マタイの福音書 6
1 自分の義を、見られるために人の前で行わないように、注意しなさい。もし、そうしないと、天にいますあなたがたの父から報いを受けることがないであろう。
Be cautious in your alms-giving, not to perform it before men, so that ye may be seen of them: otherwise, ye have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2 だから、施しをする時には、偽善者たちが人にほめられるため会堂や町の中でするように、自分の前でラッパを吹きならすな。よく言っておくが、彼らはその報いを受けてしまっている。
Therefore, when thou doest alms thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get praise from men. Verily I say to you, They have gotten their reward.
3 あなたは施しをする場合、右の手のしていることを左の手に知らせるな。
But thou, when doing alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 それは、あなたのする施しが隠れているためである。すると、隠れた事を見ておられるあなたの父は、報いてくださるであろう。
that thy alms may be in secret. And thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
5 また祈る時には、偽善者たちのようにするな。彼らは人に見せようとして、会堂や大通りのつじに立って祈ることを好む。よく言っておくが、彼らはその報いを受けてしまっている。
And when thou prayest. thou shalt not be like the hypocrites, who are fond of standing up in the synagogues and at the corners of streets to pray, so that they may be seen by people. Verily I say to you, they have gotten their reward.
6 あなたは祈る時、自分のへやにはいり、戸を閉じて、隠れた所においでになるあなたの父に祈りなさい。すると、隠れた事を見ておられるあなたの父は、報いてくださるであろう。
But thou, when thou prayest enter into thy closet and close the door, and pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
7 また、祈る場合、異邦人のように、くどくどと祈るな。彼らは言葉かずが多ければ、聞きいれられるものと思っている。
And when ye pray, be not garrulous like the heathen; for they expect to be heard for their abundance of words.
8 だから、彼らのまねをするな。あなたがたの父なる神は、求めない先から、あなたがたに必要なものはご存じなのである。
Therefore, be not like them; for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before ye ask him.
9 だから、あなたがたはこう祈りなさい、天にいますわれらの父よ、御名があがめられますように。
In this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name:
10 御国がきますように。みこころが天に行われるとおり、地にも行われますように。
Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done; as in heaven, so on earth:
11 わたしたちの日ごとの食物を、きょうもお与えください。
Give us our needful bread, this day:
12 わたしたちに負債のある者をゆるしましたように、わたしたちの負債をもおゆるしください。
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors:
13 わたしたちを試みに会わせないで、悪しき者からお救いください。
And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever: Amen.
14 もしも、あなたがたが、人々のあやまちをゆるすならば、あなたがたの天の父も、あなたがたをゆるして下さるであろう。
For if ye forgive men their faults, your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you.
15 もし人をゆるさないならば、あなたがたの父も、あなたがたのあやまちをゆるして下さらないであろう。
But if ye shall not forgive men, your Father also forgiveth not you your faults.
16 また断食をする時には、偽善者がするように、陰気な顔つきをするな。彼らは断食をしていることを人に見せようとして、自分の顔を見苦しくするのである。よく言っておくが、彼らはその報いを受けてしまっている。
And when ye fast, be not sad like the hypocrites. For they distort their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say to you, they have gotten their reward.
17 あなたがたは断食をする時には、自分の頭に油を塗り、顔を洗いなさい。
But, when thou fastest, wash thou thy face, and anoint thy head:
18 それは断食をしていることが人に知れないで、隠れた所においでになるあなたの父に知られるためである。すると、隠れた事を見ておられるあなたの父は、報いて下さるであろう。
that thou mayest not be seen by men as a faster, but by thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will recompense thee.
19 あなたがたは自分のために、虫が食い、さびがつき、また、盗人らが押し入って盗み出すような地上に、宝をたくわえてはならない。
Lay not up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust spoil, and where thieves dig through and steal.
20 むしろ自分のため、虫も食わず、さびもつかず、また、盗人らが押し入って盗み出すこともない天に、宝をたくわえなさい。
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where no moth and no rust can spoil, and no thieves dig through nor steal.
21 あなたの宝のある所には、心もあるからである。
For where your treasure is, there will your heart also be.
22 目はからだのあかりである。だから、あなたの目が澄んでおれば、全身も明るいだろう。
The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore thy eye shall be sound, thy whole body will be luminous.
23 しかし、あなたの目が悪ければ、全身も暗いだろう。だから、もしあなたの内なる光が暗ければ、その暗さは、どんなであろう。
But if thy eye shall be diseased, thy whole body will be dark. If then the light that is in thee be darkness, how great will be thy darkness!
24 だれも、ふたりの主人に兼ね仕えることはできない。一方を憎んで他方を愛し、あるいは、一方に親しんで他方をうとんじるからである。あなたがたは、神と富とに兼ね仕えることはできない。
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and neglect the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 それだから、あなたがたに言っておく。何を食べようか、何を飲もうかと、自分の命のことで思いわずらい、何を着ようかと自分のからだのことで思いわずらうな。命は食物にまさり、からだは着物にまさるではないか。
Therefore I say to you: Be not anxious about your life, what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink; nor about your body, how ye shall clothe yourselves. Is not the life more important than food, and the body than raiment?
26 空の鳥を見るがよい。まくことも、刈ることもせず、倉に取りいれることもしない。それだのに、あなたがたの天の父は彼らを養っていて下さる。あなたがたは彼らよりも、はるかにすぐれた者ではないか。
Look at the birds of heaven; which sow not, and reap not, and gather not into storehouses, but your Father who is in heaven feedeth them. Are not ye more important than they?
27 あなたがたのうち、だれが思いわずらったからとて、自分の寿命をわずかでも延ばすことができようか。
And who of you that shall be anxious, can add to his stature a cubit?
28 また、なぜ、着物のことで思いわずらうのか。野の花がどうして育っているか、考えて見るがよい。働きもせず、紡ぎもしない。
And about raiment, why are ye anxious? Consider the lilies of the desert, in what manner they grow. They toil not; and they spin not.
29 しかし、あなたがたに言うが、栄華をきわめた時のソロモンでさえ、この花の一つほどにも着飾ってはいなかった。
Yet I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory, was arrayed like one of them.
30 きょうは生えていて、あすは炉に投げ入れられる野の草でさえ、神はこのように装って下さるのなら、あなたがたに、それ以上よくしてくださらないはずがあろうか。ああ、信仰の薄い者たちよ。
And if God so clothe the grass of the field, which exists to-day, and tomorrow falls into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, ye small in faith?
31 だから、何を食べようか、何を飲もうか、あるいは何を着ようかと言って思いわずらうな。
Therefore be not anxious; nor say, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink; or wherewith be clothed?
32 これらのものはみな、異邦人が切に求めているものである。あなたがたの天の父は、これらのものが、ことごとくあなたがたに必要であることをご存じである。
For, all these things the people of the world seek after. And your Father, who is in heaven, knoweth that all these things are needful to you.
33 まず神の国と神の義とを求めなさい。そうすれば、これらのものは、すべて添えて与えられるであろう。
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added to you.
34 だから、あすのことを思いわずらうな。あすのことは、あす自身が思いわずらうであろう。一日の苦労は、その日一日だけで十分である。
Therefore be not anxious about the morrow: for the morrow hath its own anxieties. Sufficient for the day, is its own evil.
