マタイの福音書 22
1 イエスはまた、譬で彼らに語って言われた、
Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables saying:
2 「天国は、ひとりの王がその王子のために、婚宴を催すようなものである。
“The kingdom of the heavens is like a certain king who prepared a wedding feast for his son.
3 王はその僕たちをつかわして、この婚宴に招かれていた人たちを呼ばせたが、その人たちはこようとはしなかった。
And he sent out his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, but they did not want to come.
4 そこでまた、ほかの僕たちをつかわして言った、『招かれた人たちに言いなさい。食事の用意ができました。牛も肥えた獣もほふられて、すべての用意ができました。さあ、婚宴においでください』。
Again he sent out other servants saying: ‘Say to those who have been invited: “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
5 しかし、彼らは知らぬ顔をして、ひとりは自分の畑に、ひとりは自分の商売に出て行き、
Now the indifferent ones just took off—one to his own field, another to his business.
6 またほかの人々は、この僕たちをつかまえて侮辱を加えた上、殺してしまった。
But the rest, seizing his servants mistreated and killed them!
7 そこで王は立腹し、軍隊を送ってそれらの人殺しどもを滅ぼし、その町を焼き払った。
So when that king heard about it he was furious; and sending his troops he destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.
8 それから僕たちに言った、『婚宴の用意はできているが、招かれていたのは、ふさわしくない人々であった。
“Then he says to his servants: ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
9 だから、町の大通りに出て行って、出会った人はだれでも婚宴に連れてきなさい』。
So go on the roads leading out of town, and as many as you may find invite to the wedding feast.’
10 そこで、僕たちは道に出て行って、出会う人は、悪人でも善人でもみな集めてきたので、婚宴の席は客でいっぱいになった。
And going out on the roads those servants gathered together everyone they found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11 王は客を迎えようとしてはいってきたが、そこに礼服をつけていないひとりの人を見て、
But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had not been clothed with a wedding garment.
12 彼に言った、『友よ、どうしてあなたは礼服をつけないで、ここにはいってきたのですか』。しかし、彼は黙っていた。
So he says to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.
13 そこで、王はそばの者たちに言った、『この者の手足をしばって、外の暗やみにほうり出せ。そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。
Then the king said to the servants, ‘Tie him up hand and foot, take him away and throw him out into the darkness farthest away.’ There there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 招かれる者は多いが、選ばれる者は少ない」。
For many are called, but few chosen.”
15 そのときパリサイ人たちがきて、どうかしてイエスを言葉のわなにかけようと、相談をした。
Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might trap Him in some word.
16 そして、彼らの弟子を、ヘロデ党の者たちと共に、イエスのもとにつかわして言わせた、「先生、わたしたちはあなたが真実なかたであって、真理に基いて神の道を教え、また、人に分け隔てをしないで、だれをもはばかられないことを知っています。
So they send their disciples to Him, with the Herodians, saying: “Teacher, we know that you are truthful and teach the way of God in truth; and you are not impressed by anyone, for you do not look at people's faces.
17 それで、あなたはどう思われますか、答えてください。カイザルに税金を納めてよいでしょうか、いけないでしょうか」。
So tell us, what do you think: is it lawful to pay tax to Caesar, or not?”
18 イエスは彼らの悪意を知って言われた、「偽善者たちよ、なぜわたしをためそうとするのか。
But perceiving their malignancy Jesus said: “Hypocrites! Why do you test me?
19 税に納める貨幣を見せなさい」。彼らはデナリ一つを持ってきた。
Show me the tax coin.” So they brought Him a denarius.
20 そこでイエスは言われた、「これは、だれの肖像、だれの記号か」。
And He says to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”
21 彼らは「カイザルのです」と答えた。するとイエスは言われた、「それでは、カイザルのものはカイザルに、神のものは神に返しなさい」。
They say to Him, “Caesar's.” Then He says to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's!”
22 彼らはこれを聞いて驚嘆し、イエスを残して立ち去った。
And hearing it they marveled, and leaving Him they went away.
23 復活ということはないと主張していたサドカイ人たちが、その日、イエスのもとにきて質問した、
The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him
24 「先生、モーセはこう言っています、『もし、ある人が子がなくて死んだなら、その弟は兄の妻をめとって、兄のために子をもうけねばならない』。
saying: “Teacher, Moses said that if someone dies having no children his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.
25 さて、わたしたちのところに七人の兄弟がありました。長男は妻をめとったが死んでしまい、そして子がなかったので、その妻を弟に残しました。
Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring he left his widow to his brother.
26 次男も三男も、ついに七人とも同じことになりました。
So also the second, and the third, up to the seventh.
27 最後に、その女も死にました。
Last of all, the woman died too.
28 すると復活の時には、この女は、七人のうちだれの妻なのでしょうか。みんながこの女を妻にしたのですが」。
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife, of the seven, will she be? For they all had her.”
29 イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたがたは聖書も神の力も知らないから、思い違いをしている。
So in answer Jesus said to them: “You are deceived, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God!
30 復活の時には、彼らはめとったり、とついだりすることはない。彼らは天にいる御使のようなものである。
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.
31 また、死人の復活については、神があなたがたに言われた言葉を読んだことがないのか。
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God saying,
32 『わたしはアブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である』と書いてある。神は死んだ者の神ではなく、生きている者の神である」。
‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not God of dead people but of living.”
33 群衆はこれを聞いて、イエスの教に驚いた。
Now as the crowds heard Him they were astonished at His teaching.
34 さて、パリサイ人たちは、イエスがサドカイ人たちを言いこめられたと聞いて、一緒に集まった。
Now when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they got together.
35 そして彼らの中のひとりの律法学者が、イエスをためそうとして質問した、
And one of them, a lawyer, testing Him, questioned and said,
36 「先生、律法の中で、どのいましめがいちばん大切なのですか」。
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 イエスは言われた、「『心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。
So Jesus said to him: “‘You must love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind.’
38 これがいちばん大切な、第一のいましめである。
This is the first and great commandment.
39 第二もこれと同様である、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。
And the second is like it, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 これらの二つのいましめに、律法全体と預言者とが、かかっている」。
On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets.”
41 パリサイ人たちが集まっていたとき、イエスは彼らにお尋ねになった、
While the Pharisees were assembled, Jesus asked them
42 「あなたがたはキリストをどう思うか。だれの子なのか」。彼らは「ダビデの子です」と答えた。
saying, “What do you think about the Christ; whose Son is He?” They say to Him, “David's.”
43 イエスは言われた、「それではどうして、ダビデが御霊に感じてキリストを主と呼んでいるのか。
He says to them: “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord’ saying,
44 すなわち『主はわが主に仰せになった、あなたの敵をあなたの足もとに置くときまでは、わたしの右に座していなさい』。
‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right until I place your enemies as a footstool for your feet”’?
45 このように、ダビデ自身がキリストを主と呼んでいるなら、キリストはどうしてダビデの子であろうか」。
Really now, if David calls Him ‘Lord’, how can He be his son?”
46 イエスにひと言でも答えうる者は、なかったし、その日からもはや、進んでイエスに質問する者も、いなくなった。
And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare to question Him anymore.
