ローマ人への手紙 1
1 キリスト・イエスの僕、神の福音のために選び別たれ、召されて使徒となったパウロから
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God,
2 この福音は、神が、預言者たちにより、聖書の中で、あらかじめ約束されたものであって、
(Which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures, )
3 御子に関するものである。御子は、肉によればダビデの子孫から生れ、
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 聖なる霊によれば、死人からの復活により、御力をもって神の御子と定められた。これがわたしたちの主イエス・キリストである。
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 わたしたちは、その御名のために、すべての異邦人を信仰の従順に至らせるようにと、彼によって恵みと使徒の務とを受けたのであり、
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 あなたがたもまた、彼らの中にあって、召されてイエス・キリストに属する者となったのである
Among whom are you also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 ローマにいる、神に愛され、召された聖徒一同へ。わたしたちの父なる神および主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 まず第一に、わたしは、あなたがたの信仰が全世界に言い伝えられていることを、イエス・キリストによって、あなたがた一同のために、わたしの神に感謝する。
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
10 わたしは、祈のたびごとに、絶えずあなたがたを覚え、いつかは御旨にかなって道が開かれ、どうにかして、あなたがたの所に行けるようにと願っている。このことについて、わたしのためにあかしをして下さるのは、わたしが霊により、御子の福音を宣べ伝えて仕えている神である。
Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come to you.
11 わたしは、あなたがたに会うことを熱望している。あなたがたに霊の賜物を幾分でも分け与えて、力づけたいからである。
For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established;
12 それは、あなたがたの中にいて、あなたがたとわたしとのお互の信仰によって、共に励まし合うためにほかならない。
That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 兄弟たちよ。このことを知らずにいてもらいたくない。わたしはほかの異邦人の間で得たように、あなたがたの間でも幾分かの実を得るために、あなたがたの所に行こうとしばしば企てたが、今まで妨げられてきた。
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that oftentimes I purposed to come to you, (but was let till now, ) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
14 わたしには、ギリシヤ人にも未開の人にも、賢い者にも無知な者にも、果すべき責任がある。
I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 そこで、わたしとしての切なる願いは、ローマにいるあなたがたにも、福音を宣べ伝えることなのである。
So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 わたしは福音を恥としない。それは、ユダヤ人をはじめ、ギリシヤ人にも、すべて信じる者に、救を得させる神の力である。
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 神の義は、その福音の中に啓示され、信仰に始まり信仰に至らせる。これは、「信仰による義人は生きる」と書いてあるとおりである。
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 神の怒りは、不義をもって真理をはばもうとする人間のあらゆる不信心と不義とに対して、天から啓示される。
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 なぜなら、神について知りうる事がらは、彼らには明らかであり、神がそれを彼らに明らかにされたのである。
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has showed it to them.
20 神の見えない性質、すなわち、神の永遠の力と神性とは、天地創造このかた、被造物において知られていて、明らかに認められるからである。したがって、彼らには弁解の余地がない。 (aïdios g126)
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (aïdios g126)
21 なぜなら、彼らは神を知っていながら、神としてあがめず、感謝もせず、かえってその思いはむなしくなり、その無知な心は暗くなったからである。
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 彼らは自ら知者と称しながら、愚かになり、
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 不朽の神の栄光を変えて、朽ちる人間や鳥や獣や這うものの像に似せたのである。
And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things.
24 ゆえに、神は、彼らが心の欲情にかられ、自分のからだを互にはずかしめて、汚すままに任せられた。
Why God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
26 それゆえ、神は彼らを恥ずべき情欲に任せられた。すなわち、彼らの中の女は、その自然の関係を不自然なものに代え、
For this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 男もまた同じように女との自然の関係を捨てて、互にその情欲の炎を燃やし、男は男に対して恥ずべきことをなし、そしてその乱行の当然の報いを、身に受けたのである。
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
28 そして、彼らは神を認めることを正しいとしなかったので、神は彼らを正しからぬ思いにわたし、なすべからざる事をなすに任せられた。
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 すなわち、彼らは、あらゆる不義と悪と貪欲と悪意とにあふれ、ねたみと殺意と争いと詐欺と悪念とに満ち、また、ざん言する者、
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 そしる者、神を憎む者、不遜な者、高慢な者、大言壮語する者、悪事をたくらむ者、親に逆らう者となり、
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 無知、不誠実、無情、無慈悲な者となっている。
Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 彼らは、こうした事を行う者どもが死に価するという神の定めをよく知りながら、自らそれを行うばかりではなく、それを行う者どもを是認さえしている。
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
