1 しばしば責られてもなほ強項なる者は救はるることなくして猝然に滅されん
He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
2 義者ませば民よろこび 惡きもの權を掌らば民かなしむ
When the upright thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 智慧を愛する人はその父を悦ばせ 妓婦に交る者はその財産を費す
Whoever 'ahav ·affectionately loves· wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
4 王は公義をもて國を堅うす されど租税を征取る者はこれを滅す
The king by mishpat ·justice· makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.
A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
An evil man is snared by his rebellious breach of relationship, but the upright can sing and be glad.
7 義きものは貧きものの訟をかへりみる 然ど惡人は之を知ることを願はず
The upright care about justice for the poor. The wicked are not concerned about knowledge.
Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.
9 智慧ある人おろかかる人と争へば或は怒り或は笑ひて休むことなし
If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.
10 血をながす人は直き人を惡む されど義き者はその生命を救はんことを求む
The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.
11 愚なる者はその怒をことごとく露はし 智慧ある者は之を心に蔵む
A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.
If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.
13 貧者と苛酷者と偕に世にをる ヱホバは彼等の目に光をあたへ給ふ
The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Adonai gives sight to the eyes of both.
14 眞實をもて弱者を審判する王はその位つねに堅く立つべし
The king who fairly judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.
15 鞭と譴責とは智慧をあたふ 任意になしおかれたる子はその母を辱しむ
The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
16 惡きもの多ければ罪も亦おほし 義者は彼等の傾覆をみん
When the wicked increase, rebellious breach of relationships increases; but the upright will see their downfall.
17 なんぢの子を懲せ さらば彼なんぢを安からしめ 又なんぢの心に喜樂を與へん
Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.
18 黙示なければ民は放肆にす 律法を守るものは福ひなり
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the Torah ·Teaching· is blessed.
19 僕は言をもて譴むるとも改めず 彼は知れども從はざればなり
A servant can’t be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.
20 なんぢ言を謹まざる人を見しや 彼よりは却て愚なる者に望あり
Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 僕をその幼なき時より柔かに育てなば終には子の如くならしめん
He who pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end.
An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in rebellious breach of relationships.
23 人の傲慢はおのれを卑くし 心に謙だる者は榮誉を得
A man’s pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains kavod ·weighty glory·.
24 盗人に党する者はおのれの霊魂を惡むなり 彼は誓を聴けども説述べず
Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He sh'ma ·hears obeys· an oath, but dares not testify.
25 人を畏るれば罟におちいる ヱホバをたのむ者は護られん
The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Adonai is kept safe.
26 君の慈悲を求むる者はおほし 然れど人の事を定むるはヱホバによる
Many seek the ruler’s favor, but a man’s mishpat ·justice· comes from Adonai.
27 不義をなす人は義者の惡むところ 義くあゆむ人は惡者の惡むところなり
A dishonest man detests the upright, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.
