.
