マタイの福音書 16
1 パリサイ人とサドカイ人とが近寄ってきて、イエスを試み、天からのしるしを見せてもらいたいと言った。
The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 イエスは彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは夕方になると、『空がまっかだから、晴だ』と言い、
But in answer He said to them: “When it is evening you say, ‘Fair weather, for the sky is red’;
3 また明け方には『空が曇ってまっかだから、きょうは荒れだ』と言う。あなたがたは空の模様を見分けることを知りながら、時のしるしを見分けることができないのか。
and in the morning, ‘Today will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times.
4 邪悪で不義な時代は、しるしを求める。しかし、ヨナのしるしのほかには、なんのしるしも与えられないであろう」。そして、イエスは彼らをあとに残して立ち去られた。
A malignant and adulterous generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And leaving them behind He went away.
5 弟子たちは向こう岸に行ったが、パンを持って来るのを忘れていた。
Upon arriving at the other side His disciples had forgotten to take bread.
6 そこでイエスは言われた、「パリサイ人とサドカイ人とのパン種を、よくよく警戒せよ」。
Then Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
7 弟子たちは、これは自分たちがパンを持ってこなかったためであろうと言って、互に論じ合った。
So they reasoned among themselves saying, “It's because we didn't bring any bread.”
8 イエスはそれと知って言われた、「信仰の薄い者たちよ、なぜパンがないからだと互に論じ合っているのか。
But Jesus, being aware, said to them: “You little-faiths! Why are you reasoning among yourselves because you didn't bring any bread?
9 まだわからないのか。覚えていないのか。五つのパンを五千人に分けたとき、幾かご拾ったか。
Do you not yet perceive nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?
10 また、七つのパンを四千人に分けたとき、幾かご拾ったか。
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many hampers you took up?
11 わたしが言ったのは、パンについてではないことを、どうして悟らないのか。ただ、パリサイ人とサドカイ人とのパン種を警戒しなさい」。
How come you don't perceive that it wasn't about bread that I told you to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”
12 そのとき彼らは、イエスが警戒せよと言われたのは、パン種のことではなく、パリサイ人とサドカイ人との教のことであると悟った。
Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13 イエスがピリポ・カイザリヤの地方に行かれたとき、弟子たちに尋ねて言われた、「人々は人の子をだれと言っているか」。
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi He questioned His disciples saying, “Who do people say that I, the Son of the Man, am?”
14 彼らは言った、「ある人々はバプテスマのヨハネだと言っています。しかし、ほかの人たちは、エリヤだと言い、また、エレミヤあるいは預言者のひとりだ、と言っている者もあります」。
So they said, “Some say John the Baptizer, others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。
He says to them, “But you, who do you say that I am?”
16 シモン・ペテロが答えて言った、「あなたこそ、生ける神の子キリストです」。
So in answer Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!”
17 すると、イエスは彼にむかって言われた、「バルヨナ・シモン、あなたはさいわいである。あなたにこの事をあらわしたのは、血肉ではなく、天にいますわたしの父である。
And in answer Jesus said to him: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father who is in the heavens.
And I further say to you that you are a stone, but on this bedrock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not withstand her. (Hadēs g86)
19 わたしは、あなたに天国のかぎを授けよう。そして、あなたが地上でつなぐことは、天でもつながれ、あなたが地上で解くことは天でも解かれるであろう」。
And I will give you (sg) the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in the heavens, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in the heavens.”
20 そのとき、イエスは、自分がキリストであることをだれにも言ってはいけないと、弟子たちを戒められた。
Then He ordered His disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah.
21 この時から、イエス・キリストは、自分が必ずエルサレムに行き、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちから多くの苦しみを受け、殺され、そして三日目によみがえるべきことを、弟子たちに示しはじめられた。
From then on Jesus began to show to His disciples that He had to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
22 すると、ペテロはイエスをわきへ引き寄せて、いさめはじめ、「主よ、とんでもないことです。そんなことがあるはずはございません」と言った。
So taking Him aside Peter began to rebuke Him saying: “Mercy to you, Lord! This shall not happen to you!”
23 イエスは振り向いて、ペテロに言われた、「サタンよ、引きさがれ。わたしの邪魔をする者だ。あなたは神のことを思わないで、人のことを思っている」。
But turning He said to Peter: “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not mindful of God's values, but of men's values.”
24 それからイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら、自分を捨て、自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。
Then Jesus said to His disciples: “If anyone desires to come after me, let him really deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分の命を失う者は、それを見いだすであろう。
For whoever desires to save his life will waste it, but whoever ‘wastes’ his life on my account will find it.
26 たとい人が全世界をもうけても、自分の命を損したら、なんの得になろうか。また、人はどんな代価を払って、その命を買いもどすことができようか。
For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
27 人の子は父の栄光のうちに、御使たちを従えて来るが、その時には、実際のおこないに応じて、それぞれに報いるであろう。
For the Son of the Man will certainly come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will recompense each according to his performance.
28 よく聞いておくがよい、人の子が御国の力をもって来るのを見るまでは、死を味わわない者が、ここに立っている者の中にいる」。
Assuredly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of the Man coming in His kingdom.”
