箴言 知恵の泉 29
1 しばしばしかられても、なおかたくなな者は、たちまち打ち敗られて助かることはない。
He who, being often reproved, hardeneth his neck, Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 正しい者が権力を得れば民は喜び、悪しき者が治めるとき、民はうめき苦しむ。
When the righteous are powerful, the people rejoice; But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3 知恵を愛する人はその父を喜ばせ、遊女に交わる者はその資産を浪費する。
He who loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he who is a companion of harlots destroyeth his substance.
4 王は公儀をもって国を堅くする、しかし、重税を取り立てる者はこれを滅ぼす。
A king by equity establisheth a land; But he who receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
5 その隣り人にへつらう者は、彼の足の前に網を張る。
A man who flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his feet.
6 悪人は自分の罪のわなに陥る、しかし正しい人は喜び楽しむ。
In the transgression of a wicked man there is a snare; But the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
7 正しい人は貧しい者の訴えをかえりみる、悪しき人はそれを知ろうとはしない。
A righteous man careth for the cause of the poor; A wicked man discerneth not knowledge.
8 あざける人は町を乱し、知恵ある者は怒りを静める。
Scoffers kindle a city into a flame; But wise men pacify wrath.
9 知恵ある人が愚かな人と争うと、愚かな者はただ怒り、あるいは笑って、休むことがない。
If a wise man contend in a cause with a fool, Whether he rage or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 血に飢えている人は罪のない者を憎む、悪しき者は彼の命を求める。
The bloodthirsty man hateth the upright; But the righteous seek to preserve his life.
11 愚かな者は怒りをことごとく表わし、知恵ある者は静かにこれをおさえる。
A fool letteth all his anger come out; But a wise man keepeth it back.
12 もし治める者が偽りの言葉に聞くならば、その役人らはみな悪くなる。
If a ruler listen to words of falsehood, All his servants become wicked.
13 貧しい者と、しえたげる者とは共に世におる、主は彼ら両者の目に光を与えられる。
The poor man and the oppressor meet together: The LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.
14 もし王が貧しい者を公平にさばくならば、その位はいつまでも堅く立つ。
The king that judgeth the poor with uprightness, His throne shall be established for ever.
15 むちと戒めとは知恵を与える、わがままにさせた子はその母に恥をもたらす。
The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself bringeth shame to his mother.
16 悪しき者が権力を得ると罪も増す、正しい者は彼らの倒れるのを見る。
When the wicked are powerful, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall see their fall.
17 あなたの子を懲しめよ、そうすれば彼はあなたを安らかにし、またあなたの心に喜びを与える。
Chastise thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight to thy soul.
18 預言がなければ民はわがままにふるまう、しかし律法を守る者はさいわいである。
Where there is no vision, the people become unruly; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 しもべは言葉だけで訓練することはできない、彼は聞いて知っても、心にとめないからである。
A servant will not be corrected by words; For, though he understand, he will not obey.
20 言葉の軽率な人を見るか、彼よりもかえって愚かな者のほうに望みがある。
Seest thou a man hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 しもべをその幼い時からわがままに育てる人は、ついにはそれを自分のあとつぎにする。
He that bringeth up his servant delicately from childhood Shall have him become a son at the last.
22 怒る人は争いを起し、憤る人は多くの罪を犯す。
An angry man stirreth up strife, And a passionate man aboundeth in transgression.
23 人の高ぶりはその人を低くし、心にへりくだる者は誉を得る。
A man's pride will bring him low; But he that is of a humble spirit shall obtain honor.
24 盗びとにくみする者は自分の魂を憎む、彼はのろいを聞いても何事をも口外しない。
He who shareth with a thief hateth himself: He heareth the curse, but maketh no discovery.
25 人を恐れると、わなに陥る、主に信頼する者は安らかである。
The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26 治める者の歓心を得ようとする人は多い、しかし人の事を定めるのは主による。
Many are they who seek the ruler's favor; But every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
27 正しい人は不正を行う人を憎み、悪しき者は正しく歩む人を憎む。
As the unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, So the upright in his way is an abomination to the wicked.
