1 エジプトの国を出た次の年の二月一日に、主はシナイの荒野において、会見の幕屋で、モーセに言われた、
The LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2 「あなたがたは、イスラエルの人々の全会衆を、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調査し、そのすべての男子の名の数を、ひとりびとり数えて、その総数を得なさい。
“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one,
3 イスラエルのうちで、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者を、あなたとアロンとは、その部隊にしたがって数えなければならない。
from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall count them by their divisions.
4 また、すべての部族は、おのおの父祖の家の長たるものを、ひとりずつ出して、あなたがたと協力させなければならない。
With you there shall be a man of every tribe, each one head of his fathers’ house.
5 すなわち、あなたがたに協力すべき人々の名は、次のとおりである。ルベンからはシデウルの子エリヅル。
These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.
Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.
10 ヨセフの子たちのうち、エフライムからはアミホデの子エリシャマ、マナセからはパダヅルの子ガマリエル。
Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.
Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”
16 これらは会衆のうちから選び出された人々で、その父祖の部族のつかさたち、またイスラエルの氏族のかしらたちである。
These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.
17 こうして、モーセとアロンが、ここに名を掲げた人々を引き連れて、
Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.
18 二月一日に会衆をことごとく集めたので、彼らはその氏族により、その父祖の家により、その名の数にしたがって二十歳以上のものが、ひとりびとり登録した。
They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.
19 主が命じられたように、モーセはシナイの荒野で彼らを数えた。
As the LORD commanded Moses, so he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 すなわち、イスラエルの長子ルベンの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の男子の名の数を、ひとりびとり得たが、
The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
21 ルベンの部族のうちで、数えられたものは四万六千五百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand and five hundred.
22 またシメオンの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の男子の名の数を、ひとりびとり得たが、
Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were counted of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
23 シメオンの部族のうちで、数えられたものは五万九千三百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
24 またガドの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
25 ガドの部族のうちで、数えられたものは四万五千六百五十人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.
26 ユダの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
27 ユダの部族のうちで、数えられたものは七万四千六百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
28 イッサカルの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
29 イッサカルの部族のうちで、数えられたものは五万四千四百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
30 ゼブルンの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
31 ゼブルンの部族のうちで、数えられたものは五万七千四百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
32 ヨセフの子たちのうち、エフライムの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Joseph: of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
33 エフライムの部族のうちで、数えられたものは四万五百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
34 マナセの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
35 マナセの部族のうちで、数えられたものは三万二千二百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand and two hundred.
36 ベニヤミンの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
37 ベニヤミンの部族のうちで、数えられたものは三万五千四百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
38 ダンの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
39 ダンの部族のうちで、数えられたものは六万二千七百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
40 アセルの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
41 アセルの部族のうちで、数えられたものは四万一千五百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.
42 ナフタリの子たちから生れたものを、その氏族により、その父祖の家によって調べ、すべて戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者の名の数を得たが、
Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war:
43 ナフタリの部族のうちで、数えられたものは、五万三千四百人であった。
those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
44 これらが数えられた人々であって、モーセとアロンとイスラエルのつかさたちとが数えた人々である。そのつかさたちは十二人であって、おのおのその父祖の家のために出たものである。
These are those who were counted, whom Moses and Aaron counted, and the twelve men who were princes of Israel, each one for his fathers’ house.
45 そしてイスラエルの人々のうち、その父祖の家にしたがって数えられた者は、すべてイスラエルのうち、戦争に出ることのできる二十歳以上の者であって、
So all those who were counted of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel—
46 その数えられた者は合わせて六十万三千五百五十人であった。
all those who were counted were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 しかし、レビびとは、その父祖の部族にしたがって、そのうちに数えられなかった。
But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not counted amongst them.
For the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
49 「あなたはレビの部族だけは数えてはならない。またその総数をイスラエルの人々のうちに数えあげてはならない。
“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, neither shall you take a census of them amongst the children of Israel;
50 あなたはレビびとに、あかしの幕屋と、そのもろもろの器と、それに附属するもろもろの物を管理させなさい。彼らは幕屋と、そのもろもろの器とを持ち運び、またそこで務をし、幕屋のまわりに宿営しなければならない。
but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.
51 幕屋が進む時は、レビびとがこれを取りくずし、幕屋を張る時は、レビびとがこれを組み立てなければならない。ほかの人がこれに近づく時は殺されるであろう。
When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.
52 イスラエルの人々はその部隊にしたがって、おのおのその宿営に、おのおのその旗のもとにその天幕を張らなければならない。
The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.
53 しかし、レビびとは、あかしの幕屋のまわりに宿営しなければならない。そうすれば、主の怒りはイスラエルの人々の会衆の上に臨むことがないであろう。レビびとは、あかしの幕屋の務を守らなければならない」。
But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel. The Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”
54 イスラエルの人々はこのようにして、すべて主がモーセに命じられたように行った。
Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so they did.
