ナホム書 3
1 わざわいなるかな、血を流す町。その中には偽りと、ぶんどり物が満ち、略奪はやまない。
Woe to the bloody city! it [is] all full of lies [and] robbery; the prey departeth not;
2 むちの音がする。車輪のとどろく音が聞える。かける馬があり、走る戦車がある。
The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
3 騎兵は突撃し、つるぎがきらめき、やりがひらめく。殺される者はおびただしく、しかばねは山をなす。死体は数限りなく、人々はその死体につまずく。
The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and [there is] a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and [there is] none end of [their] corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
4 これは皆あでやかな遊女の恐るべき魔力と、多くの淫行のためであって、その淫行をもって諸国民を売り、その魔力をもって諸族を売り渡したものである。
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
5 万軍の主は言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたに臨む、わたしはあなたのすそを顔の上まであげ、あなたの裸を諸民に見せ、あなたの恥じる所を諸国に見せる。
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
6 わたしは汚らわしい物を、あなたの上に投げかけて、あなたをはずかしめ、あなたを見ものとする。
And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.
7 すべてあなたを見るものは、あなたを避けて逃げ去って言う、「ニネベは滅びた」と。だれがこのために嘆こう。わたしはどこから彼女を慰める者を、尋ね出し得よう。
And it shall come to pass, [that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
8 あなたはテーベにまさっているか。これはナイル川のかたわらに座し、水をその周囲にめぐらし、海をとりでとなし、水をその垣としている。
Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, [that had] the waters round about it, whose rampart [was] the sea, [and] her wall [was] from the sea?
9 その力はエチオピヤ、またエジプトであって、限りがない。プトびと、リビヤびともその助け手であった。
Ethiopia and Egypt [were] her strength, and [it was] infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
10 しかし、これもとりことなって捕えられて行き、その子供もすべてのちまたのかどで打ち砕かれ、その尊い人々はくじで分けられ、その大いなる人々は皆、鎖につながれた。
Yet [was] she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
11 あなたもまた酔わされて気を失い、あなたは敵を避けて逃げ場を求める。
Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
12 あなたのとりでは皆初なりの実をもつ、いちじくの木のようだ。これをゆすぶればその実は落ちて、食べようとする者の口にはいる。
All thy strong holds [shall be like] fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 見よ、あなたのうちにいる兵士は女のようだ。あなたの国の門はあなたの敵の前に広く開かれ、火はあなたの貫の木を焼いた。
Behold, thy people in the midst of thee [are] women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
14 籠城のために水をくめ。あなたのとりでを堅めよ。粘土の中にはいって、しっくいを踏み、れんがの型をとれ。
Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
15 その所で火はあなたを焼き、つるぎはあなたを切る。それはいなごのようにあなたを食い滅ぼす。あなたはいなごのように数を増せ。ばったのようにふえよ。
There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
16 あなたは自分の商人を天の星よりも多くした。いなごは羽をはって飛び去る。
Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.
17 あなたの君たちは、ばったのように、あなたの学者たちは、いなごのように、寒い日には垣にとまり、日が出て来ると飛び去る。そのありかはだれも知らない。
Thy crowned [are] as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].
18 アッスリヤの王よ、あなたの牧者は眠り、あなたの貴族はまどろむ。あなたの民は山の上に散らされ、これを集める者はない。
Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell [in the dust: ] thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth [them].
19 あなたの破れは、いえることがなく、あなたの傷は重い。あなたのうわさを聞く者は皆、あなたの事について手を打つ。あなたの悪を常に身に受けなかったような者が、だれひとりあるか。
[There is] no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
