1 主よ、われわれに臨んだ事を覚えてください。われわれのはずかしめを顧みてください。
Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us! Look down and behold our reproach!
2 われわれの嗣業は他国の人に移り、家は異邦人のものとなった。
Our inheritance is fallen to strangers, Our houses to aliens.
3 われわれはみなしごとなって父はなく、母はやもめにひとしい。
We are orphans; we are without a father; Our mothers are as widows.
4 われわれは金を出して水を飲み、価を払って、たきぎを獲なければならない。
Our water we drink for money; Our wood is sold to us.
5 われわれは首にくびきをかけられて追い使われ、疲れても休むことができない。
With the yoke upon our necks, we are driven; We are wearied, and have no rest.
6 われわれは足りるだけの食物を獲るために、エジプトおよびアッスリヤに手をさし伸べた。
We have given the hand to the Egyptians, And to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.
7 われわれの先祖は罪を犯して、すでに世になく、われわれはその不義の責めを負っている。
Our fathers sinned; they are no more, And we bear their iniquities.
8 奴隷であった者がわれわれを治めるが、われわれをその手から救い出す者がない。
Servants rule over us; There is none that delivereth out of their hand.
9 われわれは荒野のつるぎのゆえに、おのが命をかけて食物を獲る。
With the peril of our lives we get our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness.
10 われわれの皮膚は飢餓の激しい熱のために、炉のように熱い。
Our skin is parched like an oven Because of the burnings of hunger.
11 女たちはシオンで犯され、おとめたちはユダの町々で汚された。
Matrons in Zion have they ravished, And maidens in the cities of Judah.
12 君たる者も彼らの手でつるされ、長老たちも尊ばれず、
Princes were hanged up by their hand; The faces of the elders were not honored.
13 若者たちは、ひきうすをになわせられ、わらべたちは、たきぎを負って、よろめき、
Young men carried millstones, And boys fell under burdens of wood.
14 長老たちは門に集まることをやめ、若者たちはその音楽を廃した。
The elders sit no more at the gate; The young men have ceased from their music.
15 われわれの心の喜びはやみ、踊りは悲しみに変り、
The joy of our heart is at an end; Our dancing is turned into mourning.
16 われわれの冠はこうべから落ちた。わざわいなるかな、われわれは罪を犯したからである。
The crown is fallen from our head; Woe unto us, that we have sinned!
17 このために、われわれの心は衰え、これらの事のために、われわれの目はくらくなった。
For this is our heart faint, For these things our eyes are dim;
18 シオンの山は荒れはて、山犬がその上を歩いているからである。
On account of mount Zion, which is desolate; Foxes roam over it.
19 しかし主よ、あなたはとこしえに統べ治められる。あなたの、み位は世々絶えることがない。
But thou, O Jehovah, sittest as king forever; Thy throne endureth from generation to generation.
20 なぜ、あなたはわれわれをながく忘れ、われわれを久しく捨ておかれるのですか。
Wherefore dost thou wholly forget us, And abandon us, for so long a time?
21 主よ、あなたに帰らせてください、われわれは帰ります。われわれの日を新たにして、いにしえの日のようにしてください。
Turn us again to thee, O Jehovah, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old!
22 あなたは全くわれわれを捨てられたのですか、はなはだしく怒っていられるのですか。
For shouldst thou utterly reject us? Shouldst thou be so exceedingly wroth against us?
