箴言 知恵の泉 16
1 心にはかることは人に属し、舌の答は主から出る。
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [are] from the LORD.
2 人の道は自分の目にことごとく潔しと見える、しかし主は人の魂をはかられる。
All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3 あなたのなすべき事を主にゆだねよ、そうすれば、あなたの計るところは必ず成る。
Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 主はすべての物をおのおのその用のために造り、悪しき人をも災の日のために造られた。
The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 すべて心に高ぶる者は主に憎まれる、確かに、彼は罰を免れない。
Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 いつくしみとまことによって、とがはあがなわれる、主を恐れることによって、人は悪を免れる。
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD [men] depart from evil.
7 人の道が主を喜ばせる時、主はその人の敵をもその人と和らがせられる。
When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 正義によって得たわずかなものは、不義によって得た多くの宝にまさる。
Better [is] a little with righteousness, than great revenues without right.
9 人は心に自分の道を考え計る、しかし、その歩みを導く者は主である。
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
10 王のくちびるには神の決定がある、さばきをするとき、その口に誤りがない。
A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11 正しいはかりと天びんとは主のものである、袋にあるふんどうもすべて彼の造られたものである。
A just weight and balance [are] the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag [are] his work.
12 悪を行うことは王の憎むところである、その位が正義によって堅く立っているからである。
[It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 正しいくちびるは王に喜ばれる、彼は正しい事を言う者を愛する。
Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
14 王の怒りは死の使者である、知恵ある人はこれをなだめる。
The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
15 王の顔の光には命がある、彼の恵みは春雨をもたらす雲のようだ。
In the light of a king's countenance [is] life; and his favor [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 知恵を得るのは金を得るのにまさる、悟りを得るのは銀を得るよりも望ましい。
How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold? and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver?
17 悪を離れることは正しい人の道である、自分の道を守る者はその魂を守る。
The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
18 高ぶりは滅びにさきだち、誇る心は倒れにさきだつ。
Pride [goeth] before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 へりくだって貧しい人々と共におるのは、高ぶる者と共にいて、獲物を分けるにまさる。
Better [it is to be] of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 慎んで、み言葉をおこなう者は栄える、主に寄り頼む者はさいわいである。
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy [is] he.
21 心に知恵ある者はさとき者ととなえられる、くちびるが甘ければ、その教に人を説きつける力を増す。
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22 知恵はこれを持つ者に命の泉となる、しかし、愚かさは愚かな者の受ける懲しめである。
Understanding [is] a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly.
23 知恵ある者の心はその言うところを賢くし、またそのくちびるに人を説きつける力を増す。
The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
24 ここちよい言葉は蜂蜜のように、魂に甘く、からだを健やかにする。
Pleasant words [are as] a honey-comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 人が見て自分で正しいとする道があり、その終りはついに死にいたる道となるものがある。
There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it [is] the ways of death.
26 ほねおる者は飲食のためにほねおる、その口が自分に迫るからである。
He that laboreth laboreth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
27 よこしまな人は悪を企てる、そのくちびるには激しい火のようなものがある。
An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips [there is] as a burning fire.
28 偽る者は争いを起し、つげ口する者は親しい友を離れさせる。
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
29 しえたげる者はその隣り人をいざない、これを良くない道に導く。
A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way [that is] not good.
30 めくばせする者は悪を計り、くちびるを縮める者は悪事をなし遂げる。
He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
31 しらがは栄えの冠である、正しく生きることによってそれが得られる。
The hoary head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it is found in the way of righteousness.
32 怒りをおそくする者は勇士にまさり、自分の心を治める者は城を攻め取る者にまさる。
[He that is] slow to anger [is] better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.
33 人はくじをひく、しかし事を定めるのは全く主のことである。
The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposing of it [is] from the LORD.
