マラキ書 3
1 「見よ、わたしはわが使者をつかわす。彼はわたしの前に道を備える。またあなたがたが求める所の主は、たちまちその宮に来る。見よ、あなたがたの喜ぶ契約の使者が来ると、万軍の主が言われる。
Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord whom ye seek will suddenly come to his temple, and the Angel of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.
2 その来る日には、だれが耐え得よう。そのあらわれる時には、だれが立ち得よう。彼は金をふきわける者の火のようであり、布さらしの灰汁のようである。
But who shall endure the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he will be like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' lye.
3 彼は銀をふきわけて清める者のように座して、レビの子孫を清め、金銀のように彼らを清める。そして彼らは義をもって、ささげ物を主にささげる。
And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier of silver; and he will purify the children of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and they shall offer unto Jehovah an oblation in righteousness.
4 その時ユダとエルサレムとのささげ物は、昔の日のように、また先の年のように主に喜ばれる。
Then shall the oblation of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Jehovah, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
5 そしてわたしはあなたがたに近づいて、さばきをなし、占い者、姦淫を行う者、偽りの誓いをなす者にむかい、雇人の賃銀をかすめ、やもめと、みなしごとをしえたげ、寄留の他国人を押しのけ、わたしを恐れない者どもにむかって、すみやかにあかしを立てると、万軍の主は言われる。
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hired servant in [his] wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.
6 主なるわたしは変ることがない。それゆえ、ヤコブの子らよ、あなたがたは滅ぼされない。
For I Jehovah change not, and ye, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
7 あなたがたは、その先祖の日から、わが定めを離れて、これを守らなかった。わたしに帰れ、わたしはあなたがたに帰ろうと、万軍の主は言われる。ところが、あなたがたは『われわれはどうして帰ろうか』と尋ねる。
Since the days of your fathers have ye departed from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?
8 人は神の物を盗むことをするだろうか。しかしあなたがたは、わたしの物を盗んでいる。あなたがたはまた『どうしてわれわれは、あなたの物を盗んでいるのか』と言う。十分の一と、ささげ物をもってである。
Will a man rob God? But ye rob me. And ye say, Wherein do we rob thee? [In] tithes and heave-offerings.
9 あなたがたは、のろいをもって、のろわれる。あなたがたすべての国民は、わたしの物を盗んでいるからである。
Ye are cursed with a curse; and me ye rob, [even] this whole nation.
10 わたしの宮に食物のあるように、十分の一全部をわたしの倉に携えてきなさい。これをもってわたしを試み、わたしが天の窓を開いて、あふるる恵みを、あなたがたに注ぐか否かを見なさいと、万軍の主は言われる。
Bring the whole tithe into the treasure-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I open not to you the windows of the heavens, and pour you out a blessing, till there be no place for it.
11 わたしは食い滅ぼす者を、あなたがたのためにおさえて、あなたがたの地の産物を、滅ぼさないようにしよう。また、あなたがたのぶどうの木が、その熟する前に、その実を畑に落すことのないようにしようと、万軍の主は言われる。
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith Jehovah of hosts.
12 こうして万国の人は、あなたがたを祝福された者ととなえるであろう。あなたがたは楽しい地となるからであると、万軍の主は言われる。
And all nations shall call you blessed; for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith Jehovah of hosts.
13 主は言われる、あなたがたは言葉を激しくして、わたしに逆らった。しかもあなたがたは『われわれはあなたに逆らって、どんな事を言ったか』と言う。
Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah; but ye say, What have we been speaking against thee?
14 あなたがたは言った、『神に仕える事はつまらない。われわれがその命令を守り、かつ万軍の主の前に、悲しんで歩いたからといって、なんの益があるか。
Ye say, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we keep his charge, and that we walk mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?
15 今われわれは高ぶる者を、祝福された者と思う。悪を行う者は栄えるばかりでなく、神を試みても罰せられない』」。
And now we hold the proud for happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and they escape.
16 そのとき、主を恐れる者は互に語った。主は耳を傾けてこれを聞かれた。そして主を恐れる者、およびその名を心に留めている者のために、主の前に一つの覚え書がしるされた。
Then they that feared Jehovah spoke often one to another; and Jehovah observed [it], and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his name.
17 「万軍の主は言われる、彼らはわたしが手を下して事を行う日に、わたしの者となり、わたしの宝となる。また人が自分に仕える子をあわれむように、わたしは彼らをあわれむ。
And they shall be unto me a peculiar treasure, saith Jehovah of hosts, in the day that I prepare; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 その時あなたがたは、再び義人と悪人、神に仕える者と、仕えない者との区別を知るようになる。
And ye shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
